So I bought this book in 2017 on a deployment for $500. Was so happy to get it as it was a book I had been after for years. I expected it to be a lower grade which is why I bought it( my flash collection is a low grade collection) i finally decided to send it in for grading last year. I can’t tell you how disappointed I was to see the purple label and it honestly was the final straw that turned me away from collecting and buying book in general for the past year now.
No way to sugar coat this . . . it sucks.
The C-1 designation means it is slight amateur work. You could consider having the glue professionally removed, but then it seems you will have a cover partially split or fully detached. In that case, the grade would likely be lower.
BUT, do not let this discourage you. We all have stories in the past like this. In my case, before I was able to spot restoration, I spent a couple thousand on a book that came back restored. Before I could fully understand grading, I bought VF books that came back VG. We all learn, but we still love the comics.
If you bought this in person, make sure it is a reputable dealer or someone you trust that will take a return. If buying online, again, research the vendor. Search these boards as most dealers have been discussed over and over and you will know who to trust and who not to. Of course, buying already slabbed will help avoid this situation, but even CGC sometimes makes mistakes.
BTW: there are several threads on how to spot restoration, read them. And, watch some videos on YouTube.
Good luck. In the meantime, crack it out, put it in a mylar and enjoy for years. Or, sell it and buy the next great comic for your collection.

I was looking at the convention schedule and was thinking that maybe I would take a trip to Baltimore, pending easing up of the current Covid surge.
Anyway, I remembered the first time I went to Baltimore Comic-Con, I wanted to be there to visit Geppi's museum at it's grand opening. Some of you were invited to the preview night party, I wasn't, so I paid for my ticket. Unfortunately, I don't know where the photos are that I took from inside.
Here's my ticket from opening weekend...

tons of SA books yesterday ended out of the norm lately, even for CL and CC. how much if this before we start questioning the validity of heritage auction results?
I thought we've been questioning the validity for a couple of years now?

Time to bump this thread! A seldom-seen 9.2 W sold for $10.2K on H tonight. I guess that sole 9.8 W on the census would go for much, much more in today's climate.

I forgot, I did chat with Gene from Shortboxed. It's a great app that I've used. I got a free t-shirt from them and also purchased a couple of books.
I hope to see all of you next year.

I attended the show for about 3 hours on Friday. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend Saturday or today (Sunday).
Having attended all Rose City Comic-Cons since the first with the current promoter, maybe 6 years ago, this was definitely underwhelming. The attendance on Friday was extremely light. Aisles were wide open with a lot of space to move around. Good for Covid, bad for the dealers/exhibitors and the promoter.
I would say about 10-15% of booths were either exhibitor no-shows or were unsold booths. A lot of empty space.
I purchased low grades Showcase 15 and 34, first Space Ranger and Atom, from Dan at Atlantis comics.
I only took wall pictures. Coming up after this picture of the queue to get in 10 mins before the show opened.

Came to this thread as Swampy was top of mind. I was at Rose City Comic-Con today and flipping through boxes. Someone was waffling on a 6.5 priced at $2K and walked away after 10 mins. She was really pained and thinking she could find a cheaper one at another booth. I should have bought it as it would be a nice bump from my 4.0.

I clicked expecting something earth shattering. Can I get my nickel back?
FWIW, I never noticed them either. But, the last time I held a 49 was probably 25 years ago when I smartly sold my X-Men, but I know not why.

OK, so just to be clear, what is known about these books? Are their respective owners known? Have there been any photos or scans taken of them?
EDIT: I did some Googling and I found this pretty awesome article.

Such a beautiful book!!! Seeing any of these early Flashes in 9 or better is just amazing!!! It's just so rare.
I think that’s the point. Rare in high grade, the tide is lifting them all.

Less than 2 days to go. I'll be there Friday. I'm planning to get there early for easy parking and to get some lunch. Maybe Spirit of 77 or Red Robin . . . start the drinking before the show. If anyone wants to join for lunch, let me know. I know Red Robin has outdoor seating and Spirit of 77 has huge garage doors to let air circulate in.
