  1. you've conquered the challenge Ryan. That painting actually makes me want a copy of that book now (sorta)
  2. Piece mailing your GA keys is in now
  3. Impeccable timing. Folks spend years looking to complete copies of GA books. Congrats Peter.
  4. yes if you want to resto that I'd find a more complete FC. Otherwise, crack the rest and Mylar it up with the FC. What timing to get that complete. I'm wondering if the seller of the FC knew heritage would be offering an incomplete copy? nice and affordable way of completing a Marvel 5 Peter
  5. Book sold for $52k. Seems pretty low to me. Not sure why, but it could be because of the rusty staple and top corner piece missing? Also, the book to me is a weak 4.0.. I've seen better presenting lower graded copies. it was a weaker example of a 4.0. Not terrible but perhaps that played into the bidding. I know some folks really want that yellow cover to "pop". Often it is a mustard yellow instead of the more desired "canary" yellow.
  6. that would be right about FMV and the eye appeal is somewhat average on this copy so shouldn't have too much crazy bidding. I hope it goes above that (thumbs u

  9. Yours Ben? That's a beautiful recreation! isn't that a marvel variant cover ? yah it is. A fellow Boardee sent to me and I thought it was too cool to not post
  10. more impressive Heshkas . Ryan, is the wrap around done on canvas (as opposed to illustration board?)
  11. just posted on clink for $10.5k after selling for what, $8500?, a few weeks ago.
  12. that's what happens to rising books . All Select 1 went nuts in the 1990s.
  13. That's not even close to realistic. That's 6.5 money. more like 4.0 money now.
  14. The questions are: Do you know who named the Tom Reilly collection as “San Francisco” and what was the reasoning for naming the Tom Reilly collection as San Francisco? These questions are mainly directed towards Matt Nelson, but if anyone else has information please it for all of us to know! I read there were many people involved in the purchase of these books and that Robert Beerbohm was responsible for most of the initial sales of the collection. I just wanted to get an understanding of why a seemingly awesome collection could be named incorrectly. Thanks! Eric Redbeard "named" the collection accidentally. He was impressed when he saw the books and knew they were in the bay area, so he would ask "Do you have any books from that San Francisco collection?" Yeah, I think Beerbohm has objected to the "San Francisco" designation on the grounds that he was told that the Reilly family actually lived in Piedmont in the East Bay, rather than in San Francisco itself. Or so the story goes. After reading various threads about this collection, there seem to be many mysteries. Mike Munyak would be a good person to ask if I run into him
  15. Did anyone honestly think it would? -J. I am actually amazed at how high it did close. It was a beyond ugly copy and incomplete to boot. +1. It petered out at just under the highest I thought it might go for, though I am a bit surprised it even broke 8k with such poor eye appeal. Looking forward to that 4 on comic link now. Any thoughts on FMV on that one? -J. I would guess in the $35k to $40k but given how high prices have been, maybe I am low That would be a smoking deal at those prices, I know for a fact certain buyers going to bid in the 55K area. 14K a point, with better eye appeal is the current market, IMHO correct. $55k-$65k will be the range once the firing has ceased and the smoke clears
  16. These sales are decent price points but we also have to figure in the "timing" issue--who/when/what determines the FMV of that particular copy at that particular time. And this is even more true of the limited GA supply comparatively to the "dime a dozen" SA out there. I have sold enough GA that realized more than FMV at the time. Bat 1s are 200 strong total on the census and probably another 200+ raw copies out there. There's always a bat 1 on the open market but the right buyer, at the right time can realize more. Timing. That said, low grade Bat 1s are hitting $14k-$16k/point pending eye appeal, PQ, and timing
