  1. Way to go, Steve - I’m currently on the hunt for my first Spicy.
  2. Shock 6 is one of those rising EC’s, along with Vault 35, but $600 for a 1.8? No... I’d definitely hold out for a better deal on a better copy.
  3. Really like the selection of pulps offered in this thread, congrat’s to all on their pickups. Maybe Rick will grace us with some more vintage paper...
  4. Yup - for the record, I bought the WT (4/30) as a Fine- but paid a substantial premium for the bright presentation and nice page quality. In my view, there’s more to consider with any book than just its technical grade.
  5. Thanks for the sage opinions, guys. I tend to agree with buttock that the overhang damage is inevitable (unless the book is trimmed), so I don’t detract much. The overall frontal presentation is key (which means I’m not overly concerned with a faded spine, either). Just like with comics, we all have our own pet peeves - I’d buy pulps like this one all day long!
  6. A pulp grading question, let’s say you have an otherwise high grade pulp but it has major compressed overhang that has repeated tears and rips...how do you grade a book like this?
  7. Simply gorgeous! Are the insides white also?
  8. From Bookery: 1st issue officially under the editorship of John W. Campbell Jr. - ushers in what many historians refer to as the “Golden Age” of science-fiction and established Astounding as the pre-eminent publication in the science-fiction field.
  9. Sweet copy - the different colored logo really stands out.
  10. Agree with Rick, sweet pickup Jay!
  11. I so much love these Brundage covers...
  12. Have this incoming from a boardie, 1/34 issue where Triplanetary (a Lensman prequel by Smith) begins, not denoted in Bookery’s (?). I sure like the Leo Morey covers from this period...
  13. on both the April and June 1934 Amazing Stories pulps, thanks!
  14. I’ve heard that the pushing and shoving in the elevator resembled an episode of Jerry Springer...
  15. Whoa, great minds think alike Jack (I have two copies also).
  16. Jimmers, that’s a really nice looking 4.5! For some reason this particular issue is prone to spine splits, even the Church copy.
  17. Unfortunately no, I even had a miniature metal Japanese fleet that has been lost to time. Ha!
  18. Along with early Weird Tales, the Amazing Stories bedsheets are my favorite pulps - wish I could find more with nice paper! Author Fletcher Pratt (the cover story here) also created a popular set of rules for naval wargame miniatures, I actually played (on the floor) them when I was a teenager.
  19. It’s great to see these A-Man 7’s, it always has been a Top Ten book for me. The 9.4 that tops the Census is the Larson copy, FYI.
