Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
LudaToke replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
My girlfriend has been collecting this series since it first came out and has the entire series. There are a few pricey issues in that run outside of #1. Now the question is when to sell? -
I had to save a lot of these to put this deal together.

Picked this up at a local show at the end of the day and the vendor was looking to sell his stuff. Not bad for $20 CAD

Moderns that are heating up on ebay!
LudaToke replied to thirdgreenham's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
I have purchased quite a few books off these people and I doubt they were trying to trick someone into a sale. I just saw online that they were getting close to fulfilling their 200,000th order since opening around the start of the pandemic. I don't see them trying to fool someone into a $30 sale when they have so much other legitimate business to keep them busy. -
That is is territory that I am hoping to be in when I get mine graded.

I have been enjoying Saga since it came back. The Compendium is the best way to take in the first half of the story. There are zero hopes of this ever becoming a TV show after how Y: The Last Man and Paper Girls got cancelled after season 1.

That is why I ultimately pulled the trigger on it. Lots of mid grade with OW pages available, much fewer with white. -

CaptCan Comics (Brantford, Ontario, Canada) Broken into Last Night
LudaToke replied to Iceman399's topic in Comics General
This is just terrible news. I have purchased several books off of them and they are a great shop. Fingers crossed that the thieves are dumb and get caught soon. -
This seller is international for me as well (I am in Canada and they are in the US) but I didn't need an invoice. I paid immediately after the auction ended which was 1 week ago. I may reach out to Customer Service and see what can be done to nudge them.

I recently won an auction for for a book a week ago and the seller hasn't shipped the book and isn't responding to messages (I suspect because they aren't happy with my winning bid and wanted more). I guess there isn't much that can be done in this situation besides eventually cancelling the order? Any suggestions?

Pleasant Surprise ROI : Bought Off The Rack And Still in Collection
LudaToke replied to Krydel4's topic in Comics General
Here are a few of mine that were purchased directly as a kid. My brother had a collector's mentality even as a 10 year told so a lot of the collection is in high grade. -
Nice, I have issue #1 and I gifted a set to my GF of #2-#54 and have been collecting the new releases since.

Do you have a full run?

I really liked the Alex Ross Timeless covers. Beast and Ghost Rider were my favorites from that series. I recently read that he will be doing a set of Timeless covers for the Villains as well.

I don't understand the attraction to this stuff at all but I guarantee that people will make money on it. I started collecting free digital cards over 5 years ago for fun and it turns out people started selling them for nominal amounts ($1-$2). Just like NFTs, I couldn't understand why people would want to buy free digital cards but sure enough I put them up for sale and they have continued to sell over the last 3 months. I don't get it but I'll take the money.

The Alan Moore Appreciation Thread

Thanks for the input and suggestion. In all seriousness though, can you explain the concern a bit more? I have been in this house for 6 years now and haven't had any issues with water or moisture. It is very dry down there. The flooring itself isn't a traditional laminate or tile, those are solid pieces of marble. I'm not sure if that makes a difference? Either way, I appreciate the eagle eye suggestion and if its water/moisture related then I will make sure to elevate or at the very least store modern comics on the bottom to protect the good stuff
