  1. This 3.0 sold on Elite for something under the $12.2K (Direct offer accepted) which is in the zone of the 3.0 that sold on Heritage in early Jan. The 3.5 Heritage is definitely not the best low grade I have seen and is arguably a bit worse than the 3.0 Elite. I agree with @mjoeyoung - doubling the GPA recents seems like a real outlier. The third photo is the CGC scan of the Elite book
  2. Given how soft many FF books have been of late - this one really over-performed
  3. As we wrap up January - updated chart including the 4.5 Heritage sale on 1/29
  4. I can get behind that as a customer service approach. Especially if this list of +300 books is truly the scope. A policy could be the higher of replacement value or purchase price - if no valid receipt or proof of purchase in some form then you get replacement value + 10%.
  5. I would agree if your book is not easily replaceable. But if you can easily replace your lost copy at $3K then that is what they should pay you (plus hopefully some cushion). Your effective cost is exactly the same as if this event never happened should you buy back in.
  6. Again - what you purchased it for should be irrelevant. You should get paid $3K because that is what it will cost you to replace it. I used the car example before but the same works for home owners insurance. You buy a house for $200k 30 years ago that is worth $3M today - your replacement cost is something much closer to $3M.
  7. I know this has been discussed already somewhere in these 300+ pages but not sure why this wouldn't work just like any other insurance with a payment based on replacement value. you total your car - it is irrelevant what you paid for it. You drop $4k on an ASM 300 that is now worth $3k based on pretty measurable results - pay the defrauded owner $3k and they can decide if they want to purchase a new ASM 300 or just keep the cash. They were sitting on a $1k paper loss already - but can buy right back in that the current rates if that is a book they want. 90% of books on the list have pretty established sales data - almost weekly sales data. And if you want to be very customer friendly - use a source like GPA 90 Day Average and offer that plus 10-15% to cover any slight variations in cost or other transaction costs. The less common books (signature series) may need to be handled on a case by case basis.
  8. I was going to post this update tomorrow in the AF15 thread after the 4.5 closes in the Heritage auction but will post a prelim copy now...... Prices have been relatively stable especially in the sub-4.0 books. A few outliers on 5.0 books really mess up a clean trend line.
  9. to the point of all depends on who is watching the auctions week to week - posted the below results in the AF 15 thread earlier,
  10. Here are the Session 1A and 1B results from ComicLink. I tried to throw a few more "random" books in this time for whatever it is worth. Results seem to be all over the map - some titles appear to be pretty frosty right now while there are a few signs of potential stabilization for others. As a reminder - 2021 averages are now gone from GPA.
  11. I doubt this would ever happen but…..as we now live in a world where doubt and skepticism abounds and trust in people, companies, and institutions continue to erode for both legitimate and illegitimate reasons - it would be valuable for CGC to bring in someone like @comicwiz into the inner workings of this investigation. At the appropriate time (possibly close to the end of their work), have him sign an NDA and open the kimono to him as a representative of the stakeholders in the community. some people will never believe what Matt or CGC say (or other professionals such as those at the auction houses) - so find an independent voice that can validate and report within the confines of a NDA. CGC is in the business of trust - this situation may warrant doing something out of the norm to help.
  12. Maybe there is a bit of room to negotiate on this one…..
  13. Working on it now......will probably post Session 1 A and B results over the weekend. It does seem to be schizophrenic - wild swings from over to under-performance. Some very healthy bidding in the final minute on some books - watched a few 4-figure books double the price in that window.
  14. the ASM 300 9.8 sold for $3300 which is a bit above last sale and over $200 higher than 90 day.
  15. A little over a week apart. Both with MC but the better PQ actually sold for less. The higher sale was part of the Signature auction.....
  16. As a follow-up to the current status of re-holdering. I sent in an ASM 300 9.8 in a 2nd Gen slab for a re-holder - mailed off about a week before this news broke. My book WAS NOT one of the books listed on the CGC list. Just received the book: - Book retained the 9.8 grade - Book retained the same certification number but with a new grading date of 1/4/2024 - No pictures yet on the CGC site. The one odd thing which may be some CGC internal process - when I clicked through My Submissions on this book it takes me to a totally different certification number that shows the same grading date but with no grade listed. https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/0908826005/ - this is cert on the actual book I just received and matches the original 2nd Gen slab https://www.cgccomics.com/certlookup/4369276001/ - this is the cert you get when clicking through My Submissions/Submission #.
