  1. So I think the most reasonable explanation is the rings like in the comics were made by the Makluan race (Fin Fang Foom) so to fit on a dragons claw they'd apparently be the size of a person's wrist
  2. Hmmm I'll guess Olivia Colman as Veranke and Emilia Clarke as Abigail Brand
  3. Yea there's definitely a lot more going on than they let on here. I mean with the toy leaks the presence of "dragons" and whatever mythical creature Morris is in modern day adds quite a bit. The Mandarins ten rings (the bracelets with the glowy stuff in the trailer) seem like alien tech rather mystical artifacts, so I think they're gonna stick with the fact that the dragons are shape shifting aliens and they'll make the ten rings their's like in the comics and the Mandarin probably steals them when they first land on Earth, or maybe it has to do with that ancient battle with the lions. I think there's also some subtler hints like the fact that Shang Chi has been gone for 10 years. If the current timeline holds up it's 2023 in the trailer meaning he's been gone since 2013 which is when the events of Iron Man 3 and all the fake Mandarin stuff took place. My guess would be after Trevor Slattery is abducted in All Hail the King he's brought to the Madarin and he tasks Shang Chi with killing him to preserve their honor, but he refuses and leaves or you know something along those lines.
  4. Just in case no one wants to click the EW article.
  5. The trailer is fantastic I've watched it 3 or 4 times already. It totally captures the Hong Kong action film vibe by way of the Marvel Universe, Tony Leung as the Mandarin is perfect (the classic costume ) , Simu Liu and Awkwafina together are comedy gold, the set pieces and fight choreography are excellent. If anybody thinks this isn't going to be amazing you might want to do a double take. I can't wait for the Oscars to be over so we can get the trailer for Eternals because I think phase 4 is gonna swing for the fences.
  6. Finally some concrete visuals! There's a few more stills and interviews with the cast in this new article from Entertaiment Weekly. https://ew.com/movies/shang-chi-and-the-legend-of-the-ten-rings-simu-liu-first-look/
  7. I guess you're right gratuitous wasn't the right word choice the cameos aren't unnecessary they're overabundant. Now to try and say the one shots aren't gratuitous with cameos? I think the first one literally has Coulson meet with Sitwell to talk to Tony Stark to talk to Thunderbolt Ross to say how Abomination shouldn't be on the Avengers. Were all those characters necessary to make that point? Did that point even need to be made? Obviously the story should make sense first and foremost, but having the Avengers battle Madame Hydra isn't something that's hard to imagine. I don't think "partnered with" meant they want her to be a buddy cop duo with Thor, it's more like "acting against" because the personalities are so distinct. Best guess off the top of my head she could be the one heading the Siege storyline instead of Norman Osborn as it appears she's putting together a team of either Thunderbolts or Dark Avengers. Since she was set to premier in Black Widow it stands to reason Yelena or Iron Maiden is also going to be on her team. If they try to destroy the MCUs New Asgard her bumping heads with Thor seems like a pretty solid story.
  8. Does there though? I feel like the MCU was built on gratuitous cameos and easter eggs. I haven't watched the episode yet, so I don't know what narrative purpose she serves, but the quote was opposite a worldshaker LIKE Thor, not Thor explicitly. I'm not even a fan of Dreyfus' I find Seinfeld near unwatchable, but funny people opposite Thor seems to always land. A secret agent opposite Thor would probably be funny in it's own right though. Imagine someone doing a covert ops mission with Thor and he just bifrosts his way down, superhero poses, or hammers his way right through the front door and totally blows their cover. Seems like something someone somewhere would like to see whether or not it's compelling cinema.
  9. I think it's less about the character more about the actress. Someone with Julia Louis Dreyfus' comedic chops would be hilarious opposite Thor after seeing Ragnarok.
  10. Tony had the prototype shield that showed up in Iron Man 2. It's never explicitly stated it's Vibranium, but one could assume given the circumstances. I imagine he used that as sort of donor parts to repair Steve's shield, but I suppose that's personal conclusions rather than hard facts. There isn't any visible damage to the shield after Walkers battle with Ayo & co. We get pretty good looks at it after he untethers himself from the table and after he bashes the guys head/chest in at the end. The only course of events I can come up with that would require the shield to be repaired like this would be Bucky using his Vibranium arm to crack the center of the shield in the first fight we're gonna see between him and Walker in the warehouse this week.
  11. Caps shield has those inset etchings in each arm of the star, Walkers new one doesn't. Walker's has lines to counter the arms and seperate each of the 5 segments. My guess is the new footage is edited either because he doesn't actually have the shield at this point, or it's not the same colors, the blue looks way too vibrant and saturated. I can't see any reason Walker would carve those straight lines across the star section because they're not there in the last episode (also he'd need something else made out of Vibranium to etch it) it seems sort of like a "Join or die" flag reference, and they're definitely too perfect to have been made as damage from the Dora Milajes spears.
  12. Not revolutionary or anything but Walker is NOT using Caps shield in the new trailer he has a new shield that is segmented in the center so that means Sam is definitely getting Steve's original shield
  13. Disney owns ABC, Universal/Comcast owns NBC, so Howdy Doody will probably show up in the next Fast and Furious movie
  14. Seems like we're gonna be getting two showdowns against Walker with the new footage shown in this mid season trailer. The nighttime fight in the middle of the street is going to be bonkers https://youtu.be/iQSHrgjayz8 (can't figure out how to get the video in the body of the post)
  15. I'm gonna have to go with AoD here Disney isn't even close to done with Spider Man. The idea that Netflix streaming Spider Man movies will cause Disney and Feige to not want to pursue him still is a nonstarter. 1.) Disney still has the merchandising rights for Spider Man toys, so they're gonna want to guide that direction as best they can, bad movies sell fewer toys. 2.) They never had the Spider Man streaming rights to begin with. They've been on Starz, another rival company, for years and that hasn't slowed anything down up to this point. Streaming after theatrical runs isn't some huge money maker. Also it's a first look deal, so Netflix doesn't even have to pick up the movies if they don't want, they just have the right of first refusal for movies Sony intends to make EXCLUSIVELY FOR STREAMING, and they could still potentially end up anywhere. Sony is also working with Amazon (another huge streaming rival) for Spider Man related streaming series like Silk and whatever their Silver Sable/Black Cat plans shifted to, so clearly the deal only applies to their movie slate. 3.) With the major investment Disney just put into Disneyland to add a Marvel area with the clear and major focal point being a Tom Holland Spider Man starring ride and next level Spider Man animatronics they're not just going dump him and advertise Sonys Spider Man for free for years to come. Combine all that with the fact that Spider Man is the biggest star of the Marvel comics universe, and I'd say it paints a pretty good picture of things to come. Of course Disney doesn't NEED Spider Man, but that doesn't mean they don't WANT Spider Man, come on man.
  16. That would be amazing, but I don't think they're far enough into production to have thrown him in considering how long ago this was filmed. Oscar Isaac was only cast a few months ago and he just started doing his fight training, I'm not sure they've even started filming anything related to him yet.
  17. So word on the street is the cameo is a preexisting character from Marvel comics who HASNT been seen yet in the MCU, it's not setting up a movie so it's probably a smaller role, it's a high profile prestigous actor, it's a "grounded" character, someone the director would like to see playing against someone like Thor, it is NOT whoever is playing the Power Broker... After taking all that into consideration and racking my brain...I really have no idea...I'm trying to think of smaller characters who could have ties to the prevailing story lines at play here. A flashback for Zemo showing his father the original Baron Zemo maybe? D Man or Sharon Ventura/Ms Marvel? Union Jack or Citizen V? Songbird or Moonstone? Stumped doesn't begin to describe it, chances are it's no one and we'll all get it wrong again and they'll pull another Bohner
  18. Books arrived today snug as bugs in rugs. If anyone questions where Rupps shipping costs go it's to safely and securely packing books I'd say he provides the postage itself for practically free
  19. This is amazing! I have this and a few other early super serials on VHS, and if I had the duckets to throw down I would snap this up in a heartbeat
  20. Almost old enough to be Steven Yeuns father Perhaps he could be Namors older cousin Byrrah?
  21. He certainly has the chiseled features of Namor, but I think he may be a tad too old at 52 to have a long future in the MCU with a big character like Namor. He certainly could be a good villain? Maybe Attuma? Steven Yeun has that "Best actor Oscar nomination but not really made it yet as a star" quality Marvel likes to cast for their major characters.
  22. I can't wait to see Marvel's interpretation of Atlantis. I think it's gonna skew more to the mystical side of things. Whoever they pick to play Namor will be fantastic casting. If I had to pick an actor off the top of my head I'd say maybe Steven Yeun? He's a bit older which I think they should skew towards for a more kingly Namor and after Minari and Invincible in the last year I think he's proven his range and he has the experience to play a complex and complicated character if he could bulk up enough. If they can get around the complications of their contract with Universal about Hulk I think they can do it with Namor too.
  23. I had hope for this because I enjoyed Skull Island so much, but that ended up pretty well dashed. Far too many human characters, the female scientist and native girl were the only ones I cared for. I don't think Millie Bobby Brown is a good actress and the guy who plays her father is catastrophicly bad. I could've done without that entire set of Godzilla 2014 related characters (anybody know how the dad got to China by the way?) The hollow earth section was interesting but poorly executed. It seemed really sparse for something that's supposed to have a whole ecosystem of Kaiju when compared to Skull Islands or King of the Monsters plethora of creatures. That set of bad guys were so contrived and forgettable that I was rooting for the bat creatures to get their dinner. Apex seemed unnecessary when Monarch was already tracking all these beasts and doing their own research. I liked Serizawas son, but not the Apex guy he was working with he was nothing but a walking trope. They could've just as easily cut him and made Serizawas son a tech billionaire and coupled that with wanting revenge on Godzilla for his father giving up his life to detonate the bomb in KotM. I understand the need to make Mechagodzilla thinner so he could articulate better, but he looked like a tweaked out Meth-a-godzilla. Godzilla and Kong should've triumphed under their own devices rather than having them be assisted by a human who spilled some liquid on a computer. Overall I'd give it a 4/10.
