  1. Okay, I'll stop now. Sorry if I took up too much space. Thanks for indulging me.

    Don't worry, everyone loves Timelys. Why else would this thread get 10,000 hits in two weeks? wink.gif

    Stunning books, Mr. B! Keep 'em coming! 893applaud-thumb.gifthumbsup2.gif

    Thanks! Let's face it. Book in and book out, Timelys had the absolute best covers! They are perfect for a forum like this. I mean, while they are okay, who really wants to look at every issue of Action from 100 - 200? (I may be opening a big can of worms - but I doubt it!) But, other than maybe #79 just about every issue of Marvel Mystery is great!

    I hear ya. Let's compare Marvel Mystery 100 - 200 against Action 100 - 200! grin.gif

    Oh yeah, I forgot, there were only 92 of them... frown.gif Wonder why?? confused-smiley-013.gif

    Cause after 1949 Americans lost all sense of taste and culture!

    It's a shame the guy who amassed the Allentown Collection didn't take better care of them!

    I almost bought this book when Harley had it a decade ago. This book is KILLER and the scan does it no justice. NICE! 893applaud-thumb.gif

    West;

    Personally, I am glad you didn't pick this book up! thumbsup2.gif

    I ended up getting this book from Harley for a little less than 2X guide at a convention. Sold it a few years later in the big Manning auction and they was able to realize almost 7X for this book. 893whatthe.gif Strongly doubt that Richard had to pay this kind of money for the book as I believe he picked it up subsequent to the auction.

    Certainly can't complain about the money although I do believe it is the still the highest graded Fox book along with Mystery Men #13 which is also a NM+ 9.6 grade. I believe all other Fox books have graded out lower than this up to this point in time.

    The funny thing is that Harley also had the Allentown WW #14 at the same time. I almost took the 14 over the 13 since I thought the pages were a bit stronger. Probably should have picked up both books since Harley told me just to take the books and pay him later when I got back home. Turns out the WW #14 only graded out as a VF 8.0. Shows you what I know about grading, unless there was some damage done to the book in the interim. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

    I actually got it in a part cash/mostly trade deal at San Diego last year for about 4X.

  4. Science # 3

    This is still one of my favorite Fox covers.

    Allright, not only yours but some other boardies as well. You guys have to excuse me and enlighten me because I fail to see the attraction. It's an OK cover to me but what makes you tick about it? What about it, Rich? Ryan? Jon?

    Could it be the color scheme with that awesome rainbow effect in the background? Maybe those weirdly dynamic purple plant men? Or is it the composition with everything centered on Dynamo's hand and all the colors radiating outward? Is it the art deco look and design of the building and lamppost in the background or the woman in the foreground?

    Naw, it's just a freakin cool cover!
