  1. I know it's bad. But the question is just how bad is it? I'd love to get your opinions! I think I have good pics of all defects that I can see. Everyone that said 7.0 nailed it!
  2. I used Collectinsure in the past when I had a book that was pretty valuable (over $10k). It was pretty easy to get a policy. I never had to file a claim though so I can't speak on that.
  3. Plot twist! They moved. So moderns are getting done apparently.
  4. Mine haven't moved. But they probably wouldn't be moving this week anyway.
  5. Looks like there's another 9.8 1st print up for auction on Heritage. Another chance to see where to post pandemic price is at. Any guesses? https://comics.ha.com/itm/modern-age-1980-present-/alternative-underground/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-1-mirage-studios-1984-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7358-91045.s?ic4=GalleryView-ShortDescription-071515
  6. Update incase anybody wants to know. I've decided to just sell it directly to Mycomicshop. It's been up for sale for three weeks with not much action. Their offer is higher than any offer I got (while I was accepting offers). It looks like the market may have cooled off for lower grade copies. Or maybe it's just bad timing. I can't complain though. It's still good money!
  7. It seems like the market has cooled off for lower grades. I've had a CGC 6.5 listed for sale on mycomicshop for three weeks now. I've gradually lowered the price with almost no interest. I've decided to just sell it directly to Mycomicshop. I'd say hold if you don't really need the money right away.
  8. The housing market is just as crazy as the comic market. If I can sell my #1 it will only fund a portion of the down payment. But every little bit helps!
  9. It's up for sale on Mycomcishop! I decided to price it on the high end and wait for offers. Thanks for all the advice guys. I hate to let it go but the money will help get my family a house. https://www.mycomicshop.com/search?ItemID=54847558
  10. Thanks for all the replies. I reached out to Mycomicshop and I decided to use their service.
  11. I am honestly not fishing for offers so please don't PM me asking for a price, etc. I'm looking for some advice because I am paralyzed by the thought of selling a collectible at this dollar amount. If you were going to sell your #1 first print, where would you sell it? I have a CGC 6.5 I'm probably going to sell soon. I have been looking around and I definitely don't trust eBay with a transaction that large. Heritage seems like the process will take months. My main concern is fraud so waiting a few months isn't necessarily a deal breaker. I also thought about a local sale (meeting at a bank, etc). But I'm not sure how to get the word out to local buyers. Has anyone here sold one and how did you do it?
  12. Gotcha! Wasn't there a 6.0 that sold as well? I don't see that post any more. I'm trying to remember what it sold for.
  13. Nice! How do you look up past sales on mycomicshop? I'd like to see some of the sold prices.
  14. New high for a 9.8. https://www.comicconnect.com/item/929799?tzf=1#description
  15. I consider investing in comics & collectibles to be a part of a more diversified investing plan. I equate it to rich people investing in Art. I'm talking multi millionaires and billionaires. Surely they didn't get where they are by buying art. But it can be a good way to redirect some money that won't sit in a bank account or rely on a potentially volatile market. Having all your eggs in one basket is dangerous. Being able to "invest" in something like a TMNT 9.8 sounds like a tempting proposition to me. I just don't see it losing value. I just wouldn't dump all my money into it.
  16. I'm gonna buy some. Seems like fun. EDIT: Sold out before I could buy any. I was in the queue for 1.5 hours. There were over 12,000 people ahead of me.
  17. Who's to say? A year ago people were saying the $90k sale was BS and called it an outlier. Now 9.8s are being priced at $250k. There's only 33 total 9.8s. I wouldn't say it's probable. But I wouldn't call it impossible.
  18. Yeah if I had a 9.8 I’d sell it and buy a low grade just to still have one.
  19. Holy hell. Someone offered $220K and it didn't get accepted? That's wild!! Imagine where prices are going to end up after the all the people that want to cash out have sold. It seems like the surge is causing long time holders to sell for huge profits. So what happens next? Is there an aftermath period where the new buyers hold and the leftover longtime holders still don't sell? Or is it a continual surge. There has to be a leveling off at some point, right? I am absolutely fascinated by the TMNT comic market. What do you guys think?
  20. I don't have an entire room. But I do have this in my work from home office (I only turned the light on for the picture):
  21. No doubt! Kevin signs everything! I'd bet you're right. I seriously regret not getting to one of his signings back when he did them.
  22. Man, if Laird ever does a witnessed signing it would be huge! It would take forever to get all the books signed.
  23. I feel like the floor for a first print at any grade is close to $10,000 at this point. That's just based on my eBay and Facebook group observations, so I could be off.
  24. Duuuude! That is awesome! I wouldn't have thought to have the turtle sketch holding the pizza. Badass! I kind of want to track one of those down now.
