  1. No wonder you guys have more posts than me in less years.
  2. We didn't spell welcome wrong, we just forgot a space....... it's supposed to be "WE COME to the boards" ...... or maybe not.
  3. I like this approach! The Comic Book Collecting Association has a stickied thread in its General Comics Discussion forum for this very reason. Should this be a permanent thread at the top of Comics General? I agree that there should be a stickied thread in comics general, for new members. ........ and maybe a stickied thread in CG for us old farts too.
  4. From my experience, I personally like 9.8 copies from late Silver Age and early Bronze but the only thing I am not willing to throw my money away. From the same age group, I can afford on those 9.6 copies for example Batman #227 and Hulk #181 because those prices have been steady for few years - sometimes it does some drops in the price but it is easy to predictable. The price for 9.8 copy is unpredictable and may be unstable. I remember few years ago, ASM #129 9.8 could be sold for $10,000 or more but it is now $5000. Hulk #181 9.8 was insanely overpriced during the time when Wolverine movie was around and the price is now mellowed down. You will never know if the price for 9.8 copies will stay top for a long time. I feel comfortable with the price for 9.6 copies only for late Silver Age and early Bronze Age. After that age group, the price for either 9.8 or 9.6 is never guaranteed. I think the most dangerous age group is Modern. It doesn't matter which 9.6 or 9.8 but it goes down fast and faster. It is just a vibe or fad. I think it is safer to own any books from late Silver or early Bronze in either 9.6 or 9.8. My money too. Plenty of people lost a lot of money when buying 9.8s years ago, particularly on Bronze books. Back when there weren't many 9.8s around they commanded a significant premium but once the census filled up through people digging out all their old copies and other copies being pressed up the grading scale, there was no way that those kind of prices were sustainable. Those people would've lost a lot less money if they'd bought 9.6s. Now 9.9 is more like what a 9.8 was and people who have spent a massive load of money for the only 9.9 on the census will be the ones standing to make a big loss in the future.
  5. I submitted a book that came back as a 9.6. It came back with a cracked case so got sent back and received a 9.8. The difference between a 9.6 and a 9.8 is the difference between one day and the next.
  6. Sold Boon a bunch of trades and raws this week and as always, he is an absolute pleasure to deal with and chat to.
  7. Or you could scan the books and make a copy of the covers on your printer and safely store your books in a comic box. But what do I know? Amen! I can't understand using the actual comic,it's just damaging the book. Geez guys, I was just asking for some advice on an idea I had, what's with the sarcastic comebacks. Some of you guys can have right ***** attitude to others sometimes. How about a sensible reply like 'That may damage the spines of the book because of the pressure of a clip frame, you could always use a scan to preserve the book itself' rather than all this 'But what do I know' and 'Amen to that' . Don't get wound up about it, mate. It's just the way that some people speak around here and I don't believe they were intending to be sarcky. If you read the boards much, you'll see loads of these kinds of comments with no offense intended. Personally, I'd rather display scans of books than risk any damage to great Silver Age books like that.
  8. Yeah, Hobgoblin had a far better look than the Green Goblin. That's why they made Green Goblin into that ridiculous looking battlesuit for the film which wasn't actually an improvement, Hobgoblins look would've probably translated better to the movies than GG's.
  9. Well put, I'd agree with most of that. (thumbs u
  10. The Hobgoblin was a decent enough villain but there was nothing that fascinating about him IMHO. It was the excellent storytelling from that period that made the Hobgoblin so good, once that time had passed, there were very few good Hobgoblin stories that I read.
  11. Received a slabbed ASM # 129 from Chris and he was a great guy to deal with. Good communications, excellent packaging and quick international shipping. I highly recommend Chris for dealing with. (thumbs u
  12. Just received a batch of early ASMs from Chris and I recommend him as a great guy to deal with. I'm very pleased with the books and the packaging was superb, fast delivery too. This is the second time I've bought from Chris and I look forward to the next time, excellent seller. (thumbs u
  13. Just sold Marc a couple of Journey Into Mystery slabs. It had been a while since I'd sold to Marc and he hadn't changed a bit, the perfect customer. Always a pleasure to deal with and always does what he says he'll do. Thanks mate, I look forward to the next time. (thumbs u
  14. He also resembles that guy in the TV show, Teenwolf.
  15. i'll bet he wears the Sheldon flash T-shirt....maybe a few episodes of him running on a treadmill and Ollie doing pull ups. The ladies won't be able to handle it. If the classic Flash costume isn't CGI of some sort, I doubt it will work. If Oliver can get away with painting his mask, I guess maybe Barry Allen can just dye his hair red. Would be funny seeing Barry & Ollie getting ready to fight crime in one of those back stage dressing rooms adjusting their makeup in one of those mirrors with the lightbulbs. They are apparently planning to use a version of the costume for the show. I'm guessing that they're planning on linking the television and movie franchises if all goes well into some kind of JLA project.
  16. I think the series has been great fun, some episodes better than others but you can say that about any series. It kept my interest to the end of the session and the flashbacks to the island fitted in quite fluidly and didn't get dull. Looking forward to season 2 and hope they can come up with a decent overall story arc, sounds like they're going with expanding into the DC universe more which is fine by me if handled well.
  17. Ken generously donated a unique bound Silver Surfer volume to the charity thread for Jamie Hughes's family. He then posted it quickly and securely and it was a great pleasure to purchase the book. I'd happily buy from Ken anytime. (thumbs u
  18. Pretty sure #19 is, guessing about the others. Thanks for the cover scans. (thumbs u I've just had a look at the Starlin Wiki page and it states... Mighty World of Marvel 2-20, 22, 24, 26 His version of The Hulk is quite distinctive, and one of my favourites. I did recall he'd done quite a few covers, but had no idea which ones exactly. This is one of my all time favourite Hulk covers. Not only do his pants get bigger, they change colour as well. .... and his trousers too.
  19. Boon just bought another batch of books from me and I couldn't ask for a better buyer. Excellent communication, fast payment and a great guy to talk to. (thumbs u
  20. I sold some books to Boon recently and it was a perfect trasnaction. I would happily deal with him anytime. Thanks for the business, mate. (thumbs u
  21. It's my understanding that the Sentinels won't appear in this film. Marvel wants to try preparing for a cross-over. Then this movie is already doomed to be utter, epic, 100% pure trash. (thumbs u -slym How can you have this movie without Sentinels? I just feel like I have to now The Sentinels/Ultron statement was a joke.
  22. Will this mean we will actually have X-men 141-142 story-line then? Of course. There's a brown leather jacket involved so that definitely means they are going to faithfully recreate the story from # 141/142.
