  1. Can a pulp be pressed? At CalComicCon last weekend, a seller had a pretty nice copy of Weird Tales 12/32 (1st Conan) that we were looking at; it had multiple finger bends on the front cover. Someone else mentioned a press would help, but no one knew if a thick pulp like that could be pressed?
  2. Great book Jay, thanks for showing it to me in person. KDF 18 is still in the shadow of KDF 20, but it has now become a generally recognized classic Centaur. Well done, sir!
  3. With my local gallery, Utamaro’s prints sell out and it’s not unusual for none to be available. This attests not only to the top quality of his work, but also to the early era that they were produced. I just checked the gallery, this is the only print available (circa 1797); certainly not a favorite, but then not too expensive either:
  4. Exactly (well said). I am however avoiding books with Japanese text as I very much enjoy the background stories and print analysis.
  5. Yeah, TAR 27 is not rare at all (I do have a copy and have seen many others), it’s probably just one of those perception things (but at $5 that’s a helluva deal!). Someone was going around the room with a Turtles #1 in CGC 9.8 for $82k.
  6. Such a beautiful book! I believe these early Jumbos are undervalued, especially in nice shape (like this copy).
  7. At the Con table out front, they had $10 parking discount tickets (so parking was only $10 a day, which is very reasonable). Good venue, as others noted improved lighting would be a plus.
  8. re: CalComicCon Good observations, Bob - always a pleasure to see you (and other boardies, too). One seller had a nice incomplete run of Catman Comics, including dupes, and they mostly sold. Pretty amazing to see all those books in one place. Driving to the Con, it was uncanny how thick the fog was. At some points along the freeway, I could not see the side of the road as the fog was so thick it was uncanny. Listening to the radio coming home Sun, it was all Kobe (RIP).
  9. Cool books as always, Sean. Missed you at CalComicCon...
  10. An Everett cover trio from CalComicCon, courtesy of A-1 Comics and Bunky Bro’s:
  11. A CalComicCon pickup from Harley Yee (who had an accurate grade on the raw book). I’ve been after the right copy of this issue for a long while now, many thanks to @Ricksneatstuff who helped me with pricing (I’m not familiar enough with the Duck market) and again to Harley for being easy to work with/amenable to my offer.
  12. A pickup from CalComicCon yesterday, in this case resistance was indeed futile (and Thank You Bunky)...
  13. Fantastic show, kudos to Terry and his staff, the Westin is a good venue. So many collectors, so many books! Buying, selling, trading... very happy with everything. And, of course, seeing fellow boardies (always a pleasure to meet and chat). Finally, a shout out to the dealers who participated and put forth the effort to make the event a memorable one.
  14. I like the interiors of Big Shot Comics, Skyman (drawn by Ogden Whitney) is a cool character. Vincent Sullivan, a name that DC collectors should recognize, was the editor for Columbia.
  15. Good research Adam, I was unaware of this notation. Surprised that Baker did work for DC at all? And yes, thank you for selling me the book at a great price and accurate grade. The cover to this book is fantastic, any idea who did it?
  16. I’ve never seen this book before, GCD says Baker story... yes, no, maybe so?
