My four issues of the Captain and all are pretty nice except issue number
two has a tape pull.
I'm guessing Captain Storm had a much smaller print run compared to the Big
Five Shep...or I mean Sheep.
-
Another nice one - the only washtone cover from that run.
Hepcat you sure have some awesome looking DC War books.
I love Capt. Storm and this is my favorite book from the run.
Any war collectors out there have a decent undercopy they wouldn't
mind parting with?
I agree that one legged sea dog it very hard to find in HG condition.
That Showcase 45 is sweet and was my first DC War book I purchased
and is still my favorite DC War cover. I purchased an over graded raw
copy from e-bay and was lucky enough to upgrade to a CGC 7.0 thanks
to Andy and I love it, but that book is sick you lucky bugger.
-
WOW!! That book looks incredible and one of my favorite books of the run.
That has to be the brightest white copy I've seen.
-
I somehow deleted this post and I'm not sure how I did it.
I wanted to make sure to thank Jeff and I was more than pleased
with our transaction and he's an excellent seller with great products.
I would highly recommend "Hotflips" to any collector for all their comic
book supplies.
Thanks again Jeff,
fay

Awesome thread Billy.
I knew you completed your goal and I somehow missed this incredible
thread. Very impressive and I thought I seen a couple of DCs in this
thread.
Nice work Billy!!

This is a belated Kudos and I have nothing but great things to say
about every single transaction I've had with the King. (thumbs u
I look forward to my next purchase(s).
Thanks for the sweet books delivered with awesome speed and
always packaged to perfection along with his very strict grading.
-
What a great day after a walk in the slush from our snowfall last night and
spending the day reading my new batch of books.
Plus another 20 or so lower grade readers.
Thanks again Keith!!
-
Those prices are insane and especially for the GIC 123 CGC 9.4 after
watching Andy's many 9.4's go for a fraction of that.
It's funny how things work out and I gave my friend Whisp a few of my
winning books from Andy's awesome contest and yesterday I picked
up an unexpected package from my good friend in Texas. Here are just
a few of the high-lites and there were many sweet books I'll scan and
post later.
-
This is a very belated Kudos to one of the board's best sellers with some of
the strictest grading in my books. Excellent customer service, shipping and
communication.
As a buyer he is equally as good with lightning fast payments and just a
pleasure to deal with.
I look forward to many more purchases in the near future with Andy.
Thanks again for all the great transactions!!

I know. I've got a serious boner for the Atlas war these days.
You and me both Shep...err...umm... I should say, I'm excited about these
Atlas books too.
Just kidding Shep and I've got nothing against
boners.
That's a Beautiful copy of Men in Action you picked up. (thumbs u
Not quite in my hands, but on the way shortly:
Love this cover.
Underwater action.
-
Nik,
Thank you for the super sweet books and your awesome packaging
and lightning fast shipping and all books were on the money as far as
grading goes. (thumbs u
It was pleasure to get to know you a little better and I'm very pleased
with every book I purchased. I'll be watching for your next sales threads.
Thanks again for everything!!

Need a better scanner....on with the show

Wow, nice book!!

Nice stuff, Fay. Love the OAAW 29. Such beautiful colors on that books. My fav in the bunch, though is the OFF 73. Grandenetti from that period is exquisite. It took some getting used-to, but Grandenetti's lines grew on me. Most of those late 10¢ and early 12¢ Grandenetti-cover OFFs are the bomb.
Great stuff every step of the way. They look like some truly pretty copies, too. Fay, you have been on quite a tear lately!
Thanks Mick!! I couldn't agree more with you about the 10 cent and early 12
cent OFF covers Grandenetti drew and I love his work thoughout all of the Big
Five. He is a very close second to Russ Heath in my books and did
Grandenetti ever work for another company or many other titles?
I really need to buy a new scanner with my bonus in February and sorry
for the lousy pics you guys.
CGC 5.5
CGC 5.0 - I love both these covers and they are very nice for such lower grades.
CGC 7.0 - Awesome Grandenetti cover.
CGC 7.5 - I don't really see why this book only received a 7.5?
CGC 9.0
Thanks again Andy!!
I can't thank you enough.
-
Thanks guys and I think I might need a new digital camera and
couldn't seem to get any pictures of the slabs to come out very
good.
-
A few books that came in an awesome package from Andy.
I love this book and my favorite cover of the run.
-
A few more books and this first one is my new favorite book in my collection
and it has White pages, no tanning and that awesome smell. It looks much
nicer in hand.
Russ Heath!!
Russ Heath!!
My scanner is brutal on slabs and I will try to get some close up
pictures of the slabs that came with that awesome package.
-
A belated Kudos to Jon for an excellent transaction with a great
seller. (thumbs u
Perfect packaging, perfect grading and perfect communication
on a very sweet book.
Thank you Jon!!

What a day and I received a BIG package from Andy and
he has to be one of the nicest guys on these boards to deal with. (thumbs u
Here is one book and I will fire up the scanner and camera tomorrow
to show a bunch of very sweet books. Thanks again Andy!!

:acclaim:
What an incredible transaction I had with Andy and I can't say
enough good things about this gentleman.
He was so patient and nice about our time payment deal, even
when my car broke down and I took longer than promised.
It was worth the wait for me and the shipping was extremely fast
and the packaging was bullet proof. (thumbs u
The books were awesome :luhv:and his grading is excellent and I
would highly recommend Andy to any buyer. He also threw in a nice
freebie T-Shirt.
Thanks again Andy,
fay

FINALLY!!!
That didn't take long after reading your thread in the SA section. Very sweet
book Jason and where did you find that beauty if you don't mind me asking?
Awesome Richie Rich books Greggy.
-
Thank you very much Mick for the extensive information about Chris
Pedrin and the wealth of knowledge you guys have about comics is
incredible and especially anything related to DC War.
I love these boards and I'm still learning a handful of information every
week and I figure if I stay here long enough until were both too old to
type, I might know a tiny percentage of the information you guys know.
Thanks again.
-
Wow Sanj!! Those books are awesome you lucky devil.
Happy New Year to all who frequent the best section on the boards.
I'm sorry you guys and I can't believe I don't know this and who is
Chris Pedrin? I donated my copy at one of our fund raisers.
Thank you in advance.
-
Thanks for all the great first-hand info...
You think you might one day get back in and put another war set together? That's amazing - third time's the charm!
Good news is that if you are a pure collector, this hobby will just get easier and easier. Major collections are still coming to light (Mound City, and now the new one that Heritage will be brokering later this year for example) yet I can't see the number of people collecting war comics from the 1950s-60s growing all the much.
From an investment standpoint, there may always be a strong market for ultra high grade copies among serious DC silver age generalists. But for nice mid-grades on the 10-centers, this is a great time to be buying.
Shep
Well said Shep and as a buyer of mid grade or slightly lower 10 centers it
breaks my heart watching Andy's auctions at Heritage with no cash or credit
card on hand to take advantage of this buyer's market.
If Andy would stop having these awesome sales around here maybe I could
save up some cash. J/K Andy and keep having these incredible sales. (thumbs u

Stu, wankerI've been doing a lot of reading on DD, Ewert, Ronin, Tom B? and others to get an better understanding of what's been going on within the hobby at least within the last 5 years.Too bad all the good threads were permanently deleted by CGC, you'd get a real education then. You don't know the half of it!
OK, so my shill sense is usually half-way decent.
But I'm lost with you.
PM me and let me know who you are. (thumbs u
Do you guys really know who these shills are? Or is it an educated guess?

Canada Post came through with flying colors and I can't thank our good
buddy Andy enough for these awesome books and I am one happy
collector right now. (thumbs u![:acclaim:](//content.invisioncic.com/r266625/emoticons/acclaim.gif.3a33e531f96a2a174981502fc2f3a8c3.gif)
Here are some books that arrived and I love them all.![:cloud9:](//content.invisioncic.com/r266625/emoticons/cloud9.gif.d3f300dd2318546a8b7b2c356cfeacb9.gif)
It's nice to have this Beauty back in my collection and I still say the soldier
on the cover looks just like the Rock.
Now the slabs:
Love the colors on this great cover.
This one is a Beauty!!![:cloud9:](//content.invisioncic.com/r266625/emoticons/cloud9.gif.d3f300dd2318546a8b7b2c356cfeacb9.gif)
I might crack a few and I still haven't decided.
Thanks again Andy!!
