  1. This is a tough book because of the white front cover. It looks like you have some staining on the front cover below Spidey's left elbow and above the cloud. Possibly another stain on the upper right back cover. Color rub in the orange upper left front cover. I'm curious what others would say but I have gotten killed on grading by cover stains that I didn't see before I submitted. Having said all that this is a better copy that the one I have.
  2. I've noticed that larger CGC shipments seem to have less scuffs than smaller shipments. I had a 4 book value tier that I received and 3 out of the 4 books had scuffs or spots in the inner well. CGC reslabbed them for me but when they came back all three still had spots and scuffs so I decided to live with it. The slabs were rubber banded together and then wrapped in bubble wrap so I think the slabs rattled together during the shipment. I received a 19 and 13 book shipment in the bigger boxes where they are shipped vertically and separated with a piece of cardboard and there were much fewer slabs scratched and scuffed. I posted on the boards about it a few months ago any many others seem to have similar experiences...
  3. Grading/Quality Control: 8/5 Finalized /Image/Shipped: 8/7 I live in North Carolina does anyone know how long it should be till I get my book back? I think it is too hard to make a shipping prediction these days based on the shipping delays from COVID. UPS and FEDEX seem to be more reliable but if you shipped it USPS I would be prepared for delays. I had a 19 book shipment via USPS registered mail that stopped updating after it left the USPS office in Sarasota. After 30 days it started moving again once I filed an insurance claim through USPS. The best thing to do is keep tracking it daily and make an inquiry if it is overdue by more than a week.
  4. The last shipment I sent in was received by CGC on March 5th 2020 and it took 62 BUSINESS days before it made it from CCS to CGC.
  5. This is a great question. I was thinking about this myself the other day. I would also be curious how the cases stand up to smoke damage, standing water from burst pipes or natural flooding, direct sunlight and other day to day disasters or mistakes. I am already well versed on that they look like after rough handling from the postal service.
  6. I just moved to Orlando and I wanted to drop off my books but they have suspended it due to COVID-19. Once things clear up the assumption is they will start in person drop offs again. There seems to be a lot of disagreement on the boards on whether CCS does a good job of cleaning and pressing. One point that is indisputable is it adds roughly 60 business days to the turnaround time. Also, see the below cut and paste from the CGC FAQ that describes the defects that can and cannot be improved with cleaning and pressing: The first step is to identify a comic book’s “good” defects and “bad” defects. In short, good defects can be diminished or removed with pressing, and the bad defects cannot. Here is a comprehensive list of both: Good defects (do not break color) Bad defects Dents Bends Folds Light creases Minor spine stresses Impacted corners or edges Warping Ripples (with no stains present) Spine rolls Waviness Stacking bends Cover impressions Light pencil marks (usually in white areas) Dirt Substance Creases that break color Missing chips or pieces Tears Stains Detached staples or staple tears Spine stresses that break color Fading Fingerprints or smudges Dust shadows or sun shadows Rusted staples or rust stains Rounded or blunted corners Pen markings or printer ink Cover veins Brown or brittle cover or pages Identifying good press candidates can be challenging because it requires you to understand the projected outcome. It is important to have a comprehensive understanding of CGC’s grading standards and to be able to visualize the grade of the comic without the presence of removable defects. It is important to note that just because a comic exhibits good defects does not mean it will automatically increase in grade with a pressing. The good defects must be weighed against the presence of any bad defects. For instance, a comic book graded 8.5 with a moderate non-color breaking bend and fingerprints may still grade an 8.5 after pressing due to the fingerprints.
  7. I sent in a 238 with tattoos several months ago and got the blue label no problem and I didn't specify a variant. The pouch w/tattoos was firmly attached in the book where it was supposed to be. As long as everything is where it is supposed to be there shouldn't be a problem. For 238s without tattoos I believe they receive a green qualified label.
  8. I think the best answer is there is no good reason other than laziness. In my humble opinion an eBay seller should post a picture of the actual item for sale. I always check the registry number in the CGC database before I buy a slab an eBay to avoid any funny business.
  9. 2 comic re-holder F/I/S today. Full disclosure, I changed addresses and there was a credit card billing address issue that held up shipping. Apparently they were ready to go on July 13th. This delay was on me
  10. My 2 comic re-holder order has been stuck in grading/quality control since July 10th. I hope these are the shiniest and scuff free CGC cases in the history of comics.
  11. One of my CGC shipments (roughly $1100 in value tier comics) was mailed from CGC to my home address on June 16th via registered mail. One June 17th the USPS tracking update reported it was sent out from the USPS office in Tampa, FL. There were no other updates from June 17th to July 14th. Previous CGC shipments took roughly 4-6 business days to get from CGC to my house. On July 14th I filed a lost package claim and within 48 hours the post office "found it" and it started moving again through the system. My claim did not report what happened to the box and I may never find out what happened to it but it is moving through the system and I hope to receive it next week. The bottom line is it seems all USPS shipments are delayed due to COVID and other factors. If your package is not where it is suppose to be and you arent getting the updates you want you should file a lost package claim. When I filed mine it seems to have lit a fire and my issue got the attention it deserved. I only hope that my package isn't damaged and the slabs arent cracked...
  12. Update-I filed a lost package insurance claim and within 48 hours the box was moving again. It took 30 calendar days to move from Sarasota, FL to Kansas City, MO but it looks like it is moving again. Hopefully the box doesn't look like a NASA space capsule that went through earth reentry when it shows up on my door step.
  13. I received an email from USPS regarding my lost package inquiry. They said they were unable to locate the package and advised me to file a lost package insurance claim. Approximately $1500 worth of silver age ASM books dropped off the face of the earth.
  14. Was the box or books damaged? I am worried that my registered mail box is going to have tire tracks or a forklift fork puncture on it.
  15. It was 72 business days but I had CCS services as well. They were received by CGC on April 30th though so the turnaround times are different now.
  16. I have a 14 book value shipment via USPS that was forwarded from USPS Tampa on June 17th. There has been no update since then and I have filed a lost package claim with USPS. They are looking into it... The frustrating part is I moved to Orlando so I am two hours away from CGC headquarters. If they would slide it out the front gate I would have been happy to make the 4 hour round trip to pick it up. The gas would have been cheaper than the shipping price I was charged as well.
  17. My last value shipment (w/CCS services) was received on 4/30/20 and shipped back to me on 6/16/20 in 23 business days. I think the turnaround times have slowed a little since then though.
  18. REHOLDER COMICS x 2 Shipped to CGC: 6/17/20 Delivered to CGC: 6/22/20 Received/CGC Submission Acknowledgement Email: 6/25/20 Grading/Quality Control: 7/10/20 (11 business days)
