I know they have a formula for automatically calculating values based on available data. If they have no data for a particular grade, they extrapolate from sales in other grades. afaik they don't use Rally Road.

Please do. I'd love to check out that YouTube channel. I looked up awakeintheashes' suggestion that it was the Marvel HQ channel and found this playlist. But it only has 12 videos, and they are only of very recent comics.

GoCollect lists a 7.0 as selling for $7000. So that's more than twice as much. I wonder if all their TMNT listings are off by that much. Hmmm. If a 9.6 is listed on GoCollect for $26,000, does that mean a copy would actually sell for over $50,000? It's nice to think it would.

And also, if you do get prosecuted, being able to point to multiple legal infractions gives the prosecution an exponentially greater chance of winning a guilty verdict.

I bet a lot of people noticed the anachronistic comics. That comic rack was in a prominent location in the shots, and there were multiple visits to the pharmacy. The brightly-colored comics really catch the eye. And with the popularity of superhero movies, most people nowadays have at least a passing familiarity with some of the characters. Also, that rack was way overstuffed for a small neighborhood pharmacy.

Yep, the seller took down the auction. We still don't know the going rate for a 9.6, but at least now we know for sure that it's less than 65k. The interesting thing is that the price was bid up to that price in the first few days of the auction, and then it froze there for more than two weeks. I expected some last-minute sniping, but there was none. The last bid was placed on the 13th.

I'd always assumed that "over five figures" means "at least six figures," since $99,999 still contains only five figures. But with two people telling me different, I may very well be wrong. No worries, though.

Since most of this seems to be tongue-in-cheek, I think I'm probably just missing a joke. My main concern was just making sure that a TMNT #1 hadn't sold for $100,000, as that would have blown my mind.

Okay, but if cents are being counted, then $10,000.01 would be seven figures. And gas prices, such as $259.379 per gallon, would be six figures!
