Funny story about this art. A few weeks ago Glenn from Panel Page art posted this for sale for $50K. I recognized the art from the treasury cover, and noticed he only mentioned the calendar, so I made a comment, thinking he’d be thrilled that the art was also used for a treasury cover (should be worth even more). He informed me that, as you mention in the post above, the treasury cover was a copy of the original calendar art which he had for sale. I went and double checked my copy, and sure enough, no Byrne/Austin sig.

Could be David, but I’m not sure. Feels a bit like Sal Buscema as well. Whoever it is, this wasn’t their best work haha.

I think part of the problem is that Instagram payment methods are creeping into other online transactions. I would guess 95% of IG sales ask for F&F right in the video (live claim sales) or post. I’ve never seen anyone complain.

Thank you! Unfortunately, I don’t think they made a display box for #3 (I think that’s what you’re referring to). There isn’t a Whitman version of #3, just the standard version you can see peeking out behind the Topps boxes. Or maybe you mean the green box? There is a green display box for #1. I think I posted a pic way back. I would love to have one of those, but I’ve never seen one for sale, plus I like how the display is symmetrical now haha.

Just picked up this Whitman display for Star Wars #1 Had to make a set with the Volume II display.

Is it worth noting that it appears the return package was not insured? The original shipment was dutifully insured for $499 because it had a $500 slab inside. The return shipment was not insured because...there was no book inside?

Sorry to see this. Not surprised though. The guy is constantly calling people names, getting threads locked and generally being a person_who_is_obnoxiously_self-impressed. First person I’ve ever put on ignore - and I’ve been here a long time! I can’t believe he hasn’t been banned before now.

It’s a tough book in high grade. The black/dark cover doesn’t help IMO.

Thanks! Sorry to hear about your books. I’d guess 9.2 as well. The micro crease in the URC probably keeps it below 9.4, but you never know.

Recent pick ups. I thought this slipcase for the two Doomsday Clock hardcovers was really cool! I’m a sucker for gimmicks like that.
