Less than a week to go. I’m assuming this will be sparsely attended. Hopefully there will be some good deals.

Saw a video from Torpedo comics…wow was the attendance sparse. I wouldn’t call this SDCC. Maybe a random gathering of sellers and some buyers.

Amazing. I find it hard to believe no action figures from the 70s.

I went to the grocery store to buy some ice cream for Thanksgiving. They were all out of the salted caramel vanilla that goes great with the apple pie.
I BLAME all the kids who were likely hoarding the ice cream knowing Thanksgiving was coming. The ice cream manufacturers already knew Thanksgiving was coming, so they prepared by buying milk wholesale. I know this because the price of milk is higher than it was last Thanksgiving.
If people would just STOP BUYING ICE CREAM and buy more brussel sprouts, the market would equalize.
It's so bad, there's now a black market. My neighbor had chocolate, but we were desperate for something to go with the pie. I had to let them borrow our leaf blower in exchange for a couple of scoops.
I just feel so bad for the ice cream manufacturers. I hope they come out with more signature flavors and increase their prices so that they can stay in business.

This is real deep hardcore fandom stuff, but back in the late 50's Roy Thomas (yes that Roy Thomas and Jerry Bails - a Uni Professor) lead a campaign to revive a lot of DC Golden Age heroes. (which culminated in Flash 123, Flash of Two Worlds and JLA 21, the first Crisis cross over) They released what may have been the first comic fanzine, Alter Ego, and had yearly competitions which reader could vote for best comic story best art, worst comic (won by Wonder Woman but Hulk did get a runner up spot). Well John Broome and Garner Fox one some awards (Flash 123 was voted best comic - not bad considering it ran against first spider-man and first Dr Doom, ) and they sent back letter of thanks. Of interest is John's last sentence, which came to pass long after John had left the hobby and something he was not actually aware of until the 1990 SDCC panel he did.
Thank you for posting these. I have seen a few issues, but not specifically these letters. Kudos for keeping the history alive.

Are they a legit outfit? Or an inside joke? The only product they have is Rifleman 10
I don't know them, they just showed up in a search. Good luck.

Yes, as I recall, he's a surfing cover fan.
Correct. I first saw this cover in the Gerber photo guide and have been hunting for years. I have seen two, one heavily stained and one just a very low grade.
I'm pretty sure there were at least two others bidding it up, so I figured if I kept going, all I was going to do is punish someone, but eventually lose. So, whoever you are, you're welcome.

Yes, even the ones with awful dust shadows and terrible eye appeal—the high-grade ones, anyway.
Ugh. The book at 9.2 guides at $310. It was sitting at $525 going into the live session. I set a limit of $1000 for myself but got carried away and went up to $1200. Final hammer was $1800 (w/BP). I give it 24 hours before the regret sinks in.

neither really. wanted some cash, i had two copies so could spare it. didnt think the book would do much for awhile since the iron man films are done for now. the one lesson i repeatedly get hit over the head with is 'never sell keys unless it's to buy other keys.'
That's a mantra I can follow.

I'm watching a 9.2 with a small dust shadow. It's relatively cheap, even at double-guide, where I'm willing to go. But 4X? Hopefully it doesn't go there. Thanks.

I haven't been paying attention...are the non-key, regular, run of the mill, Promise books going for crazy multiples? Just curious.

@innocuous Sheesh that's a long list
Thank you. Great looking list.
I don't know if it is a good thing for attendees or bad thing for those exhibitors, but tickets are still available for sale. In years past, there was no way you could be 3 weeks out from the con and still have tickets available.

I have no submissions, so no stake here. But, I would not be surprised if there were a class action lawsuit. There was likely a lot of money lost, both in terms fo damaged books and lost opportunity to sell due to not making TAT commitments.

MacBook Air, iOS 11.6, Safari 15.0. I have the circular log-in issue.

About 2-1/2 weeks away. Today's email they announced Jim Lee.
The website still doesn't work on my Mac. Can't filter the exhibitor list to see the comic dealers.

Nice, glad you're around these days. Last time I saw you you had some cool Spidey senses drawing by Stan Lee, and your kids were just babies. Bet they're in college now. 😂
Thanks bugman. I still do have the sketch by Stan. And, my oldest is a college graduate.
The very first gift exchange, I was assigned Steve. That was fun.
