  1. Great trio of Fox books! It's incredible how much the market has changed for these later superhero Fox books. They could be had for a song a few years ago,now they're setting records in every auction. I always felt they were under appreciated..no longer! WOW THAT IS QUITE THE GROUPING BROTHER!!!!!!! I will be honest I don't ever remember seeing a 28 for sale since I've started really chasing these. Heritage hasn't sold a copy in over 10 yrs!!! That's saying something right there...that 29 is super neat too!! All 3 are just perfect dude you know I love that 27!! I still need both those latter 2 I'm your man if you ever need to move em Great stuff dude thanks for sharing love seeing pics like this We can all appreciate those I think. Love the 27 and 28. If Gino passes i'd be a player too
  2. That would have been perfect. +1 And like Gadzukes said it is still a strong cover.
  3. I wouldn't keep a girl in a box, encased in plastic either.
  4. Those are strong moves. But, if WWBN 32 can go for crazy money, JO 134 should too. Looking at the latest 8.5 and 9.2 sales, I guess that means my 9.0 is now a $1000 book? Wow, that has moved up fast. The current action on ASM #129 is amazing as well. Where was the 9.4 sale? EDIT: Don't worry I found it.
  5. Captain America Comics no# 78 >>>>>> Captain America Comics no# 74. There I said it!!
  6. Damn. What a psycho buyer! He B-Locked! X 1,000,000 Seriously, who has time to do this mess? If he has time to do that he is probably just waiting and sitting there counting down the milliseconds for his precious book to ship... The seller should have communicated something (or maybe there is a reason) but this guy is the epitome of self-entitled nerd. Buyer is an insufficiently_thoughtful_person.
  7. LOVE it!!! One of my favorites!! Definitely need an upgrade on mine You gotta love the colours on that cover.
  8. I agree. they have set season two up very nicely. Looks like it will be lots of fun.
  9. There are some exceptions: Avengers #93 The Cat #1 Marvel Spotlight #5 Marvel Team-Up #1 try finding any of these in 9.8 with White pages. You can add MS 2 and Bats 238 to that list.
  10. Reasonable guess...... Beautiful stuff. Your collection boggles my mind.
  11. Jeepers! What a book to start with!! You always have the nicest stuff.
  12. Mad #11 is ugly, to be fair. But Wolverton really shines on sci-fi and horror stories. To me it is ugly in a good way. But I guess that is why this thread is such a good idea. It is great to see these differences of opinion.
  13. I'd burn you at the stake except for the fact he drew almost ZERO covers! No love for Mad 11?
  14. Me too. Once DC gets beyond 1944 I stop being interested. I'm also not a fan of the non-sci-fi and non-superhero Centaurs. I get that they are scarce and may have some good interiors, but I can't get past the awful "humor" covers. Kids tripping over stuff and spilling paint is not really my thing. +1 on the Centaurs.
  15. I absolutely love L.B Cole but I have never understood the appeal of Blue Bolt 115. Why is a skull wearing a blonde wig? And while I am on skull covers I think Punch 12 is overrated. It is good but nearly 30k in VF seems absurd to me. Also Suspense 3, the anatomy on the central hooded figure is horribly drawn. Terrific 5 is miles better IMO. And finally, Rayboy covers don't do anything for me. I have never liked any of them and probably never will.
  16. A boardie bought a midgrade CGC Marvel mystery 46 for $950 last year. Earlier this year another grabbed an Atomic War! 1 at a buy it now of $1500 that graded out as the highest on census and then sold at auction for $2900. And no it wasn't me
  17. Crikey! That's a find! +1 Were they all in the same place? Seems very unusual.
  18. Maybe the Misfits reunion concerts in September is adding to the attraction... Not to mention that it's a rough black cover and one of the more sought after covers in the run. Can't justify the price for all lower grade copies but maybe this was a case of two or more collectors just wanting it badly! I don't think so. This VG copy on HA just sold for $478 including BP: http://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/horror/chamber-of-chills-19-harvey-1953-condition-vg-/a/121629-13279.s?ic2=mytracked-lotspage-lotlinks-12202013 I'd say the Ebay buyer overpaid.
  19. Piece of cake Wow. Double wow!! Bravo!! Now someone just needs to find one of these: Don't tell me you have one??!!!
  20. Piece of cake Wow. Double wow!! Bravo!! Now someone just needs to find one of these:
  21. I have to split mine into my two focus areas GA Ghostly Weird 122 Cosmic Aeroplane Harvey Comics Library 1 9.0+ Fantastic 3 VF or higher Real Life Comics 3 9.0+ Weird Comics 2 Mile High BA ASM 129 9.8 White WWBN 32 9.8 White IH 181 9.9 GL 76 9.8 Bats 227 9.8
  22. I highly doubt it will be canceled before a second season.
  23. I agree. I think part of the problem is not many HG copies actually exist. SPJM was not the most popular title and I don't think it saw the same speculative interest that other bronze titles did. The census (while only a poor proxy) is interesting in this case. Only 558 graded copies total! Only six in 9.8. and We haven't seen a substantial rise in those numbers since the book's price started to climb. So my feeling is the census won't ever explode. As a comparison IM 55 has 1969 copies with 53 in 9.8 and ASM 129 has 6320 copies on census with 89 in 9.8. The white cover and availability of copies with a slightly offset spine to mask color breaking spine creases that can be pressed flat make IM 55 an easier book in high grade. The darker cover is an issue with Jimmy Olsen #134. I agree. There is a confluence of factors which make this a difficult book in HG.
