  1. Wow, this thread's growing exponentially. Terry and the Pirates, excellent books.
  2. This thread needs a bump. I seem recall being a bit hesitant to buy these comics as a kid. They were not Marvel, nor DC, and the dialouge seemed to be typewritten and oversized. However those painted covers really stood out. #33 April 1969 #16 March 1967
  3. Amazing copy, that book looks to be as fresh as the day it was printed. (thumbs u He has many more in that kind of shape. He's like that you know. A co-worker? Where do you work, a comic shop? I don't believe I'd get any bids to purchase were I to display my comics at my office. I dont work at a comic book shop. I have brought books in to work a few times over the years, but only once did someone express interest in buying books. The man in question had a excellent collection of Morgan Silver dollars. In fact he had several albums full of them, so he was a collector at heart. I wound up selling 3 or 4 S.A. books to him. Even he was taken by surprise at how quickly the cost of the books mounted up, as he originally wanted to buy every book I had brought into work. I have noticed Steelcity has some fantastic books, along with Hepcat, and a few others. (thumbs u
  4. Hepcat, Thanks. Now if I could only drop my golfing hobby, I could pick up better quality books. I recall a co-worker talked me into selling him this issue a few years ago. I had sellers remorse and found another copy quickly.
  5. Amazing copy, that book looks to be as fresh as the day it was printed. (thumbs u
  6. Somehow I had missed Action #282. DC beat the Terminator to the punch by over 20 years (skin over steel) Not sure what Superman is thinking here. It looks to be a pretty crowded flight.
  7. Completely true. Especially if you like to read the books, then you can buy mid-grade copies on the cheap and go to town. (thumbs u Agreed, sometimes Wings books are priced very reasonably in autions. I paid under $20 for this book last year. The book does have a light 2 1/2 inch crease in the lower right hand corner, otherwise it would have been around VF-.
  8. I dont believe this cover has been posted recently. #20
  9. Hepcat, Those are some stunning copies you have. I am amazed at the great covers of this run. I had not paid too much attention to this title until recently... thanks to your posts. I briefly checked the GCD site and found Kirby did two covers, 11 # 12.
  10. Back to DC for GIC 190 Cover by Luis Dominguez. Haunted tank story art by Glanzman.
  11. It is amazing how much Charlton was able to improve overall on it's covers from the mid S.A. to the B.A. (thumbs u
  12. An 80 page giant from a couple of years later. I wonder if DC will do somthing akin to the 2000 Millenium issues in two years, to celebrate 75 years.
  13. That issue is a treasure trove for Fortress of Solitude fans. (thumbs u
  14. I was given this book as a gift back in the late 90's. Superboy #27 September 1953
  15. I remember when I got my copy of that book it was cool to see that I had the original to one of the cover stories, and probably the most obscure reprint in the book. Silver, Amazing books, especially Action #197 (thumbs u Aman619 & Atlas fan, Thanks for the assist with the assist on the pronunciation of Mr. Mxyzptlk. (thumbs u
  16. Speaking of Mr. mxyzptlk. Is that pronounced "Mick tizzle pick", or "Mix zip lock"? From July 1962 # 154
  17. "Grand" books". I'm adding Annual # 8 to my want list. I always wondered about the origin of Mr. Mxyzptlk.
  18. I will have to add #149 to my want list along with #146. I had often wondered why Superman was "forgotten" in issue #150. He dies in issue #149 and is forgotten after one month?? Yikes .. People have short memories.
  19. :applause:ending on a high note! Beauty (thumbs u Silver, SUPER. You just mentioned you had one issue to go and now your done. What's up next Doc?
  20. Superman was snoozing in Action #268, now it Luthor's turn. I don't have issue #319, which has the conclusion of this story, but I would venture to guess his death is not final.
  21. Nice, I had not seen this cover before. (thumbs u I like the Phantom zone.
  22. #115 My favorite GI Combat of the issues in my collection.
  23. (thumbs u Esp. SPJO #111 Ugly Superman is probably going to be tied into knots, trying to out elasticize the Elastic Lad.
  24. I definitely like the book, however. (thumbs u
