  1. Ive never seen that before. My last sub has a 3 inch long scratch INSIDE the case. First time ive ever seen that too. And just when Ive gotten good at removing scratches on the outside of the case.
  2. I see this a lot when im browsing for books on Ebay. "These books have been stored in a climate controlled environment!" But is that always a good thing? I came into the office today and it was HOT as hell in here. Got me to thinking: This would not be a good environment for storing comics even though Its a climate controlled environment. What do you all do in the winter when you have to crank up the heat in the house? I live in Rhode Island and it gets pretty cold in the winter so I leave the windows in my comic room open a few inches to let most of the heat out. The door stays closed at all times. My comic room is pretty cold BUT is that just as bad as too warm?
  3. Yep. I asked about this issue on these boards over a year ago. I actually cracked one book out because I was so worried about the book being damaged. The problem was the inner sleeve. I took the inner sleeve out of the slab and It would not lay flat on the table. I took the book out of the inner sleeve and the book did lay flat on the table. It looks bad but as long as the spine is straight, the book inside should be fine. Of course though, the book I cracked was a modern book that had only been in the slab for a few months.
  4. I always view the census as a rough estimate. Why would anyone want to grade the book that came with the toy?
  5. I just bought a 9.6 sig series with a dinged corner...obvious SCS. I went back and looked at the pics in the listing. Of course, now that I know the damage is there, I can see it in the pics. The seller did a good job of hiding it though.
  6. Ebay offers it as an option so I have used it many times with ZERO problems over the years.
  7. Im gobsmacked at the prices Ebay sellers are putting on their newly signed McFarlane books. Do they seriously expect to sell a 9.8 Spawn 301 for $300+ just because it has a sloppy Todd sig and a custom Spawn label???
  8. Its more like they turn flat 9.6s into wavy 9.8s. I wish a good, reliable presser would send me a pm. I have a what should be 9.4 ASM 300 sitting in a 9.0 slab. Im terrified of allowing CCS to touch it.
  9. Modern and some copper. I have terrible luck buying raw copper books or I just suck at grading coppers At this point, I just buy copper books that are already graded. With moderns I try and buy NM+ raw so theyre a bit easier to grade-guess. If I see anything minor on the spine, I get it pressed first, just to be sure. I almost always get the 9.8 but Ive noticed they rarely lay flat in the slab...it triggers my OCD to no end. The moderns that I dont get pressed almost always lay perfectly flat in the slab.
  10. I guess Ive had good results with CCS pressing. I mean, I get a lot of 9.8s. Some books kinda look all wavy like the brim of an old ladies church hat... but the slab says 9.8 so...
  11. I came across this listed defect while reading graders notes for some potential purchases. Does anyone know what it means?
  12. Wiki has his run listed as issues 330-334 & 336-346. Is that accurate? Did he do inside work on some issues and not covers or the other way around in some cases? Thanks!
  13. I guess but fingerprints are a defect that is easily removed with a bit of warm breath and a tissue.
  14. Sooooooo I have 9.8s with ticks and we are here talking about a finger print or color rub bringing a pressed book all the way down to a 9.0?
  15. Im not accusing anyone of anything in this case but Ive had packages delivered to me that were never scanned as delivered. Sometimes the post office just doesnt scan packages at all. I could have easily lied and said they never came. Id never do that but there are all types out there.
  16. Or you could keep em slabbed and buy reader copies.
  17. I have this book in a CGC 9.2 and the only defect I can see through the slab is a tiny bit of color loss above the Marvel Comics logo / top corner. BUT if your book was my book, Id probably cross grade it and let the dice fall where they may. If you ever decide to sell it as is, it probably wouldnt sell unless you just posted a front pic. (not cool BTW)
  18. I bought my ASM 239 in an old slab but when it was delivered it had a crack. I really wanted to have an original slab in my collection but my OCD forced me to reholder it.
  19. They may be to some folks. Ill never pay more for one but I LOVE the way they look on certain books.
  20. I use actual bookends and place a thick piece of cardboard between the bookend and the 1st book.
  21. My older brother left me his Amazing Spider Man collection after he moved out around 1984. Probably around 100 books or more. The next day I had a yard sale, sold them all for $10 and spent it on ice cream and pop tarts... because i was a fat, greedy 8 year old who knew nothing about comics. He still brings it up at gatherings.
  22. Im curious how you feel about Savage Dragon 102 with the Invincible preview.
  23. Ive never read a comic online but I do make sure that I have either a low grade - readers copy, a reprint/facsimile or a TPB for every graded book or series that I own.
