  1. I am sitting around 15k to 20k with a mixture of gold, silver, bronze, copper and a small amount of modern. I would LOVE to cut it to about 3000...

I'll help you cut the gold.... :hi:

Mr. Point Five, how many in your collection? :/

I hope we have an understanding that that's not an acceptable topic for Friday's dinner conversation.... (tsk)lol

Actually, I'm quite curious myself. My guess is around 1300?, but some rainy day (or snowy day) I think I'll do an inventory.

  2. Nice book, especially considering what a pain it is to find a copy with decent centering.

BTW, I thought you sold your run? Are you rebuilding?

This is one of two books that still hasn't sold, both Annuals. BTW, sold the Silver, kept the Bronze - don't plan to part with the books I bought off the rack.

Do you have an Ann 1 for sale?

  3. I'm about 70-75% finished with my goal.

    No you're not. lol

It'll never end. You'll eventually finish the core run, then you'll set your sights on an AF 15. Once you get that, you'd think it would be over with, but you're DEAD WRONG. You're either going to start hoarding, or you're going to start upgrading. You're probably thinking "oh no, not me.. that won't happen.. I just want a complete run", but just WAIT. You may take breaks and get into different titles for a little while, but ASM will always lure you back. It's a disease, and once it's in your bloodstream, it's for LIFE.

I should say congrats, though. Assembling an ASM run is not that easy in any grade, at least not for us non-BSD's. It has got to be the priciest run of books post-1962 and there's always competition at every grade level. I've been collecting ASM's since 2000(though I've only picked up a couple of pieces in the last 2 years) and the demand for these books always blows my mind. It's nearly impossible to get a bargain, whether it's VG, VF, or NM.

doh! I wish I'd known all this before I started. Anyone got any of the following for sale in VGish 2-4, 7?

  4. I was speaking a little tongue in cheek as Steve has some incredible books, and varying tastes. Plus he isn't afraid to flip for a profit or a loss. :acclaim:

Spidey #1 is a blue chip of comics. If it goes up or down so does the market as a whole and vice versa. :acclaim:

I'd rather own a spidey 1 than any other SA key besides FF1 and AF15. :acclaim:

but wouldn't you rather have a TEC 29?

  5. So Steve, you've gone from Platinum to Golden Age and now that you sold your Batman 29 and a few others, you're out buying common books like Spidey #1.

    Shame shame.

If you're into flipping, a HG ASM 1 is probably a pretty good investment. Personally, I expect to have my LG copy for many years unless something radical happens to my income stream.

Ed, what's the long range outlook on ASMs in general?

  6. THats pretty high its 2nd spidey and the chameleon sucks. Restored Silver Age  Not even complete. I bet who ever buys it is going to crack it out and mylar it and if he plans to sell it put it on Ebay starting bid: 500? and don't disclose resto, centerfold missing etc.

I should be happy I got my pos copy cheap.

I hate the vulture, but I'm not sure I can handle a book in Good. (shrug)

  7. ....me too, but I expect 1-20 to be a bit expensive!

Blue808 & the collectron - they're comics to be proud of! Excuse me while I turn green..!

They will cost you a bit more even if you're shooting for low grades like I do. That said, the hunt and payoff on these is SO much more rewarding. I love filling holes in my run, but when I've been able to nail down an ASM from the first 20 issues.... AH! :cloud9:

I'm going to keep my eyes out for a nice looking 7 (Vulture yuck) when I visit Metropolis next month. I will then only need 2-5, assuming the 8 & 9 ever make it through Canada Customs. ;)
