  1. Too bad those boots are wasted on a doormat like Trina.
  2. I just came across this French version of GXS 1, and it fixed the double Cyclops issue and also added Wolverine. Unfortunately, Wolverine is with the old X-Men. 😟
  3. Why not? Chris Evans got to play both the Human Torch and Captain America. Edit: Credit to Valiantman who beat me by a few seconds.

It looks too fragile to press. I wouldn't risk it.
  5. Yes, here's the link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-Adventures-1-CGC-9-8-NM-M-1988-Newsstand/203264686054
  6. I like how the artist fixed the crack in the Liberty Bell.
  7. The circumflex over the e in "morcêgo" is also an indicator of the comic's age. Orthographic reforms to Portuguese have removed a lot of the diacritical marks over the years. Also, Batman is just called "Batman" nowadays in Brazil, so I guess that whole "Morcêgo Negro" thing didn't last. I love Batman's red boots!
  8. I wonder if that cover was the inspiration for this Mark Ryden painting.
  9. This is something I've never understood with regard to comic book preservation. Since comics (especially the older ones) are not printed on acid-free paper, how does putting them in mylar bags protect them? The acid is already there. And yet there are SA and even GA comics with white pages and in 9.0+ condition. What keeps the acidic paper from becoming yellow and brittle? (I've often thought it might be an interesting idea to bag comics with a pinch of baking soda to increase the pH, but I'd be afraid to experiment with my comics.)
  10. Yes, the 9.6 label almost looks purple. Ah, that explains it.
  11. The colors do look a bit more vibrant in the 9.6. That could be from the cleaning. Or maybe it was just two different cameras.
  12. Why do they both have a capital R pencilled into the cover? The two R's are nearly identical in form and placement.
  13. I thought that the point he was trying to make was that a person living forty years ago (1980) and instantly transported to the future would have a hard time figuring out current technology. But he made a minor mistake and typed "born" rather than "living," resulting in hilarity. Did I miss something beyond that?
  14. A person born forty years ago would be a forty-year-old person today.
  15. I always look at that photo in wonder, knowing my copy is in one of those boxes. I ordered it from a wholesale distributor for less than the cover price. I guess it came directly out of one of those boxes and then was sent to the distributor who sent it to me with all the other comics I had ordered for that month.
  16. The 9.0 and 9.4 are definitely the ones to watch. I'm not that familiar with Heritage Auctions. Do people often wait until the last few minutes of an auction on a popular item to get into vicious bidding wars that drive the price way up, like on eBay? Or are the prices on the day before pretty close to the final bid?
  17. Interesting. I didn't know about the cut flying scenes. As a child, the flying scenes that most impressed me were from the live action Saturday morning episodes of Shazam. Unlike Superman, when Shazam got to where he was going (by flying), he always dropped his legs and pointed his feet at the ground. Superman was always shown to dive toward the ground, but somehow he always landed on his feet. That never made any sense to me.
  18. I had my parents buy that for me when it came out. I completely devoured it in anticipation of the movie. One interesting bit of trivia is that the magazine shows a still from the movie of the little girl on the train who sees teenage Clark run by at super speed. The caption to the picture identifies the little girl as a young Lois Lane. Many years later, I learned that that scene had originally intended for that to be Lois, but that piece of info was later cut from the movie. I was so confused as a child as to why the magazine was making that claim.
  19. Well, judging by that name, there's no way his art is horribly bland.
  20. Well, maybe, but death is pretty definitive. I mean, I guess the judges could claim that Richie's death doesn't count due to a technicality, but he's still dead.
