  1. No help yet so I took the bait. Didn't look for the defects. Can they be pressed out? Break color or not. But the price increase isnt worth pressing and slabbing is it? If you want a 9.8 for yourself sell the 9.6 and $30 more you can buy a 9.8
  2. A decision like that is above my pay grade. Good luck.
  3. Spine is thicker. Need to alternate books every so many.
  4. So many things come into play with rarer books or high grade non keys. Page quality. Wrap. Are the top bidders buying cgc grade or the book. Speculators or collectors. I don't know much about the albedo 2 in high grades. I just know 2 years ago it was 8 grand and now its 20 to 30 apparently. Up in all grades. Why the jump now. What do the other 9.8s look like. I just keep seeing this same copy. Some of these books you dont see often. Stock market is good. Big auction. So no need to think comic market is bad. Books went what buyers felt they were worth.
  5. Yes. It's a known thing. Some books are known to have same or similar production flaws. They don't hurt the grade much or at all as far as cgc is concerned. I would say yours is production but I don't know how common it is for that book. So it could be a 9.6 or 9.8 whatever it normally would be. And people will buy it for full pop. Just will greatly limit the number of willing buyers.
  6. If a crease breaks enough color it will always be detectable. Paper fibers have been damaged. Press won't restore missing color. Grade depends on if it's a product crease or not. Production it could still be nm. Someone will buy the grade. If not production then high mid grade. 6.5 prob 7.0 maybe.
  7. I dunno. Those reds definitely are a lot brighter in the original sellers pictures Haha. Same book but I'd rather have the one pictured in the slab. Guys a piece of but not a total piece of . At least returning book. Feel bad for next guy looking for xmen 1.
  8. Every defect is exactly the same. If you aren't 100% sure I hope seeing all the same replies on here you will be 99.9999999 % sure. I like the positive thinking but its the same book.
  9. All depends. Gambit might double. Goblin probably not. Everyone knows it's coming one day. Already got a boost in 2000 2001. Gambit got a boost years ago in wolverine and again with the Channing Tatum movie. But will go up again with another rumor or announcement. All the sudden people will want it. Miles went up 3x 4x for cartoon movie. When they pull someone out of nowhere it goes up crazy times.
  10. I am just playing around. Sucks to be injured. But he didn't say he was bed ridden or couldn't walk. Couldn't walk much. Don't have friends or family to drive you over there and get your books. Maybe he doesn't worry about $. Maybe full of it. Added some extra 0s. 1 - 2 books instead of 100 -200. I am not going to give him a pity party and lil sad emoji because he can't get to his books. I got family and friends missing limbs or in a chair and they would find a way to get to 10 grand.
  11. Calm down there overly sensitive internet tough guy. I don't want you using your 100 - 200 forms of self defense on me. Now after your accident if you could still kick my behind then I think you can manage some way of getting out your $10,000 worth of spiderman fcbd books.
  12. I am surprised they have done this well before covid. Sure movies set all time records as far as gross but tickets cost a lot more. Way more people used to go to the movies. They really need the Asian market. Need theaters full too. Impressive how many people go to movies still. People want to see something soon as it comes out and dont want to pirate. They are already paying for Netflix HBO etc so I would rather just wait 4 to 6 months and see it for free with just as good sound, better picture, more comfortable chair, and cheaper food drink. People gotta see it right away though so if they dont go out of business po people will go back to theaters once safe to do so. A lot of people aren't going to want to wear a mask for 2 hours.
  13. Stopped in to see the latest hot book but just more people reporting on jackpot. I seen a couple Howard the duck 1 go for a bit more than the usual. Nothing too exciting. Seems anything that has been specced on in the last few years is selling well. Without new books, cons and stores closed, and extra $ people gotta spend it on something.
  14. Wish more studies would do this. Dont need to see Stallone play same characters he was 40 years ago. Fast furious 17. Remakes of old tv shows movies. But a lot of the time new characters concepts fail unless its Disney. Either way if movie does get made I can see the puns already. Sony hits the "jackpot" at the box office. Or failed to.
  15. Yeah if I had 200 issues I am cutting my foot off and putting a wooden peg on. Very least would be willing to hobble around on crutches while someone loads them up. I would like to make 10 grand but my little foot hurts. This memorial day weekend I am thankful we didn't have to depend on this guy to take the beaches of Normandy or cross the Delaware river in the frigid cold.
  16. Whoever. I am all for full disclosure but if something was done so well that it can't be detected then I don't see how it matters. Nothing can be done about it. Restored is too expensive, more people need to hate it. Prices seem to keep climbing up on it. Percentage off is getting smaller.
  17. If it's done right and you dont tell them how are they going to know? You are bringing book back to its unaltered state. Quality control issues happen at cgc all the time. This is most likely the problem. Least it is noted. Majority of people I know dont want restored books. The ones that do are fine with color touch but draw the line with trimmed. I am fine with both if the color touch is good and as long as they didn't trim the book into a mini comic.
  18. Either a mistake or not having cons hurt their business so bad that this is their stimulus plan to get people to reslab some books.
  19. Look at what his work sells for. If that is in your price range contact him or his people. May cost more or less depending on how extensive it is. I only get work done at a con if it is a lot cheaper to do so. Usually throw a guy who isn't busy a bone. If paying full pop I want the artist working at home when they are in the mood to draw with the setup they are comfortable with. Not in a distracting environment where the goal is to do as many pieces as fast as they can. If you are at the con multiple days they may work on it in hotel room, still I want them working on it on their home turf.
  20. If you are going with such heavy hitters I would leave us weak puny humans out. What's the joker going to do with thanos? Maybe lex can make a plastic gun or sword and joker can kill magneto. Seems like a waste of 2 roster spots for me. A writer can make them build or find something powerful so they can contribute but what's the point. Like the suicide squad movie. Lil tiny harley with her bat took out those things so easy they didn't need the others. Could have just been a harley quinn movie.
  21. I think that is good advice. I like full runs for collecting. And sometimes something pops that I never thought would be good spec and at least have a couple issues of it. After it fades off pick it back up cheap to make the run complete again.
  22. Anybody can make $ with a hobby. Wives don't mind the huge spending when they see the rewards from it. Just have to learn. I was watching youtube videos the other night. What people were buying and recommending was scary. If you want to be a collector that is fine. But if you want to be a seller the asm 300 nm 98 aren't going anywhere. Even as a collector the grade to get is a 9.6 that is the sweet spot for both those books. Asm 300 8.5 is what $400 some. Can get 9.6 for $600 So I would upgrade for $200 if I was collector. Investor I don't want the book. You said he should of bought the hulk 181 for $3,600 it's now $4,000 but even if it they sold at $4,300 they most likely lost $ unless they found a cash buyer. When they bought they may have paid taxes, customs, shipping. When they sold 10 to 13 percent selling fees, shipping, maybe insurance. Broke even or lost $. If they took $3,600 and bought miles they made $10,000 profit if they sold at $100 a copy, if they waited until now they would of made $15,000 You can enjoy knowing that you have the first wolverine or spiderman or you can make 6 figures a year selling comic books. Nothing wrong with either. Can do a mix a both. I don't have a silver or bronze key but had plenty of miles. If I somehow found a hulk 181 at a flea market tomorrow it would be up for sale later that night. I love wolverine but fine with my reprint.
  23. Good stuff here. I have my own guidelines for my personal collection, but if you are selling to others you should use cgc or overstreet. People aren't going to or want to hear about your stores guidelines. Overstreet used to be a lot stricter, at some point they adapted to cgc it seems. Cgc might not publish their standards but if you have owned a few hundred or thousand slabs you know what they are if you pay any attention to the books inside the slab. Really though if they 1. Take good photos and disclose hard to see defects or 2. I can return the book if the grade isn't what they claim. It doesn't matter what grade they call it.
  24. What's that? These things where you dress up in a costume and pay $ to get c and d list celebrities autographs. Yeah they over grade big time. Just shows how many comic buyers are clueless or they wouldn't sell many raw books.
