Are submission forms working again? They kept timing out on me last night.

Isnt "strict grading" just a devaluation of your assets? Its not a roast man. Its an opinion about the condition of your card that your needing for resell. I dont get this mentality anymore since at first I kind of thought it made sense, but after getting multiple 8.5's and 9's for no real reason, its just as subjective as any other company with their methology. Even when asked CGC of how their methology works, they say they use an algorithm that isnt public information. Lol like really? A made up algorithm that has no clear explanation. I dont even know where to start with that since they might as well just say "yeah we just make stuff up as we go along".
Ive had alot of 9's that could easily gotten 10s with PSA. Nothing really wrong with them. 9 vs 9.5 vs 10 just all come down to how the grader was feeling that day. Its the same standards as BGS and BGS always sells less than PSA except for the perfect 10's/pristine 10s that rarely are given out. But even the 10s, they dont look very different than alot of other cards. A 9 or a 9.5 can easily be a 10. To me it just feels like a marketing gimmick to get people to grade here thinking they will get some magical 10 but 90 something percent of the time, you will get a 9.5 or a 9 no matter how perfect the card is.
Logically it shouldn’t. If the grading is stricter than than means a perfect 10 is literally a perfect 10. You know to have the best quality collectible you can possibly have. There’s also the issue of having too many 10s in the market with varying degrees of condition.
At least that’s the way I see it.

Yes. Lol.
Strict grading is why I came to CGC along with its pricing. It’s a differentiating factor from competitors like PSA that are becoming more lax in their standards as of late.

The real problem is your last point. CGC grades cards for robots with microscopes and computers. They ding your cards for imperfections the human eye cant even see. They really need to loosen up on their grades and realize they are hurting their brand with these unrealistic grading practices. No one wants to collect 9.5s, its just reality. Stop hurting your own brand with this nonsense.
No. Lol.

When it hits the "scheduled for grading" status, how long does it generally take before they are graded and sent back? Ive been at scheduled for a few days and was just curious as these are my first submissions.
It depends on how big the order is. Small orders (1-5 cards) probably 2-3 days till completion. Large orders (for example 20 cards) can take up to 4-7 days. Might also depend on the service tier.
This is just my personal experience though, so I can’t speak for everyone else.

Isn't it a shame when ... You did nothing wrong and the QC of the company destroys your chances :-P
It is what it is. I knew the risks I was taking buying English product

At this point, I’d only submit if I’m doing Express or Walkthrough. Otherwise, it’s just too long of a wait.
Yeah if I do submit I gotta be extra picky

FYI, I noticed that the current TAT’s changed today. Bulk and Economy are now 144 and 142 days, Standard is 31 days, Express was decreased to just 17 days and Walkthrough increased one day to 6.
I came in here just to talk about this. I was curious if bulk was still 111. When I saw the updated number I cackled so hard LOL.
Sadly, yes, I am thinking about doing another submission soon. Why do I hate myself haha.

Imagine this is them stealth locking submissions

It looks like the blades that did the cuts were dull, it almost looks like it pulled the edges up
Yep. I can see it now that I have it in person.

I usually get charged when it says “grading/quality control” or “finalized/imaged/shipped”
-
I somehow think the wait to get the cards received in the system will be longer than the TAT in your case. So 2 months from delivered, if not 3.
-
Paul already said it’s being worked out. Aside from assembling a full catalog of card information, they still need to design new slabs to fit the cards so it won’t be an immediate addition.
-
Not entirely sure what you mean. Their PO Box is actually inside their warehouse facility (I don’t know how that works, but apparently it’s true). The package gets there based on the shipping speed you send it. And they don’t take money from your account until it’s ready to be shipped back to you.

Shining finally got his cards graded? Nice.

There is a packing slip but I think the question is do you offer an option on the site to print a shipping label?
You’re responsible for the shipping label. Just go to a postal annex or usps/FedEx/ups store and they’ll print one for you.
-
Yeah this is pretty painful to wait for lol. I had a package ship on the 24th and it’s been stuck in the LA for the past 3 or 4 days. Hasn’t moved an inch.
and I still need to wait for another package after this. UPS or FedEx all the way next time

How do I fix that?
It’ll be fine. I assume they have a printer and can copy it if needed. More than anything it’s probably just for their convenience to speed the process along.

So back on topic: If anyone has been following the CGC Trading cards Instagram, it’s story is basically nonstop bulk submissions, one that was over 1200 cards from just one guy, to be graded. If it keeps up, bulk is a doomed till next year lol. I can only imagine how many more people are sending in stacks like this.

I just got notified about my submission being shipped but my credit card was never charged for the grading. Is this normal?
No. Expect the charge and plan for it accordingly. It could take a few days to show up depending on the cc company.
Then again, maybe you just got lucky and then sent out free product. Lol.

I was using them for Yugioh and sent them some Pokemon too. At 25 a pop, its a solid deal (or was). I sent them 16 more cards today but it was all high end stuff. I liked CGC at the start but now they look like they are probably screwed too. Never thought PSA would shut down and lead to this type of stuff happening.
Im going to have to wait to grade anything else and Ill re-evaluate who Im going with once the market stabilizes who I will go with. PSA has the best returns. Even though CGC does good work, market doesnt care lol. I guess we will see who offers what when its time to grade again.
Yeah I’m just stacking singles at the moment. I know regardless of who I send it to it’ll get lost in the abyss.

Yeah I wonder how CGC will respond since RIP to their mail boxes. They cant handle the volume from 2 major companies since nobody actually can. Its not possible to scale this type of business to meet that kind of need.
Either price increases or insane TAT's are coming. A bunch of people will probably be pissed off. It is what it is
I feel like price increases are the last line of defense grading companies use before a shutdown.
-
Thoughts and prayers to all who just recently sent cards in lmao SGC just price hiked and CGC is the cheapest guy around by a long shot it seems.
-
Lmaooo I was just looking at them the other day to see what the slabs looked like (not exactly a fan tbh). $75 for the lowest tier of grading though? Yeeshhhhhh
Express order delivered 3/5. Still not received.
