  1. I don't think he believes you take 70K to a show...you should prove it to him by posting a few of your recent buys
  2. I'm looking forward to seeing what grade he gets back....As I said i'm not a professional grader! It's a really nice book and I hope it is graded high.
  3. I agree...9.2 at best. I'm not a proffessional grader but.... There is several minor spine ticks running along the sides. The top left corner on the front looks slightly split. The bottom right isn't crisp and sharp, neither is the top right (on front cover) On the back there looks like some minor wear
  4. Everyone run out and buy your 9.8s...meh!
  5. It appears as though the seller is completely incompetent. I would agree, send it back for a complete refund. But if you like the comic so much then request money for a reholder. That is completely ridiculous
  6. You broke it down. I wouldn't even say crooked is their intention. I've seen some dealers selling books undervalued and at the same time selling books overvalued.
  7. Good point. I've noticed at my local comic shop that they have suddenly turned into professional graders. So they are selling raw books at the same value as a slabbed book would be in that grade. So i guess you pay to have your books slabbed and the only loser who comes out at the end of it is the buyer as CGC makes money, the shop makes money and the buyer loses out the price of the slab.
  8. I'm very reluctant to put a book in plastic (grade) for a few reasons. I like to read the books and I noticed a massive difference in value between a 9.6 and a 9.8 which would cost people hundreds if not thousands of dollars and like @IkewithMike said it gives CGC and other grading companies a license to print money. If a book has no economic value then the only reason to have it graded is a sentimental one, I'm sure the cost of entry into the show is $$$ but if you go does that mean you wasted your money? For most collectors as kids, I imagine the initial desire to get into the hobby was a nostaglic one and not a financial one.
  9. I'm totally confused... If a book retails at $10 And slab cost $25 And slab book value is $25 after slabbed and stab cost 3-5 It seems like a whole lot of wasted time and money
  10. To collecting, keep the journey going!
  11. Heart warming and sad at times. Thank you for sharing
  12. I would think they have an effect on whether or not someone will buy them, thus having an effect on the prices.
  13. Not impressed with the graphics, but the pillaging is A+
  14. I still have Arkham too and just cannot be bothered. StarWars Battlefront and Call of Duty seem to be in my system a lot, that and GTA, but sometimes I feel like vegging out and Skyrim does that for me (graphics are horrible though) Not too much into the sports games, but do you play strictly online? What team do you use?
  15. Thanks! Just started another run at Skyrim (For some lifeless reason) as a Nord. Have you ever played the game? Sometimes I just feel like going into towns and pillaging them (I know off topic, sorry)
