Bad News that turned into good news.
The bad news was that I had been looking at buying x-men #96 in 9.6 from Vintage Collectibles, but it was offered on Ebay.
The good news is that i won it even greater news...cheaper than i would have paid for it directly .
Once I get it i'll scan it

Here's one I got yesterday. Perhaps one of the lamest covers ever. Heck, my LCS had this for years and in decent shape, but I never grabbed it til yesterday. [/img]
X-Men vs. Frankenstein...what's not to like about it

I really like those HOLIDAY covers guys. One area I still don't have any LB Cole books is the funny animal covers.
And that Blue Bolt 104 cover kicks butt!
I've still got to scan in the cover to issue 2 of Holiday Comics, though i am eyeing an upgrade to that issue.

with Extensive (A) restoration!
That one has been through the wars!!

Well since we've all been posting our best looking issues, i thought how about we post the worse looking x-men issue that we've got.
Okay.... Take a look at this one.
Have you ever seen so much spine roll?
CycleGirl
Wow, getting it graded?

Here's a scan of an X-men 16 (offered to me by my LCS about a week after the one i got from cyclegirl...and which i couldn't pass up). The scan is not the greatest but the comic is only marred by a cut running from the face of cyclops to the start of the "X" in X-men. But still nice overall.
A really nice looking book! I can't see the cut you're talking about though. Does it go through the paper or is it more of a narrow gouge?
If you don't mind me asking.... How much is he asking for the book?
CycleGirl
It goes from about the right cheek of cyclops up in the top left hand corner to the start of X in X-Men. From the scan it looks like a very slight indentation, but it goes through the cover.
And as for how much, since he is one of those souls who is a great guy and i've been friends with for about 10 years, he sould it to me for $45 Aussie...conversion would be about $40 US.
Will you submit it to CGC?
I'm thinking yes because it should still grade out well
Plus i'll have to keep an eye out when my LCS has a little sale of all the stuff he has acquired.
Good luck on the submission Be sure to let us know how it comes out!
That i will do..in about 2 months time, depending on how quick they are..

I haven't gotten my 15 yet. Short on cash for it. It was still there and I'm hoping come birthday time maybe the wifey will pick it up for me. I should probably mention that despite how badly I geeked out over Call of Duty 3 and Madden 07 today, I'd still probably DIE if she got me the X-Men 15. It's a pretty copy.
*sends note to rob's wifey to not buy 15 as we don't want a death on our hands...buy it for me instead*

3 more to add to this thread (thought the Great Comics has already been seen). The Blue Bolt 102 and Great Comics are my pride and joy for the Cole covers

Even though this thread has been a little quiet...here are some additions (with a couple more to be scanned)
2 of the D copies from Heritage that i couldn't bypass (missed out on the number 2)

recent pickup.....
you guys need to start you own mini club...
called the "X- 9.8 Association"
I suggested:
Xavier's School for Gifted Comic Collectors
or, the Hellfire Comic Club
or, the Brotherhood of Mutant Lovers
but MK thought the last one was kind of fruity
so right now we're unofficially the Brotherhood of X-Men Collectors
Or to use something even more apt... X-Nation 9.8
(I would hate to see who associates with which Brotherhood character...MK *spoon* Toad )

Ok you wonderful people i need suggestions on what to send in for my first slabbing experience. Should i send in my #'s 8, 9, 10 (and possibly a #6) coming soon or should i just test the waters first and send in #'s starting from #100 and move backwards from there, since i have 2 #'s from the mile high 2 group (my understanding is that CGC doesn't recognise them as a pedigree).
Any suggestions would be appreciated, before i start considering some of my GA titles.

Early Siegel & Shuster goodness...
My favorite early Superman cover!!
I've always enjoyed how the early artists always did a great job on the definition of their art.

Pay my CC bills
Me too
Trust me, working for the bank doens't help you in anyway to pay them off sooner (or hide from them)

Actually, I just started (unintentionally) and X-Men SA collection thanks to Pirate. So I think my New Year's resolution is going to be to work from that issue back to number 1. (which will take more than 1 year.) I'd like to slab each book as well.
Well Rob (great name ) you cannot find another bunch of great x-men-ites then the ones who frequent this thread to help you out with that goal
though watch out for KC and MK they be mean and nasty
Who me?
must be good if i want to see his collection, i guess

Actually not far off it, the last issue before the reprints started was #66 i think. So it was on the downward spiral at the time. It's a wonder why they didn't try to introduce the Hulk or Spiderman into the mix to try and save it
