  1. I do - it's just that the tiny flaws distract one from enjoying the piece, Other OCDs will understand . . .
  2. Christal? Vageries? Truely? I know it's impossible to spell check hand lettered pages, but three on the single shown here really puts me off reading the thing. It is too distracting. /rant
  3. I like "The Chickadee Challenge" from Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #181 (October 1955). Linky Not too much Donald and a whole lot of Junior Woodchuck goodness.
  4. I wondered where "Peacemaker" got his head dress stylings from: Great books in this thread. "Fifth column of Occidentals"
  5. That's a cracker inside front cover ad. Can anyone enlighten me as to why there are so many copyright years? GCD doesn't indicate any of the contents were published before 1943 - but there are gaps in the "record".
  6. Hello. Wot's this email from the Boards? Like Betelgeuse, only without the repetitions. Now that's a comic book. If you are not a condition "nut" these are pretty available and affordable - with the exception of the very desirable #6 - the KKK issue. It's interesting that "back in the day" the #12 was considered the star of the run (the "Monkey" drug story and cover) but seems to have lost favour in the last thirty years. What is great about EC's is that the stories are generally top notch.
  7. Very nice app, Nick. Small point, the cover shown for Adventure #267 (2nd Legion) is actually Action #267. No. I am not going to proof out every listing, but do you want users to let you know regarding "problems"? Anyway, well done
  8. Latest Facebook post regarding the museum: " The Museum is safe, but still without power, so we will be closed again today. Our hearts and thoughts are with our community! Please stay safe! "
  9. Great first post. Welcome Back to the Boards
  10. No thread left behind, Harry. I am watching "Mean Girls" as I type and I am seeing a lot of Board parallels. A lot. Funny that your latest offering is "Uncanny X-Men" #3. This, was the oldest Marvel I had for many years - I found it in my Scout Hall, of all places, ca 1970. Thought I'd preserve it by putting tape around the three open sides of the cover
  11. Oh dear, someone has pulled a string . . . It's interesting that any Russian "Marshal" automatically gets the full Stalin treatment.
  12. I think you are correct, AJD, in that this is an American yarn that has been adapted for Australian consumption. The cover is a local production, of course, thus the Old Parliament House illustration and the prominent "Canberra" statement. Internally, the shot of the War Memorial exterior looks nothing like the ACT offering - in fact it looks far more "American" ala their Supreme Court, National Archives etc. I cannot think of any building in Canberra that looks like it - except for the US embassy Interesting book. First one I have seen.
  13. Nice book AJD and it prompted unbidden a statement from many years ago. Barks collectors in the "olden days" (read:1970's ) whilst of course actively pursuing the first print, US editions would also chase Australian reprints due to the superior page quality (pretty glossy) and the consequent vibrant colours. Is this G17 the "censored/edited" version?
  14. Opt in, opt out. Your choice (though by default, all US sellers are "in". Just be aware that the buyer pool shrinks remarkably when the GSP is the offering. Problem is most (US) sellers do not know they are in it. Here's an example. This offering has the astonishing shipping price of $US70.75 to me in Oz. One comic. I consider the GSP a fraud on an industrial scale, charging non-existent "duties and taxes" and where that's the shipping, I ain't interested. /rant off
  15. What happened to "Psychoanalysis"? It was around at the same time, and surely a candidate for the strangest title (and content) ever for a funny book. I have wondered whether "Psychoanalysis" as a title was Gaines' attempt at an "up you" to Wertham.
  16. http://www.stolencomic.com/ I feel your pain.
  17. A terrific start, nailing the somewhat esoteric "duck" reference and then all is undone with a huge lack of attention to the spelling of "behaviour". Yes, my American cousins, my example is the way it should be spelt. Now you have chosen to hashtag my considered offering as "#bizarrerant". Really. Wait until we really meet up. Then there will be some "eye contact".
  18. Cousin Bertie? Is there a movie deal in the wind? Lovely book Andrew, beautiful solid cover colours and that ad has a faint "art deco" feel to it. I am also pleased to see yet another confusing Duck cover. Donald marooned on a pole in the middle of what seems to be a lake. How will he escape this dangerous predicament? Well, there is a reason that the expression "like a duck to water" is considered a cliche. I'm considering starting a run at covers that, in a variety of ways, ignore the fact that Donald and his relatives are ducks. And don't get me started on Donald and the boys eating turkey at Thanksgiving or putting pants on to go swimming
  19. Post the stolen books here: http://stolencomic.com/
  20. I've had to store comics (although mostly magazines) in piles, but I have always "turned" the spines so that the pile doesn't get lop-sided and it minimises the risk of spine roll. Usually five comics then turn another five etc. I hope I have made the procedure clear. From the pics, I think you are doing it anyway. With all of your shelves, ledges and piles I'd be afraid to move something for fear the entire edifice would collapse
  21. Start a pile. Yes, I'm a long way from you and shipping is expensive. I understand this.
