  1. Here's a cover from August of 1969. I think they did an excellent job with great covers throughout the series. It appears they could have used some help from Magnus Robot Fighter.
  2. Wow! That might be the very best cover of the entire run! (thumbs u Fantastic book, with the volcano framed in the background just above the wings of the flying monster.
  3. Backing this thread up just a moment. These early Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea books you have are brilliant. I especially like #4 & 5.
  4. Is an OMG appropriate here? Fantastic OAAW 99, and the 700th page of this thread!!
  5. It's great how the skating movement and dust clouds come to life on this cover. I just picked up a few issues of Action Comics this week. I will have to see if I can corner a few more Detective or Batman books in the near future. It's all about focus, after all.
  6. Maybe the boys picked up that idea from the Jr. Woodchuck manual. It seem like "that certain" season is nearly here again. #128 May 1951
  7. I hate it when my spreadsheeet seems to lie but it's typically my short boxes who ate the comics. Sweet Scrooges Hepcat. I agree the yellow on that # 9 really pops. Oddly enough my #8 was stashed in a short box, and not lurking in the long box where it's normally found. It's in way worse condition than I remembered, however.
  8. Cool book! (thumbs u Here are scans of my Uncle Scrooge comics: 34 37 38 Hepcat, Great run of Scrooges. (thumbs u I have, or my spreadsheet "says" I have # 8, but I cannot seem to locate it. Your issue number 9 is awesome.
  9. I've always loved that cover! It's another Detective I need to pick up for my collection. (thumbs u I know, same here. and its a pretty good and interesting story. and ive been looking for it for awhile now. there was even a couple on the for sale thread at decent prices that i missed so i was pretty excited when i saw it. i snatched it up not even knowing the price. he only charged me $40 for it. frozentundra- ive got the negative batman on the way to my house. i love the "psychadelic" detective covers. This isnt my copy but thought id share it so people can see how cool it is. Ive had #284 on my list for quite a while, now with #275 added the queue is not too long, and it's been a while since I have added a Detective Comic to my collection. I find I gravitate to covers with the Batmobile. but have others also. This one's kind of different, the flying Bat-Cave. One small issue, who pilot's the Bat-Cave when both Batman and Robin bail?
  10. Cool, keep us posted via a scan or two. I would like to see what those Fantagraphics look like. (thumbs u WDCS # 176 May 1955 The boys are prepared for Donald's reaction to their subpar grades.
  11. I picked these reader copies up at the LCS a few days ago. Oddly the LCS has more Silver Age Green Lantern books than anything else from the S.A.
  12. I've always loved that cover! It's another Detective I need to pick up for my collection. (thumbs u Great cover. I'm adding that one to my want list along with #284, the "Negative Batman".
  13. The flaming oil really stands out on this cover. Anyone ever notice that Plastic Man, (the 40's version that is) was 20 or 30 years ahead of time with his sunglasses.
  14. Tremendous books. The early TOS's and TTA's are sweet.
  15. I have to get going on the issues from the 140's, I'm not too far away from completing them.
  16. Great cover concept! Here are scans of a few more of my Actions: Northland copy The #304 was the first Action comic I remember buying as a kid. Great issues. "Borko of Gorn". I wonder if the TV show Star Trek borrowed the Gorn name for one episode. IIRC Kirk has to face an reptilian alien on a neutral planet, and is in grave danger until he gathers up the raw materials for gun powder and makes his own home made gun. Kirk had dropped a large bolder on the Gorn earlier but it barely phased the alien.
  17. Nice copy of the #235. (thumbs u I have a coy of #380 myself. #304 Clayface, my favorite Detective Comic issue from 1962.
  18. Hepcat, Those are some neat comics, of a great TV show. I never could decide if I liked The Munsters or the Adams family best. I have a few Dr. Solar's. My copy of of Malloys book arrived. Great book, but absolutely minimal text as you mentioned. I now have the Scarponi book on order.
  19. Olsen and Brainiac team-up and Luthor with Super Powers. Great books. Is Jimmy having a falling out with Superman.
  20. That makes me wonder, did Jughead ever turn into a werewolf? And we thought Superman had a lot of books to appear in. I took a quick count of "Archie" titles with at least ten comics in the run, and found 18. There are five Jughead titles with more than 10 issues also.
  21. The Jimmy covers being "wacky" that's part of the ploy to differentiate this book from Superman. How about the "Tiny Superman", intriguing enough to shell out another ten cents for.
  22. Thanks, These books were somewhat reminicent of the Showcase series, but featured some of the best G.A. and S.A.stories, featuring the likes of Silent Kinght, the Atom, Hawkman, Sgt Rock, the Challengers and more. One of my favorites from B&B 115 is the Viking Prince story. Here's the letter to the editor I referred to, from Detective Comics #440. If I recall correctly issue 440 features a great G.A. Manhunter story.
  23. I rescanned my copy of Mr Tracy. It's in rough shape, but it is the first issue with the two way wristwatch radio. I posted my lone issue of the Sparlker in the "GA Short Bus thread ...".
  24. Cool books Hepcat. (thumbs u I know Ive read some of these, but cannot recall the name of the littlest duck holding the football.
