  1. Just picked up another random pile of art, with a few mysteries. I don't have pictures or scans of most, but I have this one. Sorry about the glare. I will get a better one when I scan them.
I believe it's a Robert Maguire preliminary. The collector I got it from had a number of them that were identified as such. In the smaller 3x5ish size as opposed to the large size he would do finished covers in.
No signature, and he's done a bazillion book covers, so I haven't found it. I thought it might ring a bell with somebody.

It's from 1938 - really for sci-fi.  Just a small four pager but I have bought a couple and thought they were interesting.  These are mimeoed too.

I need to see what copies of Star-Studded I have.  I have thought about trying to put together a set of those.

You're still bringing some GA too, right?

Yeah. I don't have nearly what I used to, but what I have will be there.

    Hey Roger

Did you get any Solor fanzines in that collection you bought?

I don't think so. I don't know that one. I got a bunch of the Texas Trio books, including the ones with early GRR Martin. Some old mimeo stuff also. Just picked up a tub (yes, a tub) of those off-the-wall brand x 70s horror magazines, so we'll be bringing the better ones of those.
Also, added a new stack of original art to the sales portfolio. Lots of fun and unusual stuff.

Cool, because that would be my first anything to be included in any best thing anywhere.

eGerber, just to keep it hilarious all the way around, has a $100 minimum order. I tried Bags Unlimited years ago, but had some quality control issues with them -- have they upped their game in the last, I dunno, 5 years?

I'm afraid I can echo Glen's experience with BU. My issue was that their larger (art sized) mylars had very fragile seals. Half my order would arrive conveniently pre-split for me, while the rest would eagerly split upon use. They were very nice about replacing them, but the replacements would have the same flaws. I have just ordered from Gerber for the first time and, delay notwithstanding, I'm hoping that they can bear up to the rigors of having a thin piece of bristol slid into them.

Hi Roger.  You might also check HA archives if you haven't done so already.  They often list some in their weekly auctions.  Sometimes they are put in groups.  I love this stuff.

There was a guy at OAFCON that dealt in fanzines and con programs.  He was on here for a little bit but I cannot remember his name.

Here is thread called Fanzine and Convention Program Appreciation Thread but it doesn't help you with values.

    Hey Jeff!

I remember that guy from 2011, but did not see him there when we were back in 2017. We will be at OAF this year (my favorite show, hands-down). I'm bringing a bunch of off-the-wall stuff -- fanzines, con programs, and, of course, comics and art. I'm really looking forward to it.

I can also add for the programs I couldn't find information on:

If I liked the program then it was more than others that didn't grab me. My reason is if I like it someone else probably will as well.

Here is a very small assortment from the hundreds of items that came in the collection that have been difficult to value.

1.The first is the very first San Diego Comic-con program booklet in a CGC 8.0 slab.

Yeah, there was one of these.

  7. Does anyone know if there is a resource for determining a value range on old convention program books? I just picked up a large batch of con programs and fanzines, and have been tearing the tiny, lonely hairs on the top of my head out trying to come up with values on some of them -- mostly older ones... late 60s through the 70s.
