  1. What a great way to spend the day ! I would love to know the grade of the Action #1 to #10 (part. #1), and the Detective Comics #1 and #27 ?
  2. Hi Bob I was pretty sure it was you that posted all those original P.C. lists. One of the most interesting threads ever listed on these boards ! In addition we can also add: J.I.M. #84 NM = CGC 9.0 p.s. My #93 9.4 is one of the strictest graded books I own. It's sharper than the #89 9.6 which had a single color-breaking stress line and slight pre-marvel chipping. (still the nicest copy in existance by some way though !!!).
  3. Hi Bob - congrats on the purchase ! I appreciate the kudos, but although I have a lot of Pedigree J.I.M.s, I have only ever purchased two P.C.s (my #93 9.4, and the #89 9.6 which was sold to a major BSD). What I can confirm is that most of the early P.C. J.I.M.s are still unslabbed, and many of these are owned by a U.K. collector who prefers to remain anonymous and is not one of the usual suspects. Judging by the attached P.C. J.I.M. list, there are some real beauties yet to come.
  4. Great covers, great grades, and great scans !!! I am starting to appreciate D.C. Horror more and more thanks to these boards. Congratulations !
  5. The Northland copies I own are almost all spectacular. Here are some more Northland J.I.M.s (all 9.4).
  6. I'm sure she didn't realize her purchase would be helping to create a bouyant CGC'd J.I.M. market over two decades later. p.s. Kudos to Colmoreman for being a great guy to deal with, and for bending over backwards to make this deal happen.
  7. Since we are on the Journey Into Mystery theme, here is a book I recently purchased in a nice trade/cash deal. One of my fondest childhood memories was my mum taking me shopping to the West End of London when I was 10 or 11 years old. I dragged her into a comic shop called Comic Showcase, in it's original Covent Garden location, and spent ages staring at the amazing books they had on the wall. Although it was not my birthday or anything, my mum saw how excited I was and decided to spend £10 (a fortune back then) to buy me mid-grade copies of Journey Into Mystery #88, #96 and #100. With this purchase, I now own CGC 9.4 copies of all three of my all-time childhood gems.
  8. CGC will contact Metro if they need to confirm the provenance. I'm sure Metro would then confirm this to their satisfaction. Just send a letter with the date and details of the purchase with your submission.
  9. Stunning books ! The #115 in particular is one of the very toughest in the run above #100 in 9.4. Don't be too hard on yourself, at least you picked up some great books at the time. Even Captain Tripps has admitted not initially purchasing many P.C.s from R.R. due to some overgraded items he had bought from him previously.
  10. Excellent, so we're agreed !!! I will take the B.A. Winnipeg's that WILL grade 9.6 or higher !
  11. Kudos to Bronze Bruce for brokering the sale for me of some top census Bronze Age gems. The prices he achieved and his professionalism in doing so, more than matched my expectation. I can thoroughly recommend him to anyone consigning quality material.
  12. I already phoned in an offer of $500 but also the potential to do lots of future business with them, therefore committing to a long and mutually beneficial business relationship I guess this is what gay marriage must be all about And if I actually did, who can blame me knowing there is an obsessive DC collector paying $1000 for giveaways, I'd hold this until it's in your last 5 and then flip it to you for $5K or more when you are positively suicidal if you don't complete your quest Yeah but what if Ian finds one somewhere else in the mean-time (possible since grade is unimportant), and you are then stuck with a book you don't really want, which you bought for a price you wouldn't normally pay ?
  13. Kudos to Rich (richnerd) for assisting with a seller who would not ship to England. Rich packaged my book superbly well, and would not take a dime above the shipping costs for his time or trouble. Anytime I can return the favour, let me know Rich !
