lol all the books have gone the opposite direction the OP was saying they would after it was released. The 1:100 is the one he was invested in and was hoping to get $175 each for his...

Way too much risk with high ratios in my opinion....but in this market once all the books dry up and something makes the book pop, the 1:100 will be a winner maybe.  Not so much right now if you paid $75+?

  2. These are just Captain America variants for his 80th anniversary, right?  Just like the venomized/knullified variants these are not permanent costumes so I'm not sure why there would be too much buzz.  That said, I was looking at this cover myself last night on TFAW finalizing my orders, and was contemplating getting a handful of these with the regular cover only because I have ordered the whole clone saga set thus far.

I'll typically order 5 of any new Image #1, but I only picked up one; figured there's little chance a book with animals is going to be adapted.

I thought the premise sounded cool but just couldn't do it.  It took all this time for the series to really pick up steam even with multiple printings on all the issues.  Reader buzz was there and now the market caught up.  I did just order all the latest printings of 1-4 just for laughs and giggles.

Yes that Venom run was very popular pre-pandemic, for one reason.  The writing. I don't care for it but many many do.

I've read the majority up to the last HC, vol.2 I believe.  I will get the vol. 3 HC as well just to see what is up, but yea, I'm not all that impressed with it either.  TBH, I don't really like that much superhero content any more, period.  The same old cliche stuff always happens IMHO.  I have all the singles for the most part, and some in pretty high numbers.  It doesn't matter if I like it, only that others like it.  Moving forward the next run might make some of the books pop again, or the exact opposite and go in an entirely different direction, who knows.

So many people buying comics who have no idea what they are doing.

    True Believers X-men 129 fleabay

The biggest problem in my experience is that people don't want to read.  I post books saying 2nd print in the title and the body of the listing for example;not to mention the UPC showing 2nd print, and 2nd printing written somewhere on the cover maybe.  Then someone comes along and asks me in a message whether or not the book is a 1st print.....WTF!?!  If someone doesn't know that the book is a reprint by looking at the huge True Believers written on the top, the modern day UPC in the left corner, the brand new looking paper and materials etc., the cover price itself AND the fact that the CGC label denotes the year printed, and that it reprints X-Men #129 then I have no remorse for the buyer.  Somehow the seller is supposed to read the listing for them and then telepathically give them the info...sorry folks that is only in the comics we love and read.  These same people must need someone to tell them to wipe their arse after they take a dump, too!

  6. McFarlane has stated in an interview that the only reason they created Venom was because he wanted Peter in his regular red and blue costume because that is how he knew Spider-Man, and wanted to draw him in his classic suit. Venom was the byproduct of taking the symbiote off him and moving it to Brock.  To them, Venom was probably kind of a throw away.

I'm a bit surprised there are so many SS signed by Keanu Reeves on eBay.  Was there a huge signing event when the first book was released?

I do know that Keanu did an in-house signing at CGC for the 1:1000 only to my knowledge.  Other than that I'm not sure about any other signings.

ill go with FFWW1 as the key book. all things considered i would say DM7 would be the cameo. and we all know how cameo's are viewed.

I personally really like that Jenny Frison cover B on issue 2 not for spec purposes just taste.

Ok I usually know the acronyms, but what is DM 7?

At that store or in general? I find that right now the market moves so fast that there are deals hanging out all over the place, especially online but in local shops too. I don't believe the hype around X-Men #161 will last fwiw but I have already bought five or six copies under $10 in the last week and I've already sold two for $30 each. Stuff like that is not getting repriced at the rate the market is moving if you're quick. Secret Wars #3 heating up out of nowhere is another example, though yeah some shops do stay more on top of their moderns at least.

I found a copy of Mortal Kombat II Collector's Edition in decent FN+ shape for $2.99 just a week or so ago. I may've missed the boat to sell that for max profits but I think I can get maybe $150 for it? And that was in a local shop so there's still plenty of stuff lurking out there with how fast random stuff has been heating up. IMO video game comics continue to be an area of opportunity if you can find them in high grade. They're almost always low print.

In Orlando in general getting good books for cheap is very hard.  Coliseum is way overpriced and they only bag most back-issues with no backing board (90% of the books in the bins).  When a book gets hot they go grab the copy from the bin that has been getting beat to mess with no backing board, and plop it on the wall for ebay NM prices + 20%.  I have seen 7.0 looking books on the wall for those NM ebay prices. It is insanity.  Don't even get me started on Acme comics in Longwood with their $1 room where you'll never get good stuff from as they will tell you " that is not supposed to be in there" etc.  This is a pretty tough city to be in as a comic buyer.

In that shop? Wow that was a find. Thats the most overpriced comic store I have ever been too.

Yep, the location by the Millennia Mall; that is their main store.  Couldn't believe it either as I just looked at it in the bin with my hand on it thinking it was a prank. Whoever priced that from a collection and put it in the bin had no idea what it was, and either did the cashier girl, though she did give a quick pause like she kind of knew it was older and much more obscure looking for a $4 price tag.  That is the exception, though.  Most of the time you'd be lucky to stealth buy a $15 book for cover before they find out about it, and that was pre-Key Collector etc.

A dealer friend got one for $1 at a sidewalk sale I was at...I remember him holding the book up to show me. he sold it shortly after for $350.. it was around 8.5 raw.. still hurts lol.

Mine is at least a 9.0 maybe 9.2.  Even with some pressing love it will never be a 9.8, but I would be happy with a 9.4 slab.  Book has got to be pretty darn rare.
