Classic Cover by Perez+Austin!  Outstanding Byrne interiors embellished by inking legend Gene Day. Not many books in the history of the Comics Industry before or since from cover to cover  that looked so beautiful.  Apologies for getting so choked up, but the saying they don't make them like that anymore applies to Avengers 181

 

This book is an amazing book I have one and I think if you’re a fan of the avengers you have to own a copy it’s such a brilliant book

Personally I go for his appearances in fantastic four after the trilogy and also the one shot with Byrne the two parter and the graphic novel and also his defenders appearances and of course the classic TTA cover plus whatever books he tends to appears in general up till the 90s volume 

I’d look at getting some silver surfer volume 1 issues the covers are amazing and I always enjoyed those stories compared to the 90s volume what is awful I think

I think the are realistically very few 49 pence copies what are in very nice grade the only two I’ve ever seen are mine Kevin’s 

This one seems to be pretty hard to find in higher grade I’ve found

Well loved copies are great cause they have character to them it shows that to someone thought those stories where brilliant

Yeah I love the defenders it’s got that charm of a team where all the members just don’t get along and are reluctantly working together

I’ve never read the full story so I’m going to buy all to read and then probably grade 10 but keep the rest raw I have all the avengers parts and have read them so started hunting the other parts because I enjoyed the avengers parts plus it means I get some more surfer appearances of my list

Still  glad those used to be easy to come by. I remember trying to sell my raw to the LCS, and they told me, "is that a key? I have a stack of them in back!" and offered me $3

I know how you feel I really should of kept some back with the prices there at now 

I think the only time I really did flip some comics was when first Silk was really popular I used to pick up them up at £5 each and sell them on for £50 the people who bought them thought they where getting a bargain and I bought some keys I wanted with the profit

Clean the back up a bit and maaaybbbbeee a 9.2 but 9.0 seems right. 

I’ll probably leave the back as it is if it does come back a 9.0 I’m extremely happy considering how long I’ve searched for a high grade copy

There’s no doubt in my mind I’ll pick up a lower grade copy it’s just finding one for a good price warlock seems to have gone mad recently

Looks a solid 7.5 to me. Tough book to find in really high grade, especially among the pence copies. You're doing OK there. Hope you have a reader copy too. That book's the cornerstone of my Marvel universe. 

I only have this copy at the moment but I have ordered a collected edition so I can read it without damaging this copy
