  1. I was just thinking about that...comics definitely my best asset class over the long term. Last night my kids and i were calculating the percent gain on the batch of NM Thor’s 337-350 I bought for 60 cents each at the time (the only time I ever bought 5-6 copies of the same issue). Pretty good return although one of these days I’ll need to get around to seeing how many CGC deems 9.8 to see just how good the return is!
  2. No offense intended...was in comparison to another issue someone had just posted. But it is true I don’t love it like other comics in my collection (ie the ones I bought to read vs have in my collection).
  3. Thanks...makes sense and for the record i did not pay 2 cents...i got it at a late 70s convention for $2. 🤪
  4. Since I was rebagging my Avengers 1 I took some pictures. Someone else posted a nice copy of this issue earlier...this is not so nice. in fact I hadn’t looked at it in 40 years...first page has part cut out (picture attached)...rest of pages good. Does that make it an automatic 0.5? thanks
  5. Congrats and u just made my day...I’ve got lot of raw comics from that era that look like that that I’ve assumed were 3.0 ish
  6. Thanks! Any sense if drawings like these by Colan are common?
  7. Just posted this in OA forum but thought I’d add here too for Doctor Strange / Gene Colan fans. I had completely forgotten I owned this but have had for at least 40 years
  8. Wow an entire thread devoted to the Fantastic Four! Where was this when I was a kid collecting FF? Oh wait the internet didn’t exist yet. I got up to issue 250 before I stopped collecting (and ended up with 8-250 plus 3). I’m doing my semi-regular rebagging/boarding so will send out a few pix.
  9. Thanks for your thoughts and wondering in particular since I’ve yet to have a comic cleaned/pressed, how much you think back cover could be improved and impact on grading. I didn’t buy this new - I’m old but not that old - but have owned it for over 45 years. Have always loved this cover. In fact that run of covers issues #72-75 is amazing.
  10. thanks....was hoping everyone else threw theirs out with the newspaper! Mine is NM so at least there's that.
  11. Found this in my collection. Grandma gave it to me when I was a kid. Anyone know anything about it or its collectibility?
  12. haha...after catching up some and seeing what I have it does look like comics have been my best performing asset class over the past few decades. Have to decide if I'm a buyer, a seller or just a holder.
  13. Since you're all in a chatty mood...who are all you people...what's the mix on this site...is it dealers, individual collectors...?
  14. wait I'm playing catch up after 35 years away (I'm like the Captain America of collecting)...I only just found out my previously worthless Moon Knight #1 was worth something...now are you saying it's not anymore?
  15. Haha...all good...someone just needs to explain what I do now (and I how do I invoke the official “I’ll take it” emoji?!)
  16. A lot of firsts here.... first comic I’ve bought in about 35 years first time buying comic online and here (obviously) first graded/slabbed comic in my collection This is part of my research on what to do with my collection.
  17. Interesting insights from Stan Lee on the creative process at Marvel circa 1970
  18. This one feels like a good candidate for cleaning and pressing but let me know what you think. Missing MSV. to show U how old I am I included a picture of the original bag and price tag from the convention I got it at.
