What are these spots on these 9.8 Amazing Spider-Man 252s?
lostboys replied to Timed's topic in Comics General
People with more knowledge may try and tear your post apart but I see many more newsstand copies for sale on Ebay than direct. -
What are these spots on these 9.8 Amazing Spider-Man 252s?

I also think its just the inside of the cover showing through. Hey, is it true that there are actually way more newsstand copies than direct for issue 252? -
The Amazing Spider-Man
lostboys replied to Mj Bulalacao's topic in Newbie Comic Collecting Questions
Why do copies of ASM 300 always look like it was published in the 60s? The white is never bright white and the red is never dark red. -
When I first started selling my old books on Ebay I listed an X-Men book as a newsstand because it had a barcode. I honestly didnt know any better...just thought barcode = newsstand. I got a very passionate message from a buyer asking why I was calling my book a newsstand when they didnt exist at the time the book was released.

HERO RESTORATION - BOOKS NOT BEING RETURNED
lostboys replied to Kamenliter's topic in Comics General

A sad fact about difference between DC and Marvel
lostboys replied to BA773's topic in Comics General
As someone who recently put together a NM/NM+ Spidey run of just issues 193-400...yes, its damn expensive...even non keys cost $15-$20 in high grade. I may try to put together issues 150 through 192 but not in super high grade. I cant even imagine what it would cost to buy Spidey issues between 100 and 150. -
Do you own a 9.8 CGC Book that you have never read?
lostboys replied to MagnusX's topic in Comics General
I have readers or reprints for all the graded books I own but thats easy when you collect mostly moderns. The only 9.8 I dont have a reader copy for is the Spawn "Thanks" book. -
Thanks! Honestly, I dont think either way is the right way. I sometimes wonder if storing them upright could put more stress on the spine and staples but thats not why I lay them flat. I just feel better having them lay flat. I think they look better flat and I can fit a lot of slabs in one of these drawers. I dont stack higher than 6 slabs though. The ASM drawer in the last pic has 36 slabs inside. ------------------------- Ive also been told its not safe to store them in wooden cabinets...something about the acids in the wood. I dont worry too much about that because the books already have multiple layers of protection (inner well, CGC case, mylar for graded / bag and board for raws) I do make sure to open them every few days to change the air inside.

HERO RESTORATION - BOOKS NOT BEING RETURNED

While its makes sense to ask for your books back, I dont think this guy is dumb enough to think you wont THEN also come for your money. -

Gouge Defect Through Comic (ToD 10)
lostboys replied to Cnight's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I bought them both already graded. I do remember that the ASM 200 was graded recently while the Wolvie #1 was graded 5, 6 or more years ago. So they were graded during different eras of CGC grading. Ill double check when I get home. -
Gouge Defect Through Comic (ToD 10)
lostboys replied to Cnight's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
I have a ASM 200 with the same defect. It was a CGC 9.6 before I cracked it out. I have a Wolvie Limited #1 with it on the pages only. The cover is flawless so it must be a manufacturing defect. It is a CGC 9.6. Ill post pics when I get a chance. -
Jack Kirby's Son Comments On New Stan Lee Documentary
lostboys replied to Cat's topic in Comics General
Im only 45 years old but to me Stan Lee is Marvel Comics much like Hugh Hefner is Playboy Magazine. I enjoyed reading this thread, very educational. -
Sorry for the horrible pics...my phone is, well, not good.

Where in the world was the Quality Control at CGC???
lostboys replied to Wally's Comics's topic in Comics General
So the Wolverine #8 is actually the 9.4? -
Staples can have discoloration on a 9.6?...as in rust? I have the book at home but I didnt see any tears around the staples. It looks more like the top staple is deeper into the book than it should be and it moves around slightly. I guess, as JoeyP said, it "could" be production related. The book is Wolverine #10 so its not a big money book. I can probably buy a 9.6 for $100 but im getting a batch ready to send off to CGC and since I already have this copy I figured id send it in. I just dont want it to come back a 9.2 because of the loose staple. They are all just for my personal collection.
