  1. Been getting stuck with a lot of doubles lately 🤷🏽‍♂️ 🤷🏽‍♂️
  2. My A-J volume came with the dust jacket and is still in one all these years. My K-Z volume was unfortunately missing the jacket and was sold to me that way.
  3. The partial date stamp is accurate 😆
  4. Got this in a trade last week. Yes, that’s a giant dust shadow
  5. Makes sense as Schomburg was working for Better before Timely.
  6. You can’t omit the 9 sidebar just cuz it has all text 🤷🏽‍♂️
  7. My first golden age book(s) was probably an Action 35 or Superman 15 around 1994. I believe the Superman 15 was first. It was heavily chipped and brittle. The Action 35 was a nice VG. I remember choosing the Action 35 over a Bat 3 (missing CF and one other wrap). They were both priced at $175 each at the time. My first Timely was a Human Torch 4, which I got from Mike Carbonaro at Wondercon 1995. I traded him about a dozen Marvels in low grade (including a JIM 83, Avengers 1, FF5) for the Torch 4. The Torch 4 was about a FN. I think Carbo had a sticker price of $1200 or so on it. http://www.mikesamazingworld.com/mikes/features/comic.php?comicid=52998
  8. That's one of the fewer copies showing most of Schomburg's signature on the curvature of the lever. It is miscut alot on this book. It's a unique placement style here as Schomburg typically signed his last name horizontally in a box (Suspense 3), horizontally or angled w/out a box (Exciting 32), vertically w/out a box (USA 7), or horizontally and split (All Select 1)
  9. There's a few books that cover several months - All Select 5 (below the Mask 1) and Headline Comics 12 (far lower left belong the Green Lama). The All Select 5 was out Oct 1944 and the Headline 12 was out January 1945. Mask 1 has a cover date of Feb/Mar 1945, which would put it out around Dec 44.
  10. got my set in 1995 - I studied them like I was taking the SAT and I become a Timely collector Congrats on getting a set
  11. OCT's are very tough with only a 80k print run to begin with. A PLOD OCT copy just traded privately recently. They are rarely offered publicly. I have probably caught wind of less than 10 total OCT copies in the last thirty years of collecting Timelys. NOV copies tell the whole story if you have one with the black slug light enough to still see the OCT beneath it. Good conversation piece.
  12. I've grown to love this cover - Schomburg's sophisticated hoses/gauges, the helmet of death, Blue Blaze in his speedo swimsuit, and the creature behind him with shoes on LOL
