  1. Excellent copy of a "tough" issue to find in higher grade. (thumbs u
  2. Herc almost needed to see a chiropracter. #268 September 1960 - More Hercules. DC switched from pink to Lavender?? Trivia question. How many types of magic does Hercules use in his battle with Superman? Who comes to Superman's aid to awaken him from his 100 year slumber?
  3. Thanks guys, Before I continue on with my short stack of GIC's, I have this book. # 107 February 1965. Pencils by Irv Norvick. This ones marred by a bit more writing, and alas is my only AAMOW to date.
  4. It's a great read. I'd still like to pick up another couple pages of original art from this book. Are you referring to an online database? Outside of the issues mentioned, he (Desmond) also appeared (in the SA) in Flash 153 and 165 My comment was just that I didn't have this particular book listed in my Xcel DB. I keep my book in listed in an Xcel sheet, and create a new one each year. That gives me some sense of the growth of my collection. I also track my books using the Nostomania site. The site automatically calculates the books changing values every 3 months, if I recall correctly. It's free, although you can pay if you wish to, if you want more than the basic features.
  5. I took a look and found I do have a copy of #147 available, to take a closer look at Mr. Element. Issue #147 wasn't even listed in my database. At any rate, now that I have scanned the start of part II of the story, I might as well read this book again.
  6. Amazing books! (thumbs u I will have to keep an eye out for issue #19, that's one I would like to add at some point.
  7. Nice one! (thumbs u Thanks Hepcat & Bill977. I was able to obtain this one from a LCS a few years ago. The shop had just received a large influx of comics, evidently from one collector. Many of the books have the name "Sue", or the letters "S", "gn" or T" on the cover. At any rate the books tend to be pretty nice except for the lettering. Does anyone enjoy the Charlton war books? I have a few of those plus more GIC, a handful of the other big 5 titles, and a few Sgt Fury's also.
  8. I have been slowly working on collecting G. I. Combat, since Kubert is one of may favorite artists. (BTW that #49 is awesome) #111
  9. Action Comics #279 August 1961. Is Superman making a mental note to get a headband? Or, is he free from women trouble at least temporarily.
  10. Hepcat, I love your HOS collection. I'm a big fan DC SCI-FI and this is one of my favorite titles. I just won the HOS 35 in the latest C-link auction. I must admit I got it for a steal--less than guide. It's a nice 8.0 with a beautiful red cover and a Mark Merlin cover story! Pleae keep displaying yours. Thanks, SLR I recently took the plunge and picked up an issue of HOS #63, the first in my collection. I also must comment on HOS 41. That is one awesome cover.
  11. Cant say that I mind, that's quite a feat to have them all arranged in one group. (thumbs u This is the extent of my S. A. Lois Lane books. I do recall trading for #2 as a lad, but cannot recall the book I traded.
  12. WOW that's a lot of Lois Lane!! That is a grand collection. (thumbs u
  13. Heres my #164. It has only very a few light stress lines along the spine, but exhibits loss of cover gloss. There is also some minor soiling, around the edges of the book, and is more noticable on the right side.
  14. Love your comics! You're still the king of Superman collectors on this board. (thumbs u Ive gotta concur, for consistent high quality Superman books, Silver has em!
  15. Here's an example of a cover crossover between DC and Marvel. Tales of the Unexpected #87 March 1965, and Sgt. Fury #43 June 1967. Only a small sweat worked up, at least the car didn't change. Seeing double of Sgt. Fury and the Howlers coming at you is a good reason to work youself into a sweat.
  16. It might be interestring to show comic books with similar covers. In some cases the publisher borrows from itself, or one borrows from the other. Covers could also be similar, but just by accident. Since these two are nearly identical, I suspect someone may have borrowed the cover idea from the earlier issue. #63 Dec 1963 #43 May 1965
  17. Just my luck, a quick check shows I have none of those issues. It seems to me with the cash being strewn about, there would be a few more interested followers. #146
  18. Luthor challenged Superman to a fight on even terms. They duel on a planet with a red sun, so Superman has no powers. Superman goes one step further and makes gravity shoes for Luthor, since the gravity on the planet in question is greater than it is on Earth, to ensure the matchup is equal.
  19. Hepcat, Thanks! This is my favorite issue in the 160's.
  20. Hepcat, Killer copies on those three issues. I especially like issue 163, where Wonderman temporarily steals Supermans thunder. I have been chipping away on the 160's fairly recently, but am only about 1/2 way complete. I was able to complete all of the issues in the 150's last year.
  21. To date my earliest Strange Adventure. There were many great "earth" covers in the late 50's in this title along with Mystery in Space. #103
  22. Nice run of TTA's . (thumbs u I bought this book from Harley Yee a few years ago at a CON.
