Just wanted to say I saw this last night and if you're on the fence on watching it please go. If you didn't see the last 2 you don't need to watch them to understand the story. Overall I enjoyed the movie I'd give it a 7/10. Great soundtrack and good story.

Would like to hear the reasoning why behind this? I believe someone in another thread pointed out how Marvel movies and shows seems to have less civilian characters but more and more heroes, one of the big reasons I think they're declining in quality. I wonder if they're just not going to be in the show or they're recasting them. Kind of hard to have a 18 episode DD without Foggy.

I'm enjoying the show, probably because I've been a devotee of the games, with my grown up kids for 10 years now. There are few surprises in the TV show for me, as I know what's coming all the way. I enjoy the various twists and deviation from the source material, and that keeps it fresh for me.
The acting is first rate, particularly Bella.
The mall episode was decent, but not great. It is based on DLC which can actually be played in sequence with the main game.
Last night's episode I enjoyed more, the pedophile David episode, that was pretty faithful to the game but felt a tad rushed to me.
I can see how people who have zero knowledge of the games might struggle to commit to the TV show, and that it might come across as a tad shallow and unsatisfying.
All I can say is that the games are incredible, very satisfying to play, extremely violent, and very, very emotional and heartwarming.
For those who don't know...David's assistant, James was played on screen by the incredible Troy Baker, who plays Joel in the games.
Expect to see Ashley Johnson, who plays 'Game Ellie' next week.
That was my one big problem with the episode. Joel goes from not moving for days to taking out at least 3 people within a span of a couple of hours. Ellie's situation felt rushed through. This episode was still a lot better than the last one (mall) which unfortunately helped me fall asleep.

Ah, the traditional Twitter-Hype reactions.
They raved about Ant-Man too, right?
Yep it's hard to trust any "review" of these movies until they come out. I'm still cautiously optimistic about this film though, I really enjoyed the first one.

Although I enjoy the 1995 film much more, I rewatched the 2021 film last night and I have to say there is so much to appreciate in this film. Especially the groundwork it lays for the sequel. I really hope they honor the spirit of the Johnny Cage character like the first film did.
The fight with Goro and Johnny Cage is by far my favorite part of the first film. I lose it every time after he hits Gorros in the nuts and complains about his hand hurting while climbing.

You can't disrespect the Not Another Teen Movie star like this.
I love that movie. I was in high school when it came out and we quoted it way too much. -

I just bought tickets for opening weekend and all seats were available.
That hurts me. Well hopefully it's good because I can't see Shazam being put into the rebooted DC for at least 5-10 years.

I think this is more of the same Loki death schema. Deaths to grab the emotional purse strings. I think so.
The big difference between this and Infinity War is no one will really care about the character deaths in this. You've introduced multiverse so they could always come back and I'm sure no one is really going to be that sad for Falccap....

Why did they make this movie?
I honestly wondered this same thing when it was announced. They were smart last time to place the movie right before Endgame after they teased she would have a big part in it. There's no hiding her now.....

Well this might really suck. I don't think a lot of people will watch Shazam as I see it being ignored by a lot of people who aren't even giving it a chance. I'm hoping I'm wrong.

Spoilers....
I saw this yesterday and thought it was ok. I've really enjoyed the Ant Man movies especially the daddy daughter connection and in this one the daughter was pretty horrible to Scott. Early on I was really put off Casey and was confused if we were supposed to actually like her (constantly belittled him, accused him of things, acted like he was dumb, etc.). Majors did awesome as Kang and in my opinion the strongest part of the movie. I would've really enjoyed having Scott's side characters back and thought the movie was hurt by not having them especially Luis. Overall I'll give it a 5/10.

Best animated Spidey we've had. It's a shame it ended when it did they had enough for at least 3 seasons.

I felt like episode 5 was the strongest one yet.

And this is where I think Gunn is making a mistake. Instead of trying to tie the existing movies, he's decided to start all over again. I really don't think it's going to work. I just think it's a bad path with the properties he's bring on.
As someone noted in the Black Panther thread. Focus on your A list properties. He's not.
We should have 2 Batman family movies. It's crazy we haven't had a proper Robin origin film and a Under the Red Hood film yet.

Any chance if this does good, this gets connected to the new DC universe?

Interested in this but man it sucks we won't get a young Grayson (his first name got flagged on here) and his transition to Nightwing (so many great stories about that). I also have a good idea that they're going to shaft Tim and he won't be in the movie or mentioned.

Took my nephews to see this a couple of weeks ago, I enjoyed it a lot. If anyone is reading this is on the fence of going to watch it you should.

I'm a big Birds of Prey comic book fan (loved the Chuck Dixon run). So when I saw the Birds of Prey Harley Quinn horrible movie, I forced myself to finish it and I have regretted it since. This is the worst movie in the past 20 years that I can recall especially when I compare it to the source material.

It seemed like a movie that was thrown together without much thought. Basically, the first one was a success, here is some money, give us a sequel in 12 months.
This is exactly how I would put it. I was pretty disappointed in it.

Since the plan and details is not going to make its way out until next week on DC Studios, so much coming out is rumors and click pieces.
But on the story where Jenkins refused the rewrite the --script she had been working on - including sending a definition of 'character arc' to one of the co-CEOs - seems to the be the latest story floating around.
I'm hoping this was cancelled as long as Patty Jenkins is attached. WW 1984 was HORRIBLE.

My only complaint is release it sooner before Ezra does anything else crazy...

I think that The Flash TV show sucks, and there's no way in Hel you could convince me to ignore the show and pretend that he's a different Flash for the DCEU. You also can't convince me that the show would be good backstory for DCEU's Flash. If Miller is going to be recast, it cannot be Gustin.
It annoys me that they just didn't replace Barry with Wally. That is the simplest way to recast the Flash.

Are there actually any hard facts about the FF movie?
All I see are different actors, directors, writers and time-era's.
If they want to avoid another disaster, then cast the actors, choose a writer and director, nail the premise of the movie, then film it.
Just seems like they are throwing stuff out there and waiting for feedback.
Personally - I'd like a non Dr Doom movie.
Surely with Namour appearing in BP 2 then it would be sensible to crossover to the FF movie and add Kang to tie in the new Avengers castings and set up the Kang + Namour V Avengers + FF double movie finish like they did with Thanos.
It worked, so stick to tried and trusted IMHO (without the damn comedy - keep that within the Thor movies please!)
I actually never thought about a non Dr. Doom movie but it could work and they just introduce him at the end.

It's still hard for me to believe we're getting a Madame Web movie before a Nightwing movie. It was bad enough getting a Harley Quinn movie before him.
