  1. OK, I didn't want to say anything while the auction was live, since I don't want to ruin someone's auction, but i thought this Batman looked dorky: Matt Wagner Batman on Clink Is it just me? am I too critical? or did the original commissioner of Wagner so he made a dorky batman Malvin
  2. the only way around it is to have a friend in the countries they ship too. The reason is some people don't want to ship outside their own country. Their reason could include not dealing with customs forms.. Many US listings only ship to US too. Malvin
  3. This is obviously my own perspective, but for something as simple as sharing my knowledge and typing up a reply, I don't mind doing it and operate on the principle of all of us benefiting from the collective knowledge (e.g. I answer questions, but also ask questions and hope for a correct answer from the group) But if the action is more concrete (e.g. I have to meet someone in person to deliver or receive art) then I would expect some sort of consideration. In fact, when I ask these types of favours from friends, I typically compensate them in some way. Malvin
  4. I just uploaded a full splash from Grendel: War Child! CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  5. Hi All, I have one piece ending tomorrow at Comiclink It is a cover stat of McFarlane Amazing Spiderman 324 with original hand drawn art! It was used to create a poster book, and Marvel had to get an artist to re-draw Spiderman's Thumb and Sabretooth's pinky toe. An artists also blackened out the title logo fo the cover. The stat itself is 11" x 17" and it is pasted onto a larger 13" x 19" Marvel board. It is currently only $185! A previous one (this image is better!) sold for $380 and someone posted that a Steranko Stat (stat only, no original art touch ups) sold for $5K! This one is a steal! Link to comiclink auction Original art thumb and toe: Thanks for looking Malvin
  6. Ha descriptions match comic grading, so good is actually not great, since that's a very low grade Malvin
  7. I have never altered original art, but like you, the thought of shaving a bit outside the art area has crossed my mind. For dedications, I have not whited it out myself, but I have asked the original artists to do it before. Malvin
  8. If not, if he can afford $5K for the piece, he can afford a restorer to get rid of the dedication if it bugs him so much. Malvin
  9. Mid auction bump! it's currently at $104 Link to comiclink auction Thanks for looking Malvin
  10. I only watched parts of the video, so I didn't watch the part about PMS. You are right though, all it takes is for that video to convince two (deep pocketed) people that PMS UXM pages are scarce and they should snatch them up when they can for that one auction to spike up. Malvin
  11. Regardless of who said it, that argument doesn't make economic sense. If everyone pays a premium, it is effectively the new market price. Isn't he just describing the impact of low supply? Malvin
  12. heh, guess this will drag on. Gary Land. Greg Land is the artist, Gary Land the collector :P Malvin
  13. This is his interview series? The only ones he has posted are with Rich Cirillo, Gary Land, Miki A and Tom Flemming Malvin
  14. I just uploaded a vintage Grendel page by JK Snyder III! CAF Link Thanks for looking Malvin
  15. CAF used to have a chat functionality for years! There were a bunch of us regulars that were chatters from the comicart-l list. Bill had to shut it down because the chat program had security issues. I have tried out the new one. The one thing I don't like is that the chat buffer seems to stay forever. Before it would disappear! Malvin
  16. Hi All, I have one piece during this round of comiclink auctions. It is a cover stat of McFarlane Amazing Spiderman 324 with original hand drawn art! It was used to create a poster book, and Marvel had to get an artist to re-draw Spiderman's Thumb and Sabretooth's pinky toe. An artists also blackened out the title logo fo the cover. 17. Wow, I have seen you post about this piece, but didn't realize this was your first OA. What a start!
  18. All things being equal (as you said, quality, characters, key images, facing forwards) I think there is some general rules of thumb such as covers being 2x splashes and splashes being 2.5x to 5x of panel pages, etc. It does sometimes get compressed as values get higher. Malvin
  19. I know it sounds like a global problem for most, but I know that in a previous workplace, CAF ended up on a list of blocked sites, so I was blocked from it. Malvin
  20. no problems for me. I'm in Canada, maybe that's why Malvin
  21. Yeah, I did notice an uptick when the ending was announced. You would think the impact would be opposite (series ending resulting in less interest) but I guess it also brought more attention to the topic of walking dead and I lucked out. Malvin
  22. My consignments have ended. I was very pleased that the walking dead page hit 1k a few days ago, especially when I wasn't able to sell it on CAF for 500 a few months ago. The Perez avengers and McFarlane cover stat was slow but went to the prices I was expecting near the end so overall I am pleased. Of course the stuff I wanted to buy spiked up near the end so I didn't win.. Malvin
  23. heh, my cynical interpretation of your statement is that what you win at auction could be under market value (competitor didn't show up) or over (you overpaid). Well.. yes, whenever you buy something, you definitely could have under paid, over paid or something in between. I 100% agree since there is no other option left :P Malvin
  24. heh, that was supposed to be $475 and it was a well publicized clink auction, I would assume it is just right. Malvin
