The original CCA file copy here.

Any guesses as to how much, if anything, that provenance would add to value?

    Beautiful looking copy.

I generally don't see a premium assigned to file copies. For some pedigrees, you might see a premium. Regardless, given the potential high grade, this copy would likely command a strong price, especially if you squish it.

Just added this copy after doing a bit of research! Not the best copy in the world but I think it has tremendous eye appeal and the historical value has always been off the charts for me in regards to this issue! Even better is that this is a UK pence copy, which according to my math, account for just 1.4% of all graded copies in the CGC census! So many neat factors with this issue!

I would like to point out being a Metal Men fan, that as robots, even sentient robots, the depiction of mutilations, beheadings and dismemberments that were not allowed to be shown of humans by the Comics Code in the Silver Age, were allowed if it was robots that were involved in such violence. Here are a few examples. The horror!

Did I count that right? 14 heads flying on 3 covers. Too bad there was no red oil dripping.

It's funny how sometimes casting can drive things.  Before Robert Downey Jr., Iron Man was a second-tier Marvel hero at best.  Benedict Cumberbatch is a fantastic actor to build the next phase around -- I wonder how much of this was pre-negotiated before his first film.  Plus of course Doctor Strange is central to the whole multiverse concept that Marvel has made so central to the MCU -- though I suppose if the character had flopped they could have tried to pull it off with just Wanda.

I was thinking of getting a second copy for just this reason. Unfortunately, too many other books I want.

I was initially thinking this exact same thing, but you could probably purchase a higher-grade raw copy for what you'd make by selling a slabbed 3.5 copy, giving you more bang for the buck?

It’s possible. But this isn’t a real high value book. So, expenses *might* chew up the difference. Depending on how you sell it, listing fees, commissions, shipping, PayPal fees, etc. then, to buy raw,, there are similar expenses.

I like the idea of buying raw and keeping both.

Fantastic Four #48 1st Silver Surfer start of Galactus trilogy.  Solid VG/VG+, well attached, nice pages, all around solid VG range with typical wear no major defects not easily seen in scan except a minor 1/2" spine split at bottom.   Most recent 4.0 GPA is $2,660 and 4.5 had a recent sale of $2,500.  Board price just $2,050 with satisfaction guarantee.

One of the things I like about #51 is the vehicle.  It's a car. A CAR. In space. It's got a steering wheel and (of all things) a door handle. And what looks like a back seat. Just like your dad's new 1948 Plymouth. Plymouths didn't have ray-gun turrets, but still.

I just wanted to highlight this for potential buyers. There is so much more to love here when you spend 60 seconds of your life (like I just did) studying the cover.
