  1. And the 35 is just different out of all the pre robin covers (yellow and green logo, window stance, hypo, best bat splash)
  2. I hear you DK. The most important 2 pages in comic book history every printed. Period. When you consider a 4.0-4.5 can be bought in the mid teens, where by 29, 31 and 35 all sell in the 30k+ (for 29 and 31) and mid to high 20k for the 35, 33 is really undervalued. A 36 4.5 has already broken 10k+. Origin of Batman makes it a key for me. It's the result of a cover driven hobby. 31 and 29 both have their attractive facts. I think the hot cover (31) and second bat cover and bit more rarity and early book (29) have always pushed the 33 behind, despite the origin and not too shabby cover. Gun holster and full wing span is great. I think the darkness of the dark knight is encapsulated on the 29 and 31 covers. Had the 33 been drawn wth a full moon and rolling fog at night, it would appeal to me more. Even the 27 has a so so cover in my opinion because it's a day time shot. He's the "dark" knight for a reason.
  3. Great book. Do you really want to slab it? I'd love to read and flcik through my book but its slabbed so I'm limited to the Batman Chronicles version. No need to slab it! Read and smell the pages!
  4. Congrats! Certainly, the best GA Bat splash
  5. nice Jeff I've always liked the 35 out of that bunch.

  7. well, $45k and you have your 31...$25k and you have your 3.5 back... I'm feeling you too Need to drink more.. You could look at the bright side and be thankful your not me!!!!! If I shoot myself at least you are well on your way at recovering them all Probably at the cost of my marriage. One left...need a 31
  8. Don't be silly, it's already up for sale in for sale thread!!! And to think, another board member was trying for it before it was snagged should sell it to them for what he paid I don't mind the humorous jabs -- I understand the point of view. Nevertheless, I'll do my best to explain. I purchased the book well under FMV after the original poster expressed some hesitation (thinking he may want to hold off for a higher graded copy) and after I discovered that no one had put the book on hold or made any commitment. Taking that into consideration, I had no hesitation so I made the move to purchase the book. I did not have any intentions of flipping it -- as a matter of fact, a few board members had PM'd be shortly after the purchase to see if I had any interest in selling and that if I ever decided to let the book go, to keep them in mind. My opinion has always been that anyone is welcome to make me an offer, but the intention here was to hold onto the book. I even contacted the board member who originally posted about the Tec #36 to apologize. I never intended to display poor board etiquette, I just went after a book that was available on the open market to anyone. If that reflects poorly on me, I'm more than willing to own up to it and take it on my shoulders. But if you ask anyone who has ever bought, sold or traded with me -- I'm confident that they will attest to my character, reliability and respect for the hobby as a whole. Another opportunity presented itself and I committed to purchasing another major book. In order to fund this purchase, I have no choice but to let the Tec #36 go. It's not that I want to sell it and it's not that my intention was to make a quick buck but rather -- I'll need every dollar to go towards my current purchase. It is because of that that I'm looking to sell the book around FMV. Detective Comics #37 in CGC 1.0 has sold for over $1,700 all the way back in 2010. Detective Comics #36 guides for more, sells for more and is tougher to come by in a CGC blue label. So again, the only reason it is available is to fund a future purchase -- such is life sometimes even though I'm sure we'd all like to hold onto all of the books we pick up. (thumbs u

  15. You're right. The cover sucks. Ahem. 29 is a cool cover. Full wing span and full moon/rolling fog/bats 31 still edges the 29 slightly (but the gap has shortened) in my book, but the 29 has the better story and is scarcer for sure (although more 29s have popped up the past 5 months)...not to mention, the 2nd Bat cover
  16. I'm not convinced that the Batman 1 sale at cc is 100% representative of FMV. I'm pretty sure it was just me and one other person duking it out. I went to 29.5 and then folded. If I hadn't been bidding, that book would have likely gone for a lot less. Two people hitting each other with OTT bids does not necessarily mean we have a market surge. I like the 29 as much as the 31, though it trades for a bit less at present. It only takes two to tango to bid up a books price Very true! But just because I'm a nut and he's a nut doesn't mean you're a nut, too. we collect smelly, old comics so we are all nuts!
  17. thanks Peewee! Yah, had a nice 4.5 blue 33 four years ago

  19. If tape was used to improve the grade, is it really unrestored? there in lies the issue...can tape really improve a grade CGC says yes.
  20. I've never been into his airbrush covers either, but I can certainly appreciate them.
