I was surprised at the Green Arrow covers. All went for a healthy amount (some more healthier than others) I was hoping to snake one. It wasn't meant to be. Glad to have bought the two I have.
Same here. I'm glad to have gotten mine the last time Kevin Smith had a sale. Back then it was also an obscure venue.

Im stunned that Quick Stops pages are selling for a few hundred, snootch to the bootch I guess
Agreed. Despite the more obscure platform, and selling many similar pages, I'm seeing healthy prices.

I still have the 2 pieces I bought from him the last time he was selling his art in 2011 (a Matt Wagner Arrow Cover and a Mazz DD cover homage by Oeming links here ( CAF Wagner Cover and Oeming DD Cover Homage)
I was surprised to see all those Matt Wagner Green Arrow covers. I could have sworn I have seen some Matt Wagner Green Arrow covers sell. Were they other issues or did Kevin Smith buy them from the secondary market? Or did I mis-remember seeing them for sale?

ebay started getting filled with spoon once they took out listing fees! They should really bring those back.

An actual Simonson Commission (in my definition, a full blown piece where you dictate what you want drawn) is rare. Only one comes to mind:
https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1803301
The other finished pieces you see are ones he drew for charity auctions. Your best bet is to go for it in the secondary market when those are re-sold.

I almost sold it but I still have the first OA I got, a quickie sketch and a published page from Tim Sale at a local con! This was back in like 1998 or so. I almost sold the published page but glad I kept it:

I enjoyed the "Red Star" comic when it came out so when Bill Cox had a comicartlive event with Christian Gossett, I attended (I rarely do) and I actually bought something (first and so far only Claim purchase)

Don't want to re-type what I already entered into my CAF description

Used a eraser got most off the real bad sticky stuff off enough to where it will not not stick what we was on the back didn’t damage it for the last 30 years so figure the next 30 should be ok thanks for all the input would restore it if the piece appreciates in value more to make it worth it but seems to be ok now… the eraser did leave some marks in the sense certain areas do look cleaners then others but I don’t think anyone would care much if I ever decided to let it go
Yay, glad to hear my advice helped.

I recently acquired a page that some has had poorly framed for over 30 years. The back is stick as it was stuck to what I believe was just regular large craft paper. Lucky it came off with only minor damage to the back of the art board. I am curious if anyone know any tricks to get the remaining stickiness off of the board. Also if there is not a good way any recommendations of what kind of backing to use to frame to do the least damage to the piece going forward? Appreciate the help!
Is this a lower value page? and there is still some stickiness you want to get rid of? try rubbing it with an eraser.
If it is an expensive page, get a conservator.

I know a couple of folks who do exactly that. Good point.
I do it too, except the advantage has decreased, I think they charge a service fee per package now, not zero shipping.

I'm pretty content as a buyer and seller of this year's CAL. I think I sold 7 pieces and bought 3. I obviously didn't love the 7, and I like 2 of the 3 (I sort of regret 1 of them, but that's how it goes when you feel you have to pul the trigger fast ) and the dollar value of my sales exceed my purchases!
Some of my sales I actually are not tagged on the CAF website since I can no longer access my booth.

you can always make an offer. I accept offers on my FS pieces (with a note that I don't accept any offers until the end of the day in case there are people paying full price)

A quick question or two or three...I understand that published pages by either DC or Marvel will be stamped on the back.
So, can a published page not have the stamp on the back? If so, any reasons why wasn't it stamped (if anyone might know)?
I have seen pages for sale that do not have the stamp on the back and have avoided them even though I can see the exact art/page published in the comic. Am i overreacting?
real published pages can definitely not be stamped in the back. Especially newer ones.
As for reasons, who knows.. they forgot? someone was sloppy?

Now that my collection is bigger, every year I go to my local big con (FanExpo Vancouver) saying I probably wouldn't buy anything, and I am proven wrong.
I ended up buying 5 covers (Young Justice, World's Finest, and Batman) as well as some Transformers Merchanising art
Thanks for looking

On the Marvel Fanfare #21 page:
"I thought this was an insane price. I thought it was already high when it was $20K" - Nick Barrucci
"Yeah, this is pretty stupid." - Albert Moy
"Yeah, I really thought it was a $12K or maybe, maybe a $15K page" - Nick B. again
Exactly. It went that high because it was an A+++ page, not just an A+ page.

The best indication of how jaded we've become is that several pieces went for over 6 figures and haven't even received a mention in the post-auction discussion.
True, but the A+++ (added an extra plus just for Gene @delekkerste ) Starlin Marvel Fanfare page that "only" went for $50K got mentioned!

Wait there was a comiclink auction?!?
Exactly! It was their January focussed auction, but there was a small batch of "premium" pages. The rest of the OA didn't finish until February but the premium ones finished last night.
I would have bid on some, good thing none finished than my max or I would have kicked myself (and I'm cheap, my max usually isn't market value, sellers should worry if I buy from them! )

I didn't even realize there were Clink art auctions ending last night!
I guess for this batch they separated the premium from the others and had the premium ones end weeks earlier.
