  1. Jesus H' Christ, you people almost make me disgusted to be a comic collector. Most of your questions are for the prospector not the collector. Can you not enjoy the pictures presented before you without asking "how much is this" "this guy is hyping his books" "there must be an agenda". Look at the freaking books for gods sake. When/If he makes additional statements as to whether the books are for sale, then make your comments as to his agenda/intentions. You are ruining threads like these for all of us by making your assumptions by multiple posts and ruining the original intent of this thread. Hell, I'm even writing this inebriated (sp?). so cut it out people. I like pretty covers, keep em runnin'

  2. Here are scans of a few more All-American Comics.

Beginning with number 21, I noticed a vertical line appearing left of center in all the scanned covers. The line isn't actually on the comics so I assume the scanner needs a repair of some sort?

    Hmmmm.....nice book....

  3. Hi all, for those interested in the FF 15 CGC 8.5 White listed on eBay, take note that this one was a great looking 7.5 that was pressed into an 8.5. Here's the before and after scans :

I have nothing against pressing, but I prefer proper disclosing...

Wow, I've got some ironing to do.

And paying board members for books, and selling books you placed For Sale.....and getting banned from the forum, and getting a job, and......everyone chime in....

  4. Damn, I have competition now foreheadslap.gif

j/k, just glad to see someone else enjoying these books. Do yourself a favor and pick up these two books next

    Star Spangled War Stories #45

    GI Combat #44

Both are trooper covers and both are washtones, beautiful!

Oh and kudos to Buck Biggins, I swear that Weird War #10 you sent me is in better condition than you described, pleasently surprised!

Don't think of me as your competition, think of me as your assistant. You don't seem to root around eBay like I do, and I have helped you add several books to your list, as well as helped you add several books to your collection. I'm here to help! Besides, I owe you for the awesome list!!!

So you did check out the list I sent you. Took me a long time to make that, and it keeps on getting updated. Do you use it?

And I forgot to give you kudos for pointing out a bunch of trooper books for me, thanks! thumbsup2.gif

gossip.gif Shep has a SSWS #45 he might be willing to sell you.....

  6. post counts are pretty useless. if you can't figure out if someone is worth being friendly to or not after about six posts, then you shouldn't be on a message board. some people come around after bad first impressions, but they are few and far between.

only a total loser would be impressed at someone else's post count. and that goes double for someone impressed by their own post count

  7. 1st question: Haven't really counted how many...every day find something new, like the one above (which greggy is giving me a copy free). I have a spreadsheet that tracks them, maybe I'll count later.

2nd question: Why I collect them, I've collected comics since I was 6 (I'm 29 now) and my collection grew too large. Had to focus my collecting habits. My last tour in the military was in the 82nd Airborne Division....thought it'd be nostalgic to collect trooper books.

My very first book was actually a Fantastic Four #295, I still have that. But since everyone and their mother are collecting Marvel FF/Spidey/Hulk etc. I thought I'd try something different. Plus I can directly relate to the Paratrooper/War books that I am buying. The stories are sometimes telling stories of the times in which they were printed. Not only that, I don't think these GA/SA war books get the attention that they deserve. Everyone is collecting the superhero books, but pay no attention to these obscure non-key books. I've been drinking too much beer again, I'll answer these questions in my thread when I'm more clear headed.

  8. I found this one...but there is a 9.8 out there somewhere:

Dunno who has the other. When I won this book from Bobcat back in the day, I didn't expect him to list another one a few months later. The other guy paid $100 less. I recall my copy being slightly better centered though. 893scratchchin-thumb.gif

dagnabit, is that a paratrooper on that cover? argh, another book to add to my list...

  9. Methinks Dave and Steve need to get together with a pair of boxing gloves and duke it out.....that's how I resolved any issues I had with my sister, man she's fiesty.

p.s. since we got all the major dealers on here, anyone feeling the Christmas spirit and want to send me some trooper books? (hint: trying to hint to you guys it's the holidays and the bickering should cease...at least for awhile)
