  1. I am a proud owner of an ASM 238 9.6W Universal myself (picked it up at a comic show for $50 in 1995). I have been following the jump in FMV recently for higher grade 238s. Is it due to speculation that Ned Leeds will become Hobgoblin in the next movie? Is that official? I saw some speculation on that because the actor recently lost some weight and posted that on his twitter feed but I haven't seen it confirmed.
  2. Just picked up this ASM 31 and ASM 121 combo. Poor Gwen Stacy.
  3. I had a similar case earlier this year. My CGC return shipment package was scanned into the Tampa, FL USPS regional facility and there was no futher movement for two weeks. I filed a lost package claim through the USPS website myself and within a week the package started moving through the system again and made it to my home in Omaha a week later. The claim was for $1200 the FMV of all the books in the shipment. I never found out what happened but my suspicion is the registered mail package somehow got misplaced within a USPS center and stopped movement. I would encourage you to file the USPS package yourself instead of CGC so you can track the claim yourself rather than ask CGC for updates.
  4. Agreed super weird. Did it look like the box had been opened at all by the receiving department? Did you have the books in order and have a copy of the packing slip in the package? Also, on the FEDEX shipping tracking website did it have a name for who signed for it when it was marked delivered at CGC? You should probably have that name accessible for when you call customer service. If they acknowledge responsibility for this it would be nice if they would pay for your shipping back to them.
  5. Picked up this ASM #73 9.0 W last week. This definitely has the cleanest white cover and pages in my silver age ASM collection.
  6. You get a savings on the en-route and return shipping when you send in a large batch of books. You also pay a $5 handling fee and a separate return shipping cost (registered mail, FEDex or UPS) for each tier. It is important to note that you get charged a separate handling and return shipping fee for each tier. For example, if you send 1 modern book and 1 value book you will pay the grading fees for each and you will also pay shipping and handling of $37 for each book and they will ship back separately. If you send 10 moderns and 10 values the shipping and handling costs for each book would be $5.40 per book. You also save on the shipping to CGC since you could package all 20 raws in a large box at once. The shipping rates for registered mail are below. You can use FEDEX and UPS as well but they only insure up to $100 so depending on the book values that may make sense.
  7. Have you noticed any down time on the GO COLLECT site recently? Recently I have had several instances per day where the site won't load when I need a time sensitive quotes to make an offer. I try to query an issue and the website doesn't load.
  8. Ninja- You will know it is done with pressing once you receive a second CGC submission acknowledgement email. That will indicate it has been transferred to CGC grading and encapsulation. I recently submitted a modern and value shipment for CCS and CGC services and my timelines were: VALUE Shipped to CGC: 6/17/20 Delivered to CGC: 6/22/20 Received/CGC Submission Acknowledgement Email: 6/25/20 CCS Payment Acknowledgement Email: 8/26/20 44 business days CGC Payment Acknowledgement Email: 9/14/20 Scheduled For Grading: 9/14/20 12 business days Grading/Quality Control: 10/24/20 29 business days Finalized/Imaged/Shipped: 10/26/20 1 business day MODERN Shipped to CGC: 6/17/20 Delivered to CGC: 6/22/20 Received/CGC Submission Acknowledgement Email: 6/25/20 CCS Payment Acknowledgement Email: 8/26/20 44 business days Scheduled For Grading: 9/14/20 12 business days Grading/Quality Control: 9/29/20 11 business days Finalized/Imaged/Shipped: 10/1/20 2 business days
  9. Here is a pretty good example of marvel chipping on the right side of my ASM #6.
  10. Reholder fee is the $15 CGC charges to reslabe the book. My post above shows all the other indirect costs you have to pay to get it reslabbed. My point is it costs more than $15.
  11. One key point here is the cost to get it reslabbed. Sometimes people will quote you only $15 to get it reslabbed but it will cost between $50-68 to get 1 book reslabbed if you send it in by itself. I have filed several priority mail insurance claims due to receiving a cracked slab in the mail due to rough handling by the post office. $15 shipping to CGC+ $5 handling fee + $15 reholdering fee + $15 ship back from CGC via FEDEX or $34 registered mail.
