From OSPG notes, apparently this is the very first War comic. Not sure if this is correct, but hey at almost $50 for it I think it was worth it....now let's hope GD- doesn't mean a destroyed back cover.

 

They probably hammered it grade-wise because of the brittle pages.

Well, my winning bid was only $35, the total with everything $44. So even with the brittle pages I think I made out like a bandit. Is there any type of restoration that can fix brittle pages?

Whooo, I won my first Heritage auction. Bid on a bunch of books early on, with low bids not expecting to win any. but I won this War Comics #1 for a cheap price. I think it may be undergraded judging from scan. If anyone can post the picture here that would be great, I'm at work and can't do it right now.

I have to be honest, I don't find either of those covers very appealing (and no, it's not because there's are no troopers on it) just find the art on both those books very mediocre. For $10k I could find a more appealing book.

Looks like that japanese fella being thrown is farting little paratroopers.

BZ, please ignore the goofy looking guy at left but keep in mind I, er, he is 6 ft. 5 in.

This is a HUGE Jeff Jones Tarzan painting done as a commission after he did a calendar of Tarzan images in the late '90s. I got it indirectly through Heritage a few years back. Before getting it I thought comics were the be all and end all. But now I get to wake up every day and stare at this! So there you go....some All-Story please!

Giant Kudos to Filter81 for one of the best paratrooper books now in my collection. His patience for payment is legendary.

Note to self: Drink beer, spit tobacco....as the night wears on it gets harder and harder to remember that.

I almost took a drink of my dip spit cup instead of my beer. Whew, close call.

BZ just let me know when your tired of hearing "wow" because that's all I can think of everytime you post a new batch of books. Your collection has to rank as one of the best in the world, absolutely fantastic. The fact that you were able to acquire so many of these back in the 60's makes it that much more impressive. We are not worthy.
