Well, unless your time frame is wrong, what you were offered were not the covers. They have been on CAF since 2006:

You are saying someone offered to sell you 4 of the painted covers from Batman: The Cult for 7K total?
That sounds like a good deal. Except I know someone has at least 2 of them, and he got them way more than 4 years ago. So I either misunderstood which covers you are talking about, or you were not offered the original covers.

yeah, those "production art" transparencies on ebay are frustrating. Its likely just some guy scanning comic books and printing on transparencies.
original dark night returns artwork is rare, and decent ones are in the tens of thousands.

Yeah, the Capulllo was a joke, he wants 50K for his Batman cover.
I don't think you can get colour, Steranko's quote was $400-$700 on a comic blank cover.
some people are only accessible via cons, others are accessible outside of cons. I don't think Romita Sr (or Jr) is doing commissions but it sounds like Sterakno might be.

haha you did misread it 30K is how much vintage recreations are selling for, new ones won't cost that much. I thought you were expecting to pay for less than $100.. for anything by anyone significant it will be a few hundred at least, but not 30K.. unlesss Capullo is doing you a sketch

well, hope this isn't blunt, how much were you expecting to pay for an original piece by legends like Romita or Steranko?

I think I am only one of a handful of people who enjoyed Black Terror from Eclipse by Dan Brereton (way way back), so I'm glad to grab 3 more pages for my collection:

Hey Folks,
I think of myself more of a Batman collector, but I seem to like many superman related stories, so I just uploaded a bunch of art from that.
1. Two pages related to the awesome Kurt Buseik & Stuart Immonen Superman:Secret Identity Miniseries:
1a. An interior page - http://cafurl.com?i=20323
1b. A pinup Immonen did while being interview at Wizard promoting the series - http://cafurl.com?i=20324
2. Two pages related to Alan Moore's Supreme:
2a. A great pinup used in Wizard by Chris Sprouse and Al Gordon - http://cafurl.com?i=20325
2b. A great commission by Jerry Ordway - http://cafurl.com?i=20326
3. Finally, not related to the theme but I uploaded it recently so I might as well mention it, a nice JR JR Spiderman Sketch - http://cafurl.com?i=20327
Thanks for looking!

I got in another piece, a very detailed pencil pinup of KISS by Adam Warren
If anyone knows where this was used, please let me know. I've reached out to Randy Martin (Adam Warren's rep) to see if Warren remembers.
Malvin
I just asked Adam on Twitter and he said: Old piece for a WIZARD insert booklet re: Kiss, presumably back when Kiss comics were appearing hither and yon in the 90s(?).
Thanks alot for asking and getting me some answers

Yup, I love getting art signed, not in the art area so that it doesn't detract.
It also gives you something to talk about with the artist

I'm probably the only person that might appreciate this, but I thought I would still share. As everyone might know by now, I really enjoyed the Alan Moore run on Supreme and here are a couple of related pages:
Rob Liefled Alan Moore Supreme page
Ian Churchill Supreme Splash from Coven

New to OA Collecting, Advice, tips?

I think there are 2 separate questions
1. If the actual art is restored, it really depends on what the restoration is
2. Adding overlays for word balloons and title logos is fine and could even enhance the piece, it doesn't alter the original piece and makes it more presentable.
