  1. Update : Got the book safely . I insured it myself through shipandinsure.com Cost around $16 for $7000 of insurance . I did have to pay to join shipandinsure , they have yearly memberships . My situation . Following this post which I just updated where I am being reimbursed for stolen books that Fedex did not deliver properly . I have another submission after the stolen submission a (avengers 3 ) with an insured value of $1000. This book was upgraded to walkthrough tier , it got a grade of 9.4 which was well beyond my expectations as I cracked a slab that was a 6.5 to get it regraded . This slab here : I am being charged for upgraded grading tier but unfortunately CGC says the insured value cannot be changed from 1000. The last two sales of the book are 6700 and 7000 I believe . I recently had a order stolen as described in the first thread posted . CGC says they cannot increase the insurance on the book despite paying for the higher grading tier . Any ideas ? I do not want to have the book shipped with insurance of only $1000 based on my past shipping problem .
  2. Update : I am being reimbursed by CGC's insurance . Fedex denied the claim I believe that CGC submitted which is standard for them I think, despite them not fulfilling their contractual duties to get a signature. The good news is CGC has told me that I will be reimbursed for the fmv of the books, which I believe will be $660 which was a fair assessment of the value . I believe CGC has their own private insurance which is covering the books. So I am happy for this and the claims department was helpful . I still am having an issue with another much more expensive order which I am trying to get insured before shipping which I will probably make another post about . Thanks to all who replied !
  3. No did not find books at the local comic shop. I stopped by the local comic book shop early in the process and no one had tried to sell them the books . I just posted the books that I am missing .

  5. On a past order before the stolen package they said they attempted a delivery . I was skeptical and the representative I talked with on the phone said the driver acually did not make an attempt . I think a lot of the employees realize that there are odd things going on and I am guessing they deal with issues like this all the time and inacurate reporting of a"delivery attempt".
  6. I had a order after the one that was lost/stolen/misdelivered, coming two days after the stolen package . I talked to the semi-local hub and they delivered it to a Fedex pickup facility acually very close to my apartment . It was no problem and I will be pre-emptively calling in the future . They were sympathetic about the package I had stolen but they did not end up giving me a straight answer about the signature situation and were clear that they could not do anything and i needed to call either the shipper or the National Fedex number . My first attempt at calling the national number only resulted in them saying the package was delivered in what looked like a automated email , despite the CSR saying someone would call me in 24 hours . The next local person I talked to said I had just filed a dispute and needed to file a claim or talk with the shipper (CGC ) and have them file a claim . The local people acually talk to you like a human as opposed to reading a -script but unfortunately they don't seem to have any power to do anything besides redirect packages to a pickup spot .
  7. Yes will probably file a police report . A lot of people in my apartment complex have had packages stolen recently . The police have more power I believe in getting the apartment complex to turn over footage . Unfortunately a lot of the theft has been attributed to people coming in the building visiting and identifying a specific person may be low probability , but video could prove that I did not sign for the package or at least give a better idea of what happened .
  8. How should I proceed in terms of filing a claim ? Should I go through CGC and try to get them to file a claim or do I need to do it through Fedex?

I have not been too good with documentation of the departments I have talked to so far but do have pictures of the box outside the building , a text conversations with the person in my building who informed me my box was outside and empty , and possibly video from the apartment complex surveillance cameras but getting access to this may be dificult .
  10. Yes this seems rather serious . I wonder if it is a Fedex policy to leave the item sometimes and just say it was signed for , but it seems so egregious when they are specifically paid to provide the service of getting a signature.
  11. Yes I understand mistakes to a degree but to outright lie about what happened , and to do so in regards to a signature . And to be on the phone with different people without being able to get definitive information and then more untruths or what appears to be . The person at one of the local offices was pretty upfront saying it was cut and dried that Fedex was at fault . Unfortunately she has no power to do anything so I have to call the national number . In the past the people at the national number were very bad at communicating and not the best at speaking the English language so this is very frustrating .
  12. Yes my guess was the driver just left it and yes just left it in the lobby . We have thefts in my building frequently and this is precisely the service a shipper is paying for to prevent theft - a in person signature from the person who the item is being delivered to .

I was supposed to receive an order from CGC with an insured Value of $800. The box was found open , outside my building without the contents inside . (Graded comic books from CGC ) When I go to the Fedex website it says I signed for the package which I definitely did not . When I spoke with a local Fedex rep they started an investigation which I believe included talking to the driver. I was then told the driver had someone in the office of my apartment complex sign for the package . The office staff says this is not the case as they are not even there on Saturday . Regardless I did not sign for the package in person and the package contents are missing . I tried to call the national Fedex number but they only determined by what I believe is an automated response that the package was delivered . I again called a local Fedex office and was told to file a claim or contact the person who shipped it to have them file a claim . Any ideas as to how to proceed? I have put in one of the written requests explaining the situation to CGC yesterday but so far have not received a response . It seems pretty clear that Fedex did not fulfill their duties and even said they did and then gave a different story and the second story does not appear to be true either . Thank You
  14. I have 2 books I am receving back from CGC after Grading and signing . They are shipping them Fedex . Package requires a signature . I received a tracking number and live in an apartment complex . The first day it was supposed to be delivered no one came to my door and I received a email stating no one was home or they could not get in the business . So I called up Fedex customer service , he told me the message was in error and no one attempted to deliver the package on that day but give him my phone number and they will contact me before delivery on the next attempt and I can meet the driver . So Today , in my apartment all day, no contact and I get the same message . Call up Fedex , he says the representative the day before took my number in error and the drivers never call before delivery but this time he could have a text message sent before delivery . On the email I received it says it is the third and final attempt coming up. I have been at my apartment literally all day long. I understand the driver may not be able to get in the building but I can't even discern whether acual attempts at delivery have been made. Service representatives seems like they are reading off a -script and are giving conflicting information .

  17. Submitted two books for Mcfarlane signing . CGC still does not have it registered as a submission for me . It does come up as being received and in their warehouse based on the tracking number .

  19. Hi Recently paid to have two Slabbed comics signed at the Todd McFarlane signature event . I then saw that comics needed to be in a window bag . I have heard that if the comic is in a slab it does not need a window bag but just wanted to confirm that I can now just mail in the slabs and will be all set . Thank You Rick
  20. Yeah best case scenario is you just dont need one when the book is already in a slab .
  21. Hi , I have just paid to have two books signed by Todd McFarlane . After payment it said I need a in-house private signing card and a window bag . Both of the comics I am sending are resubmissions , still sealed in the cgc case and this was stated when filling out the submission form including the exact numbers of the old slabs . Can I just mail the slabs as is without any window bags or private signing cards? It does say items will not be signed without these . I never heard of window bags before filling out the form and paying and it would be difficult to get them before the signing deadline . Thanks!
