  1. Bulk received 01/11 is scheduled for grading today. CGC really are pumping these older submissions out right now.
  2. I think this policy needs immediate reconsideration. Nonsubgraded CGC slabs should be treated just like a PSA/BGS/etc crossover and graded as a brand new card. I don't see why or even how this card with binder ding should be grandfathered in to a 8.5 w/ subs just because a defect was unfortunately missed during initial grading. Customers pay a significant premium for subgrades, and they wait longer to receive their cards back, because of the confidence that their card was closely examined through CGC's expert and impartial authentication. Would this card receive an overall 8.5 if subgrades were initially purchased? I think that answer is exactly why this policy needs immediate reconsideration.
  3. @PaulS. If that is the policy, will CGC eventually offer the ability on the submission form to add subgrades to a card if it meets a certain grade? i.e. if the card grades at least a 9 or above, opt in for subgrades, if it does not grade a 9, no subs. If this is too much to manage at the individual card level, allowing Customers to apply it to an entire order would work as well.
  4. This is my personal opinion and should not be treated as fact unless confirmed by CGC. Let me know if anyone can find an example to refute this. Your overall grade can be 1 point higher than your lowest subgrade, but this is only applicable until an overall grade of 8. Once you get to 8.5 and above, your lowest subgrade can be a maximum of .5 lower than your overall grade. Meaning, an overall 8.5 will never have a 7.5 subgrade. An overall 9 will never have an 8 subgrade, etc. In your example, the reason why your MTG card got an 8 was your surface 7.5 grade which capped it at an 8. Many of my 8's would be 8.5's if not for a 7.5 subgrade. Your Dark Charizard got an overall 7.5 which was 1 point higher than the lowest subgrade of 6.5, which is allowable. Below is a perfect example illustrating the rule. Vileplume beats Groudon ex in 3 out of 4 subgrades, and has a higher subgrade total (35 vs 34) and a higher subgrade average (8.75 vs 8.5). But just like your MTG example, the 7.5 capped it at an 8 while Groudon ex got the 8.5. Some have said Surface is weighed more in the overall grade calculation, but here's another example with the same subgrade breakdown as Vileplume, except Corners got a 7.5 instead of Surface. Capped at an 8 as well. Rule still holds. Again, this is my opinion as a collector that happened to pick up on a pattern. If I'm right, this is a genius play on CGC's part to really distinguish each card's overall quality once you get to that 'Mint' category (8.5, 9, 9.5, 10 pristine, 10 perfect). Having a .5 allowable deviation on ANY subgrade is tough, and it's why it's so hard to get higher CGC grades!! Long term I think 8.5's and above will be seen as highly collectible for the reasons above. But only those of us that paid the price to get subs, as CGC spends 3 to 4 times longer grading subgraded slabs vs those that take the easy route, er I mean those that forgo the subs because they 'don't matter'.
  5. Good to see this, I've got a Standard sub Received 03/23 and has been stuck on "Scheduled for Grading" for a while. Seems like they're really picking things up though, lots of my stuff is progressing lately. Shout out to @PaulS. and team I'm definitely noticing the velocity increase on older received orders.
  6. Does anyone know how to get Submission grade results to excel easily? When you copy/paste onto Excel, it puts it all in one column and I had to play with the data a bunch before running a macro to get it into columns.
  7. Anyone know how long Bulk is taking to Finalize/Ship after reaching the Grading/Quality Control phase at the moment?
  8. Alright so Bulk jumped up to 211 days. I know this is a touchy subject for some unnecessary reason, but can anyone articulate what that new 211 ESTIMATION is applicable towards? Does it mean that if a submission is received today for Bulk, it is ESTIMATED to be done in 211 days? Thanks in advance to whoever can provide insight!
  9. Well Ron it sure does not really benefit the Customer outside of Amish submitters traveling from PA to FL on horse and wagon, so if it helps CGC at least someone is benefitting.
  10. "Although we will not be extending the time for members to submit under the old rates, CGC members who completed their online submissions prior to April 28, 2021, will now have until June 28, 2021 for their submissions to be delivered to our facility and still qualify for the old rates." https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/9096/submission-delivery-extension/
  11. Finally checked out, and am on my 8th attempt to open the Packing Slip from my email. I have faith.....
  12. HEY GUYS GET A LOAD OF THIS G.O.A.T. CARD GRADING GENIUS WITH INCREDIBLE FORESIGHT INTO FUTURE TECHNOLOGY BREAKDOWNS. GRADERS HATE HIM!! HE SUBMITTED NOT 1 BUT 2 SUBMISSIONS BEFORE THE DEADLINE!! WHAT!!!!!!!! AND HE EVEN PROVIDED A SNIPPET WITH MS PAINT SCRIBBLING ON IT AS PROOF (NFT potential?). VISIONARY!!!!!
  13. Sup guys. Got piles of Cad Saver 1's around me filled with Pokemon cards and they've got nowhere to go. Mountains of cards as high as the eye can see that never quite made my previous 10 submissions for various flaws or other reasons, but were somehow prime candidates to get in before this price change. I know I'm not the only one. 80 items in cart and couldn't get it in (giggidy). Whatever. Time heals all right.
  14. This is one of the more frustrating experiences I've subjected myself to in a long while. Card grading. Should. Not. Make. Me. Want. To Punch. Things.
  15. From PaulS. earlier: There will be no extension. We gave a week notice, which we did not have to do. Submissions should be submitted before midnight tonight EST.
  16. Hey this exact thing happened to me on a submission a few weeks ago, check your email you may have received the confirmation email with your packing slip like I did. My shopping cart was wiped clean as well, just as FYI.
  17. Anyone know the latest Received date we're seeing Bulk get completed right now? (i.e. they're pushing out Bulk received around 12/15 etc.) Just trying to see how close my 12/23 Bulk is getting to being completed.
  18. Editing my post: CGC as a continuous improvement initiative I recommend Q/A testing/reviewing Centering grades across different cards (specifically Vmaxes as a focal point) as well as comparing Centering grades on sub-graded slabs vs non-subgraded slabs for the same card (again, Vmaxes as a focal point). Keep kicking !!
  19. PaulS mentioned in a random thread the other day that they just got into their bigger facility. I bet that has something to do with things moving along quicker! I’ve had 3 different submissions across different tiers all go into scheduled for grading in the last 48 hours. Let’s gooooo!!
  20. This is 100% nothing negative towards CGC, I just know that in business sometimes the only way things get done quickly is if a competitor threatens to take significant biz away. At my company, we've been developing a 2nd gen software for literally years and it hasn't come out yet because we always have the 1st gen to fall back on... so there's no sense of urgency. And a Product team with no sense of urgency is bad lol. Anyway... I think this PSA news has CGC moving with a little more pep in their step at the moment, because let's be honest, CGC has been taking uncontested layups for months and have only stood to gain business given external factors. There was very little incentive to push cards out quicker when the 'big guy' wasn't even accepting cards unless people want to spend $300! But that's all different now, right, and I'm happy to see things moving along quicker. We all win with competition! Bulk Submission 97 Cards, sub-grades Received 12/23/20 Scheduled for Grading 04/22/21
  21. Wait, I’m not following. What is a “pressed” card?!
  22. Yes, it is a game changer. AI was always the future of grading... I know some people — like the guys from Gem Mint middleman service — live under a rock and were absolutely sure PSA would never go the AI route, but anyone with a functioning business-brain could see this from a mile away. Another L for PSA middlemen lol. Anyway... Hopefully CGC can make moves to further involve their AI that they’ve mentioned previously, because they’re going to need it to keep up now. I’m hopeful they (CGC) have had something ready to deploy but have kept it at bay or haven’t fully utilized it to maximum capacity, but that could just be me being a CGC homer and rooting for “my guy” to counter punch. But when you couple this PSA bombshell of an announcement with the CGC price increase being announced the same day, there’s a lot of interesting things to consider for the future of grading TCG cards. Make no mistake, every grading company has been put on notice to adapt or die. I’m optimistic CGC has something very comparable to what PSA purchased in Genamint and can deploy it quickly to blast through the backlog and stay competitive. At least I am extremely hopeful they do because I want “my guy” to win this fight.
