  1. One of the best war covers of all time. Very cool to own a Curator. How fresh is that book? Ken, I finally finished off the last payment on another package deal and can give you guys an update on this Beautiful Curator Copy. I think I now have 8 different pedigrees and I don't want to sound like an expert and this Curator is by far the best looking and the freshest looking of the other Pedigrees I own. The back cover is white, the gloss is outstanding and the pages are awesome that are probably just shy of being white and they have that awesome smell. I don't own a Pacific Coast, Boston, Suscha News or a Twin Cities to compare them against this book and the Curator is quite impressive IMO. A few more books in this awesome package that arrived today. One more surprise 10 cent book I can't seem to find a scan of. My sort of new/used scanner broke down just now and I had to go back to the sales thread to grab a few decent pics of slabs. You've never heard this before and it appears CGC was a little tough on this one.
  2. The invite goes without question Fay! For the travel – we may need to cross our fingers that the Royal Canadian Air Force will do their part. However, accommodations are NOT a problem… I heard Comick is putting all 40 of us up at his house for the entire week! Thanks Bro!! Thanks Matt, I appreciate the thought but I can never save up enough money. As far as the Royal Canadian Airforce goes they might drop me off in Afghanistan and I know for sure a Burka would NOT look good on me. I would love to spend a night at Mick's house as long as he let me sleep in his comic room carefully flipping through that awesome collection. You lucky devils have a great time and like I said I will be thinking of all of you. Make sure you say hello to Keith for me.
  3. Airfare/accomodations and an invite for Fay? I sure envy you guys and I'll be thinking of all of you that night. (thumbs u
  4. Great books you guys. I purchased this one from Flaming_Telepath and I love these SA Detective and Batman books.
  5. Great book Jim! (thumbs u Congrats on the GIC run Bill. What an awesome set of books to put together and the last one was sent from some generous board member. What an amazing place and my guess would be that Andy character.
  6. Nice books Bill and I love this cover. I've got one on the way soon after a long search.
  7. I wish I could help you out Mike and I've been searching for a 6.0 to 7.5 copy of OAAW 105 for about four years now. That original box of comics my Mother in Law gave me to sell had an okay copy of a 105 and I sold it before I started to collect these gems of history. Good Luck on the hunt.
  8. Awesome additions Richard and that picture will be looking good. I had never seen that SSWS 41 issue until I purchased Shep's copy. Not quite comparable to yours, but I still love it.
  9. Awesome books Peter! You really love that TTA 100 issue don't you?
  10. No you don't. Wow. Suddenly I feel as though I don't like it as much. But I still have an urge to bid on it. Ooops, sorry Dan. I know I'll only be watching and I hope one of you wins this great book so we can see it again soon. Maybe you shouldn't bid on it Richard and it appears you have the odd nice book. Love that picture and can we see one with your DC and Atlas War?
  11. Your welcome! Sorry, I was talking about Richard Mr.Bedrock's next purchase. It would go along nicely with his River City Pedigree Atlas Russ Heath covered war book he won recently. A BEAUTIFUL BOOK!! Come on Richard, the only and highest graded copy of one of our top ten finalists in this year's survivor series best war covers contest put on by our good friend Andy. A top notch Pedigree to sweeten the purchase and the best part is another awesome Russ Heath cover.
  12. I think that's a sweet looking book. I don't know much about the Boston Pedigrees and can't help you there. I sure wish I didn't have a time payment deal on the go and ComicLink has a few Beauties I would love to win. Here's one and it's a favorite cover of mine. Richard's new Atlas War Book! I think this copy would go along nicely with your Pedigree copy of Combat # 1. (thumbs u
  13. Mick, I really enjoy many of your posts and that was a Beauty. (thumbs u
  14. Sorry I'll never tell and I think many members have it figured out. The SSWS 156 & 157 were listed in one auction. The day before he had a Beautiful SSWS 75 in VF- condition that my good friend Mike stole out from under me for only 33.00. Actually Mike or "Lizards2" was only paying attention and I thought all his auctions were ending on the same day. The seller is Keith Marlow and he's probably in the top ten Premiere DC War collectors in the country, but that still doesn't give you his e-bay ID.
  15. Sorry Jeff, I don't recall ever reading the end of that story and I've read most of my Sgt Rock issues. I'm still looking for a VF/NM copy of that DC Special Series # 13 and I love that cover. A few recent purchases and how can you pass up these books for two for 15.00 on the SSWS issues and 15.00 for a VF/NM copy of OAAW 199 from my favorite e-bay seller. Another package showed up with some sweet SA DC War and these BA Beauties! My BA GIC run is looking pretty good these days. I'm trying to complete 1 to 30 on these great WWT books.
  16. I will let you guys know as soon as I pay it off along with a few other books and it was a package deal. I can hardly wait. Two packages arrived today and I'm getting closer to finishing off my Capt. Storm run. I like this series for some reason and I think the covers usually have lots of action with a bit of a cartoon feel to it. A Manitoba Collection copy. Great story in this book.
  17. Wow, awesome seeing that book and the legend Kubert signing it. I sure envy you Matt. Would you take...ah forget it. Great additions to the thread with that incredible CGC 6.0 PW22 bought from Keith. Looks nicer than a 6.0 to me and what an awesome book to own. BrianR, Your copy looks similar to my old copy and I sure regret selling that book. Actually yours look nicer and I would love to own your new addition. (thumbs u
  18. One of the best war covers of all time. Very cool to own a Curator. How fresh is that book? It's not quite here yet and I probably should have waited to have it in hand before posting. I can hardly wait to see the pages and inside covers.
  19. A few nice scores heading my way soon. A Curator Pedigree. Another Mlle. Marie cover and two more to go.
  20. Sterling, Yes it is and it's listed in the OSPG as "The Classic Roster cover." 11 K is a ton of money and you would have to check the census and a 9.2 might be the highest graded copy. I know it's a very hard book to find and afford in HG.
  21. That must have been awesome to talk with Joe Kubert and you guys from the States are so lucky with some of the guests that attend your shows. (thumbs u I know I keep saying this and I swear I'm going to make it to a big show in the good ole' USA one of these years.
  22. Battle Action 3 added to a long want list. Thanks for posting those fantastic inside pages.
  23. I'd be pissed. You are essentially asking the book at the price that's OK for you and the seller has the right to assume that if he accepts that price without countering, it's a done deal. When I send a request with a specific price in the PM, if accepted, I always consume the deal. If I am on the fence, I send a PM with the following question: "What's the best you can do on this book?" If the price I hear back is not OK for me, I thank the seller and might pass on the book (or counter, which I rarely would do in that instance) as I never indicated that I will accept the new price offered. I think to avoid any confusion and hard feelings either way, that the proper approach is for a buyer to do one of two things: If the buyer is serious about the item in question, the phrase should be "If you'll sell for $X, I'll take it." This is an offer to buy and the seller can then accept or reject the offer in a reasonable time. If the buyer is just fishing, then the phrase should be as Scrooge says "What's the best you can do on the item?" This is an inquiry asking for an offer, rather than an offer. This should work for everybody I'm far from being a perfect buyer on these boards and my requests are usually if a seller will accept payment on my next payday. Being on a budget and having my better half attempting to keep my spending down affects some books I attempt to purchase. I really think the key to avoiding many of these problems is proper and polite communication and I just recently sent Monkeyman a question about possibly paying on payday and during the night I realized I had spent too much lately and sent him another PM as soon as I woke up to tell him to forget my request and to apologize for wasting his time. It wasn't an expensive book and that doesn't really matter. I don't believe he had read my first question and I'm sorry about that Mike. I would NEVER send a PM asking a seller to see if he/her would accept 65.00 and then after the seller answers, ask if 50.00 would be okay or let me think about it. I have NEVER hit the and then send a PM asking if I could pay on payday and I've missed some great books because of this. Because of an incident back in Decmeber I try to be as careful as possible and don't want to lose another friend or fellow collector I look up to.
  24. Wow Mike, how long have you had that Beauty? If you ever decide to sell you always have my address...and you owe me one.
