  1. That was eons ago lol.. First I've seen a loose Bats story page. Tnx for sharing.
  2. Did not expect it at all. Sold my Hulk 1 CGC 5.0 last year April for around $15k. I think a 5.0 still sells for around that price, possibly a bit less.
  3. Indeed. It's been a slow mover in terms of value going up for the past 2 years now compared to AF 15, TOS 39, JIM 83, etc.
  4. A shame indeed through the cover, but the inside page says it's an Oct copy so therefore it's a 1st print. $$$!
  5. Agreed! I used to own a low graded copy of MF #52, but sold it :(. I wish I can have it back, such a cool book to own.
  6. Unfortunately that copy looks trimmed big time
  7. Yup, I totally agree with this. People have different situations that come up and $ is needed right away. I don't think an auction house would tell a consignor to not consign their books with them for this particular auction because there are several copies up for sale. They would advise ahead of time like what CC did last month or so where there was a preview of several copies of AF 15 in the 4.0 range and sure enough, most were taken down and will be auctioned off at a later date.
  8. Sure, I can believe that. This book reminds me of the now Tec 27 CGC 2.5 up for auction with high eye appeal front cover, but with the missing pieces on the back cover.
  9. Yes, unpopular characters who do not show up in movies and tv shows are being dismissed, but will always remain important figures for true comic book enthusiasts. Without Jay Garrick, there probably wouldn't be a Barry Allen, without Alan Scott there probably wouldn't be a Hal Jordan. I was just poking fun, which I do a lot if you haven't seen my sig line yet , about how some prospective buyers do not know everything regarding the book itself. When they see a #1 issue, their mind automatically jumps to the "I have to own it" mentality without looking into the characters, content, etc. Maybe they think that the character from the GA Flash is the same as the SA Flash, kinda like how the GA Captain America is still the same character from the SA and beyond. I do like to own a Flash Comics #1 one day. It's been one of my top wants in my wantlist for years now and still have not owned a copy, maybe that will change soon *wink wink* I loved the GA Batman and today's portrayal of Batman. I like the dark figure roaming in the night, the vigilante who casts fear on criminals. A figure of the night. As a collector, the pre-robin tecs really set off my interest, i just loved the cover artwork. Batman will always be the one of the three top DC characters that will never go out of fashion and will always create interest of all ages for years to come.
  10. Attractive looking copy. Not sure if the 11 pages of slightly missing artwork would make a difference in the final hammer price. I would like to see how much of the art is affected for a book of this caliber.
  11. I think it's also safe to say that Tec 27 is tougher to find than an Action 1 in practically all grades. Could also be the reason why we do not see any Tec 27 loose pages floating around.
  12. I think the gap would be narrower between Bat 1 and Supes 1 with that cover since classic covers have been the norm of high sale prices for a book, sometimes moreso than the content itself (Tec 31 or 29 vs Tec 33). I personally would pay more for that kind of cover with the Joker than what we see now.
  13. Maybe if there was spacing between grades when auctioning off multiple copies where values differ greatly. I like to use a min. of 2 full grades. So for example, an auction house having a copy in 2.0, 4.0, 6.0.. The cost between those 3 grades are far apart where it would possibly take different buying pools of buyers (those who can afford grades in the 0.5-2.0, those who can afford one in the 3.0-5.0, etc.). That way, you can see all the people in that particular group outbid each other coming down to the last second with almost the same range of their max bid. If you have books that are in sequential grading order like we see with Heritage, than those underbidders can just put their bids onto the next higher or lower graded copy and pray they win for cheaper. Of course, this is most effective if books are either all chipped or non-chipped. Could possibly work if it's a mixed batch.. With regards to the 5.5 copy that sold for cheap, I would've placed a bid if there weren't books in the CL and CC auctions I am interested in. I like how the 5.5 looks than the 5.0 that sold for higher, primarily because of the colorstrike difference where the 5.5 has a more greyish tone and the 5.0 a yellowish tone.
  14. Only 7.0 copies are being affected by spiderturtle
  15. If only Bat 1 had Joker on the front cover instead of the boy blunder Can you imagine how much more valuable the book could have been!?
  16. I was surprised by the result as well especially with that edge dust shadow... I'm wondering if the bidders know that the golden age flash is not Barry Allen
  17. Definitely a better comic book show than Comic book Men
  18. Same book from that new boardie who had a for sale thread of silver age key books this past week.
  19. You sure Doug paid $250k for it? Might have been negotiated for lower.
  20. Wow what a 9.0 copy!!! Beautiful in every way. Should sell for 9.2 price is what I'm predicting. I wonder why it graded at such.
  21. Bob knows who the seller is, so the seller does have some valid credibility that he does have these books in his possession.
