  1. heh, there was a piece that I marginally wanted, and i would have swung to a want if I made an offer (that was accepted) and applied the 15% off coupon. However, I was worried that the offer would be accepted after the coupon will expire, so I decided to not bother Malvin
  2. ha ha, I asked the seller what a thrid party authenticator was, and he replied saying DC doesn't have in house authenticators so they need a 3rd party. Then I said why is it spelled thrid and if something that simple is spelled wrong, what else could be wrong. He then replied that he has seen COA with worse errors and I can buy with confidence. That was a few days ago, then today he sent me this: "After you brought it to my attention that there was a typo on the COA I contacted DC Comics and they responded by sending me a new COA which is now posted on the listing Also if you are interested please email me "
  3. I love those issues, but the other problem is that Maleev did most of his work digitally, so there is little OA to be had. Malvin
  4. All I can say is, I'm still waiting for my Kaluta and it's a slap in the face when he completes new commissions while Kickstarter pieces are still outstanding Malvin
  5. That's a good point. We should all ask the seller that. Malvin
  6. I don't think we need to waste Adam or Alison's time on this. Malvin
  7. My vote is no. That COA is hilarious Malvin
  8. I did not sell my collection to buy original art, but at my peak, I had about 30 longboxes that were stored at my parents basement (my old room). When they sold their place to downsize, I had to purge since I had no intention of paying for storage for comics. I kept about 6 boxes of truly special comics, and the rest, I first sold the significant ones locally on craigslist (I think I only got $1 or $2 each canadian doing that) and when I was down to my last 10+ boxes, I sold it to a local guy in bulk who attend shows, I think I probably got 50 cents each at that point. Please note that these are mostly modern books. I didn't sell to buy OA, but considering how much OA I buy regularly, you can probably draw a line that shows that cash went towards OA Malvin
  9. Buying OA based on "key events" is always risky, especially if you do it before the event and essentially speculate on the significance of the event. Even buying OA after the event is risky if the "event" is the sole reason for the premium. I recall a few years ago Spiderman revealing his identity was a very big deal, and McNiven priced those pages high (as it is his right). Someone did buy those pages (not sure if he paid the asking price) but that was event "undone" later and if the buyer paid the asking price, he would be lucky to recover 20% of what he paid if he was going to sell them. 10. Sadly, they have been known to do that, so this isn't new. Malvin

  12. I have bought from him before. I assume it was a Gary Frank Superman piece of some sort? Terrible seller, I got my piece but I had all kinds of problems that he promised to fix but did not. He also appears to have a short memory because he periodically approaches me every few years to sell me stuff. I stay away. Malvin
  13. Wow, I just saw a new one minute later commission. Apparently you can commission him via Spencer. So try that. Malvin
  14. heh, since it was a BIN, I really appreciate you letting me mull it over and buy! It's tiny but I love it. Malvin
  15. Why don't you go find Hen's teeth while you are at it You saw that one that was auctioned on ebay recently right? Malvin
  16. Already used it, on an item I won previously and haven't paid! (until today) :P Malvin
  17. I don't know about that. I obviously don't know the exact words said between you and the artist, but pencillers are not always consistent and it's very believable that they won't remember what happened with a specific page. Many artists I know physically draw art, but use digital if there is a time crunch, or instead of couriering physical page like the normally do, they would send digital scans of it once in a while due to deadlines. Malvin
  18. Agree with almost everything, except for the statement that implies all published art will appreciate in value Malvin
  19. $31, jackpot! Don't spend it all at once Malvin
  20. I don't know that market. The auctions are still going but I'm generally disappointed with my consignments. Then again, what they are fetching might be market value though and my expectations were out of line Malvin
  21. not that easy. Typically when someone says bluelines, it means printed pencils that are blue. However, some artists use a real blue pencil when drawing their art, so you might see "blue lines" that are hand drawn. It's not an easy hobby to fully understand... Malvin
