  1. Great points. Wonder Woman too. There's links where people have created reading order guides.... I think I just read heros that weren't really that popular so didn't create a bunch of comics....
  2. I hear and I don't disagree with that. What I'm referring to is the number of books and storylines for a character of their own.... I feel like they start all these stories and comics to have low issue numbers thus giving people the belief they are more "collectible" than issue 1500 of a comic.... "Hey I got the new Spiderman #4...." "I thought Amazing Spiderman was on issue XXX?...." "It is, this is Spiderman is Technically Amazing.... in this one Spiderman loses his powers and has to use mechanical devices like the Batman.... Mary Jane flies now...." "Oh, so the old Amazing Spiderman comic is gone?...." "No dude.... This is just a different storyline...."
  3. No, not ripped at all. Just bent. There are a few of the holes you see on the bottom of the page of some comics from the era.
  4. Most of this books looks pretty tight.... especially for a dark cover.... rust free staples.... my issue is the center fold. The bottom was bent in when I received it. I carefully pulled it out, but it is creased and I'm not sure pressing would help this.
  5. Now it's how many different books/stories of a hero can we make.... It's fascinating, but so confusing....
  6. I think their stance is this is not worthy of them fixing for free as there's no guarantee the new slab will not have the same or worse issues. I use got back some comics I had graded. The first group I got back weeks ago look good, but had a few small rings. The comics I got back this week look great. I have not been able to find rings anywhere and I've tilted and looked at them every way imaginable.
  7. Wow. These are great. Not an artist I expected to see doing covers. Amazing.
  8. Yes, I don't think it's a fatal flaw. I need to look at it closer with a glass to tell for sure.
  9. Rules I try to follow.... Determine what I'm willing to pay and feel good about the purchase.... No buyer's remorse. Don't worry about whether they got a deal, how much they're making, think I'm a chump etc.... It's hard, but I try to lose the emotion and all the noise about intangibles.... that don't relate directly to the item in question. Be willing to walk away. Some people start at a low and leave room to go up to their max price, others give their best offer. I've done both with varying degrees of success.
  10. I'd leave positive, but note the packing was not great. At worst, I would leave neutral. You got the book as ordered. They just need to improve their packing.
  11. Mine took about a week. It was over Memorial Day so don't know if that impacted things good or bad.
  12. I sent them 6 comics that they acknowledge receiving on 6/2. They where broken in two groups, modern and value. I'm getting the last batch back today.
  13. Good to know. The original intent was to frame, not really slab, but I do appreciate the input as to grade.
  14. Thanks. It's glossy and has no texture so I think it is. I'll probably need to look at it with a magnifying glass. I don't really want to scratch or rub it....
  15. I really love Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman so I had to get this variant. The goal was to create a custom frame for it, not really slab it.... but I am curious as to how a dot like this would impact and otherwise perfect book. My eyes are not what they used to be but it almost appears to be a white spot, not a chip or scrape.
  16. Thanks. Yes, it's one I just stuck back on my wall.... Not sure it's worth the trouble....
  17. So it seems that the holes at the bottom and the ink were part of production back then....
  18. Thanks. Yes I was thinking somewhere around there. Pretty disappointing. I should have paid better attention when I bought it all those years ago....
  19. No idea, but it's a great looking comic and looks to be in great shape for it's age.
  20. I was looking at potential comics to sell and I've never had any passion around this comic.... Don't think I even read the whole thing when I bought it new from the comic book shop.... At any rate, was thinking of selling it but, after looking at it.... it's a bit of a hot mess.... - The cover at the top is bent, probably from years of sitting in a box because a poor kid (me) didn't have the money for bags and boards.... - Blue ink marks.... About 90% of the book has these blue ink marks at the top. No idea what that is from. - About 50% of the book has these holes running across the bottom. They almost look like claw marks. I'd be curious to know folks opinions as to a grade. I moved this to a frame and have it on the wall in my office. Not sure what to do with it now. I may just stick it back in the frame..... At least it presents well as wall art....
  21. I'm taking this grading thing with a little more subjective attitude.... but I can see where in situations where the value difference between say a 9.8 and 9.4 is significant.... I can see where people get a little unnerved..... My Luke Cage #1 doesn't have near the issues this comic has, but came back as a 2.5. No biggie, it was one my early "I'm a collector" buys as a kid.... I doubt I paid more than .50 -1.00 for it....
  22. That is good to know.... I had someone at the post office recommend using it and the items she sold me the postage for definitely had advertising.... I've received items with that postage as well.
