  1. I just got back a slab from CGC and though I can’t see any visual indicators of anything new - the thing is very much sealed tight on all 4 edges. Any other gen 3 slabs in my collection can be pried gently apart along top and bottom - and a few on sides. This was how people were paper or other objects to remove or lessen newton rings without actually opening the slab.
  2. This has been somewhat easy for us - I am CA based too. East coast people have to be really dedicated.
  3. Thst was probably the last book for me. Filling a few holes. This has been great. Thanks to @Kramerica and the rest of you animals for the fun. But I will also be happy to have some of my life back.
  4. Apparently these last books are being made from real bronze
  5. Only 90 pages….i thought this was going to last as long as the reholder scam thread
  6. These comments are very revealing about the demographics of this thread........
  7. Thanks for letting the more junior members play too.....
  8. It's surprising the more judges don't go postal after years of listening to these type of legal arguments back and forth......
  9. Take at 20% off Avengers #100 Copy B VF- 7.5 $50.00 Incredible Hulk #150 F/VF 7.0 $15.00 Marvel Super Special #16 Empire Strikes Back VF/NM 9.0 $125.00 Now $110.00 Amazing Spider-Man #157 VF- 7.5 $9.00
  10. Surprisingly strong result on Heritage tonight. Last 5.0 sale was $8500 in Mar 2023 and a 6.5 sold for $8400 in Dec 2023. This is a new record on GPA. Prior peak was $9k
  11. Not my channel. But for a year or so I was tracking what I was calling a "Dow 30 for Comics" that was tracking 10 books x 3 grade levels across Silver, Bronze, and Copper/Modern - so 90 different books in an attempt to get a sense of the market. The overall trends were pretty much what Swagglehaus' analysis was showing so I'll just let him do all the work
  12. updated index for those interested. I stopped doing my “Dow 30” analysis as this started becoming available as the tale was more or less the same.
  13. So this is probably of little interest to anyone - but I am originally from Cookeville and Leroy Mackie was my father-in-law for a time. Jimmy still attends the same church as my parents. I was very much a part of the Mackie household around the time of the initial sale in the early 1990s but in all the time we spent together I don't ever recall him mentioning the collection to me. Maybe I was too young and too interested in other pursuits at that time (my comic collecting was on pause for sure). I was really surprised when I first heard the tale of this collection a couple of years ago - really wish I had gotten to see it. Or better yet - got "gifted" a few books for being such a great son-in-law
  14. So this investigation was underway long before the re-holdering incident. But might give everyone a sense of how long it might take for more details on the re-holdering to become more public
  15. To the question of whether the current holder scam would impact value of books like ASM 194, 238, and 300 - the 238 results noted above might be just about the book itself. The 300 9.8 closed right in line with recent sales and above 90 day at $3360 and the 194 9.8 Newsstand ended bit higher than recent sales at $2880.
  16. Plus you aren’t re-holdering and keeping the Greenwich Collection sticker (post grading application). A lot of these Greenwich books have been coming thru Heritage over the past few months https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/11931/greenwich-spiderman-poison-ivy-batman/
